Usually not until 12th night, but for some reason this year our tree, which looks beautiful, is starting to smell like rotten fish, so I suspect it will have to go quite soon!!

nutcracker · 27/12/2006 17:49

I normally take mine down on new years day, but my mum wants me to try and leave it up until 12th night to see if it brings me good luck

ludaloo · 27/12/2006 17:59

We'll be taking ours down at the weekend. We have it up for December...then it comes down again.

opinionsrus · 27/12/2006 18:06

so its good luck to leave it up till 12th night..think we shall give that one a go!!

Fancy leaving them up a bit longer this year anyway....always such a shame to take them down, I think we'll have a prolonged xmas this year....

I'm usually fed up with them by Jan 1st,especially the cards....

LucyJones · 27/12/2006 18:51

I really wanted to take it down today as i'm fed up with it all already!! But dh insists it stays up until New Year's Day... grrrr... I just feel the need to clean it all away and get things back to normal....

LadyTophamHatt · 27/12/2006 18:58

I've just told the kids that I'm taking them down tomorrow.

By tomorrow evening there won't be single trace of Xmas in my house....aprt from the extra toys that none of them deserved!

Sick of the sight of them, sick of picking up decorations fromall over the house....sick to the back teeth of all of it!"

LucyJones · 27/12/2006 18:59

good for you LTH... I am very !!

brimfull · 27/12/2006 19:02

tree's dead so it's coming down tomorrow.

puddytats · 27/12/2006 19:21

Tomorrow, fed up with christmas, want my house back to normal!!

whoopsfallenoffthexmastree · 27/12/2006 19:41

Probably the weekend as back to work next week and also is dd's birthday on the 5th and I like to seperate the two

peegeeinapeartree · 27/12/2006 19:57

I always take everything down on New Years Eve as I cannot stand the idea of waking up on New Years Day with 'last years' Christmas decorations still up.

I love taking them down, and usually treat myself to a nice bunch of flowers or nice potted plant as a way of looking forward to the spring...

MerlinsBeard · 27/12/2006 20:00

i want to get rid now, after xmas we don't put the lights on and its just o the way now, i want my roomback to nromal!!

expatinscotland · 27/12/2006 20:14

well, hell, if it's good luck to leave it up till 12th night, then that's what we're going to do.

we could use some good luck!

12th night, need to be sure when it is.

CMJ · 28/12/2006 20:51

Took mine down today and vacuumed up all the needles - tree looked so dry it had to go ;) My house is now back to normal, cards gone and all surfaces dusted and tidied.

Plus, I had to move my coffee table and some toys to make way for the tree and where they were was not ideal.
