To those that put a load of washing on every day

Do you not separate? Or do you just wait until you have a ful load of whites/darks/brights etc?

I'm drowning in laundry! Need to do something different!

Well one load of towels and one load is bed sheets etc by which time plenty of darks and whites have built up.

I do a load most days and separate. It just seems to work! I often make up loads with things you don't wash as often like dressing gowns or cushion covers. I also have a mini load setting on my machine which is handy.

No I don't separate. Anything that goes grey (my vest tops for eg) are just replaced periodically, nothing is particularly expensive.

I do a coloured load most days, a white load once a week and sheets/towels once a week. There's often a towel in with other loads though.

Yes I do. I have 2 laundry baskets - everything gets sorted as it goes in the basket as opposed to having to sift thtough 1 big pile. So one basket darks, one lights each is roughly the size of a load, so I pick one and wash each day.
Sheets go straight in the machine once a week, towels go straight from the bathroom racks twice a week.

I do whites, colours (so basically all clothes that arent white), towels and bedlinen. If the bedlinen is white it usually goes in with the whites if there is room. If not i do a separate wash. I wash maybe 5/7 days.

We don't have any whites. Separate wash for towels/sheets but otherwise everything washed together!

I do separate into whites, black/jeans and mixed lighter colours and can normally make up a load of at least one of them per day.

I think I need to get to the stage where all of the washing is done, so I can start a new routine. HA!

I do 1 or 2 loads most days. Occasionally 3.

I always separate as most things are done at 40. Towels/bedding/white at 50 or 60. Might do a boil wash once a month on white towels or school shirts if washer whiffs a bit.

I separate as follows (now we have a bigger house I have 4 wash baskets and we all sort direct into them)

Darks
Lights
Reds/pinks/purples
"others" - delicates or stuff that needs stains treating that no-one else is allowed to go near.
Towels
Bedding.
Dog/cat stuff

I do more dark washes than anything else!!!

Try and stick a wash on every morning then get it hung out or in the dryer so it's finished in the day. Also then get a 2nd load down if need to.

We're a family of 6 with a 9kg machine...

I do towels on a Sunday night, bedsheets on a Monday, lights on a Tuesday, darks on a Wednesday, brights on a Thursday and then school uniform and whites on a Friday night. I'll also do a wash on a Saturday if there's anything that doesn't fit into the categories.

My top tip I've found that works for us is to try to put away as you go. I do this last thing before I go to bed every night. It's so much easier and stops me looking at the overflowing basket of clean washing, groaning and shutting the door on it!

The kids have a small laundry basket each and then dh/I have a larger one in our room. I get stuff from each to make up a full load

I separate and do at least one loads per day (about 20/ week). We have two adults, two teens and a tween so the clothes are larger than when the kids were smaller and they generally wear each item only once before getting mucky.

Like Jesabel I do a coloured load most days and a white wash about once a week - we don't own that much white/pale stuff!

When I'm trying to get on top of the washing I do at least a load a day. Dp puts a longer load on in the morning (either sheets, towels, dark cotton, white cotton, coloured cotton, coloured t shirts/vests/trousers, white t shirts, dark trousers or tops). We have enough that one of these is usually a full load. Then I put a shorter one on in the afternoon (woollen, blankets, delicates, hoodies, coats), I don't do these every week though, just when it's a full load.

I don't differentiate between gym clothes and tea towels etc it all gets done at 40 except towels and bedding that get done at 60.

I put it on timer for when I get up or home from work.

We have 2 laundry baskets, one lifts one darks. Tend to do 3 loads of darks a week, 2 of whites/lights. Bedding, towels, tea towels and gym wear go in with the lights/darks as appropriate.
Load in the morning and set timer to end for roughly when we're due home. Into drier as making evening meal, then folded and up to bedrooms that night (don't iron much in this house but that's usually done as/when the items are dried rather than stacking it all up to do once a week.)

I do whites, colours, towels, kids uniform, husband's uniform, nappies and bedlinen.

Whites load is huge for me. 3 girls with white pants and socks and a baby with white vests and muslins.

Ditto towels

Colours is everything not white.

Husband's workwear for a week is a load on its own.

Ditto kids uniform.

Bedlinen is 2 loads easily. All the kids in one. Ours is kingsize.

Nappies are twice a week.

I never stop washing

I have separate tubs for laundry and all children are trained. We have tubs for underwear, darks, whites and brights plus a further one for delicates and one for my work uniforms. When the tub is full then that is a wash load and in it goes. Sheets and towels never get to a tub they go straight from bathroom or bed to machine. When you first start the system then it takes a few days to get into the routine as of course at first there isn't enough for a load in any one tub but if you spend a few days catching up on sheets and towels then by then at least one tub will be full. Takes a bit of tinkering to get the separating right for how quickly tubs fill up depending on what the family wears most of/school uniform colours etc but works briliantly.

This hS made me realise why it get so over whelmed with laundry I normally do 2 washes a week and then have to spend a whole day dealing with mount washmore I'm on load 5 today

Maybe I should stop seperatinf and washing every other day

i dont separate. every now and then i bleach all my whites to cheer them up a bit.

i have just got through about 8 black bags of washing

I make the DC sort the dry washing into piles - 4 girls 2 taller than me 2 smaller, it's all hands on deck to work out what belongs to whom!!!
