Hi, can I join in? Love the idea of being organized with a sparkling home. Maybe it is because I'm about to POP and have my second dd...

satinshoes · 22/12/2006 08:52

Morning all,

I promise I am looking after myself everyone

Mardy - i just had a baby and FLYing helped me so much with nesting that my MIL didnt have any 'jobs' to help with when she came to look after DD1.

Think we still have fleas in the garage, although the house is now free. We've sprayed but at some point we're going to have to have a clear out

Going to get dressed now then hope to hoover. Might try the mission too.

IvorthePolarExpress · 22/12/2006 09:03

Hello all.
asleep - I think I'm going to copy you and do a short list.
Mardy - I hope the birth goes well. What is your due date?
Hi satin. You're not overdoing it, are you? I'd like to do the mission but I don't think there is any wood i.e. clear surfaces free to dust. I'd have to tidy up first. My pet hate is matching up socks when they all look the same.

My list:-

  • Put all the stuff that's on the bedroom wooden surfaces on the bed instead and gaze mournfully at it for a while
  • Do the washing up
  • Recycle newspapers to neighbours
  • Hand-deliver a wrongly delivered Christmas card to neighbour
IvorthePolarExpress · 22/12/2006 09:40

My list:-

  • Put all the stuff that's on the bedroom wooden surfaces on the bed instead and gaze mournfully at it for a while Do the washing up - done* Recycle newspapers to neighbours
  • Hand-deliver a wrongly delivered Christmas card to neighbour Clean a couple of kitchen surfaces and the table - done Sort out recycling stuff into appropriate containers - done*

I'm sure I'm an anorak for mentioning this, but if you put a star either side of done to bold it and use stars for the bullet points, you either get a visible star at the end of done or, if you take it away because the following bullet point star does the job for you, then the bullet point loses its star.

Sad? Me? Try it!

IvorthePolarExpress · 22/12/2006 10:16

My list:-
~ Put all the stuff that's on the bedroom wooden surfaces on the bed instead and gaze mournfully at it for a while
~ Do the washing up - done
~ Recycle newspapers to neighbours - done
~ Hand-deliver a wrongly delivered Christmas card to neighbour - done
~ Clean a couple of kitchen surfaces and the table - done

The star thing was bugging me so I've used little swirlies instead. You see, this is why I work. If I didn't, I'd be at home 5 days a week with just my cat and dog for company (until 4pm), losing my sanity gradually.

IvorthePolarExpress · 22/12/2006 10:24

There's an echo in here! I'm all alone! Until you all re-appear, I've been reading the end of yesterday's thread.

Thanks shouldbe for sympathising that the delivery didn't turn up. I rang them to enquire and she said that it will be today hopefully. I don't think it's for me, though, as they wrote apple comp on the slip and if that means apple computer then we haven't ordered one. I have a theory. The first two times delivery was attempted was by the same delivery man. Yesterday the item might have been delivered but to the right address, not to mine! I'll let you know. I bet you can't wait!

Also, shouldbe can I email you to receive the spreadsheet, please? I want to understand our finances as I leave it all to dh which isn't that good really. We should both understand it and know what to do, not one of us. Also, I could do with improving my understanding of spreadsheets for work and using it for something productive would be much better than doing some boring course.

Do I have to go and sort the bedroom now?

CranberryJelley · 22/12/2006 10:30

shouldbe - I just tried to forward that email, only to discover I've deleted the wrong one, so I've asked Flamesparrow to send it to you.

satin - I agree. Are you resting at all. You are doing more than me, and losing weight. Don't wear yourself out!

Ivor - I like that little things bug you too. I've been thinking of splitting my jobs into a to do list, and a done list to avoid problems like that.
(I'm the person who will spend two days planning a revision timetable and drawing it out beutifully, leaving only one day for actual revision!

My list

Get dressed
Go to shops for milk.
One load of washing
Dry frozen sheet that has been on the line for 4 days
Wash up
Shine sink
Hoover

CranberryJelley · 22/12/2006 10:35

Ivor See my message below re spreadsheet.
Email Flamesparrow at gmail dot com for a copy, and add yourself to the debt free thread so Flame knows who you are, please!
I'm going to bump it with the whole list of tips....

