Morning all.

I need to mop everywhere downstairs anyway so might tackle this later as my one job of the day.

Hope you're all ok.

Hello satin. You are resting plenty too, I hope? Yes, I'm here. I'm going to walk the dog in a mo then get showered and dressed again and crack on with my Christmas cards. The kitchen floor is pretty good already so I don't need to do that. I gave the skirting boards a really good clean a while ago, too.

EllieHsMum · 07/12/2006 10:01

Morning everybody!
Satinshoes I am feeling really guilty here's me stressing last week about madamepeepeepeardrop not sleeping & you are just about to give birth I hope you are resting as much as poss?
ABIGTHANKYOUTOYOUALLLASTFRIDAY FORALLYOURKINDWORDS
My DH looked after MadamPrincessPowerNap(new nick name) on Friday night. He slept in spare room with the monitor & had to see to the wee one more than 12 times! I felt jet lagged when I woke on Saturday morning.
Things have improved slightly, went to Dr's on Monday just to ensure we hadn't missed anything. My Dr is wonderful, also a young Mum & this helped greatly. She suggested giving Madame a few more 0zs of milk before bed, already 8ozs. If this doesn't work go back in 7/10 days. Anyway hope all is well, haven't read all the posts did search under Satins name to find todays fly. Will be back but Ellie is trying to pull my glasses & nose off my face

satinshoes · 07/12/2006 10:10

Dont worry about me. DH is working from home (hiding upstairs from DD) and I can call him if needed.

I'm still tired but cold seems to be improving....slowly.

Done our company VAT return today which was a bit more important than mopping the kitchen floor.

I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better EHM. A good Dr can really help. Try and suggest to DH that you get one night off a week and you'll really see an improvement in your own sanity. A bit of extra milk is a good idea, but most of all be consistent in however you decide to deal with DD and she'll soon get the message. You're doing great!

Hello
Have no kids this morning so am planning to try to get on with some jobs. I've ordered the last but one Christmas presents online and am now off to mop the kitchen floor. Then need to do the ironing I couldn't be bothered to do last night.

See you later x

IvortheEngine · 07/12/2006 10:32

Hello all. Am back from walking the dog. Now eating a bagel & drinking tea.

Well done for doing your VAT return satin EllieHsMum My ds was a terrible sleeper. I think he slept through the night once by the age of 11 mths. He once slept 4 hours one day when he was about a week old. I still remember that exceptional occurrence 13 yrs later!

shouldbe You're doing so well with your Christmas shopping! My ironing pile is now one basket plus the wet washing basket which had 2 loads in it which will have to be tumble dried. It's much less than a week or so ago when it was hip height.

Right. I must get showered and dressed and sort out this kitchen then get going on my Christmas cards. See you later.

EllieHsMum · 07/12/2006 10:54

Shouldbe I've still got remainder of presents to buy(5) so you doing much better then me.
Satin VAT I am very impressed
Ivor Did you get drenched walking the dog? Its p*ssing down with rain here.
Hope this counts wiped kitchen floor with 'bugs away' wipes on my hands & knees & the boards which where shamefully dirty.
Wiped down worktops, washup bottles & bowls now ready for sterilising. Ready to empty load of washing from machine.
Cleaned bathroom, I do this in the nip following my shower. It's much quicker & Ellie thinks it so funny. Must be all my bits wobbling about{

Wiped out toilet downstairs, plus sink & floor.
Now going to get Ellie's lunch out of the freezer, forgot to do this morning. She is having a few ice cubes of cauliflower cheese, and a few ice cubes of Pear Puree + Milk.
Will be back later. Ta Ta for now

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 07/12/2006 11:38

Hooray- ironing done! Just got to put it all away now And then there'll soon be the next load to iron anyway (in the wm now..)

I haven't mopped floors yet, I'm going to try to get some wax for floor boards so will wait till I've been to the shops....excuses, excuses...
Am going to clean the bathroom and sort out the utility room instead.

I may be doing resonably well with the Xmas shopping but I haven't even bought any cards yet let alone started to write them! Must try to get going with that this weekend... Last present is for a friend who's moving to America next week- what can I give? (more just acquaintance really but I know she's got presents to give us)...Ideas anyone?

IvortheEngine · 07/12/2006 12:15

I shouldn't be here but I am! Having a quick break from housework.

shouldbe Can you put photos of something or someone or someplace meaningful on a disc or memory stick or suchlike so it's not heavy? If she's going to America, the lighter the better.

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 07/12/2006 12:19

thanks Ivor- that'd be a great idea but really not v close to her at all so I have little imagination with this...agree that it needs to be light though.....

IvortheEngine · 07/12/2006 12:28

Hmmm. In work we often give a framed picture of the town when someone is moving far away. It's usually something local. Locally made jewellry perhaps? Oh, a friend gave a relative a ceramic plate locally made, painted and fired (is this the right word?) with "Congratulations on your wedding Richard and Ann" (or whatever their names are) in Welsh on it. That would be pretty fragile, though. Hmmm.

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 07/12/2006 12:43

she makes her own jewellry so that's out. There's a local craft gallery in a nearby town so I'll take a look in there I think...
Wish she hadn't mentioned the "great" presents she's got for us cos now the pressure's on to give a "great" present back... She's been local to us for about 3 years and she and her dh have been desperate to become our friends (flatering but...), it just hasn't worked though because we simply don't have anything in common. Sounds mean to say that but to be honest she's just been v hard work as she turns up at difficult times and expects us to make time for her- not always easy with lo's around (she has none yet)...I do sound mean- sorry! I'm not really! Honest!

IvortheEngine · 07/12/2006 13:07

shouldbe You don't sound mean, don't worry! Is there a craft person whose work she admires? Is there a craft that she hasn't tried yet which she'd like to? Oh, dear. This is tricky. I don't think I'd ever say to someone that I'd got them a great present, tbh, and I can't imagine why she felt the need to say it unless she wanted to alert you to having spent a fair bit of money so that you'd know a ball park figure for spending on her. I find present giving so tricky to get right. Sorry I'm not more help.

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 07/12/2006 13:19

Thanks Ivor!
I think it's v annoying of her to suggest she's got us great presents too- they'd better live up to it now! I'll give the craft gallery a look and hope for the best!

Better go and collect ds from nursery,
Back later maybe x

EllieHsMum · 07/12/2006 14:11

Hi Shouldbe

What about a Local Calender for 2007
I don't think you sound mean.
Sorry not really full of ideas today.

IvortheEngine · 07/12/2006 14:24

I give a calendar sometimes, so that could be a good one. I saw one really different one recently which I'm giving my aunt for Christmas. They are scenes of mid Wales painted in a very quirky way. Buildings aren't square, they're puffed cheek looking iyswim. It's very unusual.

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 07/12/2006 15:37

Thanks Ivor and EllieHsmum- is a calendar a "great" present though?! I'll have to have a better look around and see what I can find. It looks as though dd will be off school tomorrow cos she's come home with a really horrible cold (even the teacher commmented) and I don't think it's a good idea trying to send her in on a Friday when she's obviously run down. Will see how she is tomorrow morning though.

We have our first carol concert this evening so I'm looking forward to that- if only the rain would stop!

IvortheEngine · 07/12/2006 15:53

Hi again shouldbe. Probably not a "great" present, no. If it was a limited edition one, signed by the artist... ... ... I don't envy you trying to find something that lives up to her expectation! I hope your dd's gets better soon. It is close to the end of term and that tends to be when they come down with something in my experience. Ds is looking very tired and dd is feeling very tired. I was telling dd just this morning that I used to have to leave the house around 8am each morning from the age of 7 and that she's quite lucky to have gone to such a local primary school so that she could sleep in until 8am all those years.

Ruby Write the spellings on post-its and place them at eye level in the kitchen so that you learn them as you cook tea.

Oh, they're not your spellings? Ummm. How about the child writing them out 5 times, spelling each letter. Then you can test the child once they are learnt.

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 07/12/2006 18:31

Evening all. Hiya EHM. Great to see you again Its good that you have a great GP. The one I have now is great too. The one before was more a "hand out pills and see if that works" type of GP. I never felt that I could talk to her, but the one I have now, well she just great.

Well yesterday did get worse DS1 was sick in the night again and then DS2 started being sick just after 4am So no school for them today though DS2 wanted to go I told him it would be better if he stayed at home, well after a few tears he was ok.

No more sickness all day so we all had toast for dinner.(so the DSs would not feel so left out if DD and me had cooked.) I have told them if there is no sick by 6:30 then they can have some custard. looking good so far

I have been FLYing with different bits that needed doing, Washing is all dried and ironed and put away

I`m going to have a bath in a mo while DC are quiet.

Hope everyone are ok.

Satinshoes hows you feeling now? I keep logging with hope that I read that you have had baby.In 3 more days (10th) it will be my Nanna birthday.

EllieHsMum · 07/12/2006 19:43

IvortheEngine · 07/12/2006 19:51

Hello all. Just a quickie as dh will be home soon and ready to eat his tea asap.

luda No, I didn't do the cards but did lots of other stuff. We've eaten a lovely tea tonight; shepherds pie and crumble for pudding. Now I need to unload and reload the dw. I've done several loads of washing and some ironing. Tomorrow is a write off as I have a lunch do to go to. Got to go.