IvorthePolarExpress · 22/12/2006 10:38

I'm glad that someone understands these little things Cranberry. I occasionally call people in work anoraks because they are so focused on their little bit of work and go into it in so much detail. I used to be the same with my stuff which was financial. The auditor said I was meticulous and paid great attention to detail which surely must qualify me for anorak status!

New list:-
~ Finish cleaning the kitchen
~ Unload the dw
~ Hoover a bit here and there
~ Remake the fire ready for tonight
~ Sort out my bedroom a bit
~ Think about the mess that is the spare bedroom that needs to be in use by tomorrow afternoon! [gulp]

IvorthePolarExpress · 22/12/2006 10:39

Rightio Cranberry re the spreadsheet. Will do.

CranberryJelley · 22/12/2006 10:42

It's quite impressive how I can be totally obsessive in one aspect of life, and a total slob in others - Books, cds records etc were all filed to perfection (before I had children and sold them all) but there is constantly cr*p all over the floor.

satinshoes · 22/12/2006 10:47

Hi Guys, Dont worry. I am taking it easy I promise. Erin slept from 2am until 7.30am this morning so I had a 5 1/2 hour sleep in one go! Plus an hour earlier when DH went and did the Xmas shop

I've done nothing all morning too

IvorthePolarExpress · 22/12/2006 10:48

Ah, but have you pegged things on the line with the same colour peg i.e. only yellow pegs holding an item, only blue pegs holding another? Have you previously washed the teapot (using a teapot, please note, not dunking a teabag in the cup) by hand each time it was used? Please note, I have given up worrying about these things and now behave normally.

Going to go and do jobs until 12 now. Honest!

ludaloo · 22/12/2006 11:04

Morning all,

IVOR...you are not alone! My mind has gone very mushy...I haven't worked for Five years now...I get very fussy about tedious things, its all my mind is capable of!
I have colour co-ordinating pegs....I also have colour co-ordinating sponges (pink for the sink...blue for the loo)
If you give me ten minutes I'll be able to add to the list
God...cushions HAVE to go zips down. I buy candles but no one is aloud to light them (!???) MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IVOR you are busy again today!!!!

HI to Mardybum {{{WAVE}}}

Dh has finally gone to work..he's been hovering round like Victor Meldrew all morning waiting for the postman. He opened the door (in the hope of speeding the postie up???) to find a big swirly dog poo on the door step!!!! He was NOT AMUSED!
(we don't have a dog)
He is convinced the dogs all gang up on him...we have had various mad incidents involving dogs!

Right well I'mm off to do a pick up, and get mission sorted
Bye for Now xx

MardyBum · 22/12/2006 11:23

Ivor, I was due on the 12th! Now booked for induction on the 26th, so need to take my mind off THAT.

Satin, have been lurking all week, am v impressed with your energy!

So my jobs are:

Get dd1 out of her pyjamas
Load of laundry
Unload the dishwasher for a 2nd time
Wrap remaining presents
Post a parcel
Pick up library book
Double check hospital bag
Shine sink
Declutter bedroom (a bit at least)

IvorthePolarExpress · 22/12/2006 12:09

Hi luda So good to not be alone!

Mardy It sounds like a good list, though you have a good excuse for not doing stuff, being very heavily pregnant.

Right. I have emptied the d/w but haven't put all the stuff away yet. I dug out some glue for a neighbour and because I had to half empty a cupboard to find it, I sorted it all out before putting the stuff back in. Going to get back to it.

ludaloo · 22/12/2006 12:16

Take it easy Mardy....I bet your baby is waiting to make a christmas appearance!

Ok My list:

Fold and put away 2 baskets of washing (HATE THIS JOB)
Load/unload w/m and t/d
Load/unload d/w

Clean Hamster out ( hate this job too)
Um general pick up

IvorthePolarExpress · 22/12/2006 13:23

I've started on the spare bedroom! Have created chaos in ds' room and my bedroom as a consequence but there you go.

Where is this delivery?!!!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 22/12/2006 14:04

Welcome Mardybum.

Been busy tidying everywhere downstairs this morning before SW came. It looks much better.
