I don't like my new Miele washing machine..

I have had it for a week now. Thought the machine would be great as everyone on here raves about them and because of the price and name.
I have tried all cycles and my washing is looking worn out and not all soft and fresh that I expected it too. Not that great with stains either. Wish I could send it back!

What detergent are you using and how much do you use?
Are you using appropriate cycles, like minimum iron for synthetics and cottons for towels etc?
Have a look at the program table in the manual, not all are designed to wash a full load, so you could be over/under loading?

Sorry, another thought...it could be detergent residue that's making clothes look dull. Try setting up the WaterPlus feature to do an extra rinse, that might help. The manual will show you how to do this.

Equally, it could be rinsing better than your old machine and leaving things with less residue in them, so they're not as soft when they come out of the wash.

In 7 years of owning a Miele, I've never had a problem with it leaving washing tired.

I use persil non bio powder for whites and lights and liquid for darks and brights. Have to use non bio because of my sons skin. I measure and use around half the dose for hard water as if I use anymore it doesn't rinse out very well. I have tried all apart from the minimum iron setting. I tried the automatic load for white shirts with and they came out worse with a lower spin. Do you use synthetics for all your clothes then rabbit? I have tried adding a extra rinse, higher water levels the lot to the cotton wash.

Hi potap, glad to know i'm not the only one who has had issues with the brand. Mine was bought from Currys so not sure if I will get anywhere with them taking it back? How long did it take to return yours?

Mine is old now...but it was all over all the instructions that we weren't to use powder, just liquid.

Is there a difference between the washes done with powder and liquid?

I like mine, not because it washes any better than any other machine, but because I've had it about 13 years and it's never gone wrong where previous machines lasted 4 if I was lucky.

No, no difference if I use powder or liquid. That's the reason I got the machine so it would last but I hate the bloody thing and at this rate don't want to be stuck with it for weeks let alone years!

Maybe there is something wrong with the thermostat and it's not heating up the water?

Call their customer service and get someone out, and if you still don't like the machine get a Bosch, they are always great.

It will be under warranty etc so get it looked at ASAP and return it if it's not to your liking.

It is heating up water, don't think there is anything wrong with the machine apart from it don't wash well so if a engineer comes out he won't see anything wrong will he?

What a shame, I have had Miele fridges for over 10 years (well, one, and now a new one because our old one was too small, but it still worked perfectly) and they are brilliant IMO. It's not Emperor's New Clothes at all; they are very very good machines and tested to last 15-20 years and IME normally do.
I haven't had a washing machine by them but would if we lived on the ground floor, the issue being they have a cast iron frame (no other brand does) and weigh too much for our floor, probably, but I don't think they are just a name iyswim.

I would contact Miele and ask their advice, failing that the shop you bought it from. One problem I have with Miele is their snobbyness on the phone and sometimes reluctance to answer it (what problem? Miele items do not have problems, ever! We do not need to discuss problems!)

but I would persevere and see if they suggest anything. Have you looked in the manual at the troubleshooting page?

I hated our old Miele hoover btw as the floor head seemed like it was at the wrong angle, but other than that, build quality excellent and worth the money. especially when on sale, ahem

Btw my siemens washing machine is just over two years old now, bought instead of a Miele, and the pump went on it around 6 months ago. Service was good but really a pump, in less than 2 years? Not good enough.

No, I doubt you can return it now. But give them a bell and ask them what might be causing it. They can suggest stuff. also Mieles don't work quite like you might think - for example using too much powder might be an issue.

Really, ask someone who knows these machines. They are a technical mystery to most of us but once configured it should be excellent. It's just a case of knowing how.

Miele's customer service is excellent, so if you're having problems, give them a call.

I use cottons for bedding, towels and dark clothes like jeans and t-shirts, minimum iron for shirts and light coloureds and delicates for jumpers. I always run the machine with a full load on cottons and about 1/2-3/4 full on minimum iron (not because I'm fussy, just because that's the amount of light coloured items we have lol).

We've had Zanussi, Hotpoint and Beko washers in the past, but nothing has come close to how good our Miele is. The dryer is fantastic too. The dishwasher however was a total waste of money. It's fine, but nothing special. Wish I'd saved the money and got something else.

Does it have a high spin OP? Maybe its spinning too fast and doing something to the clothes. If the engineer comes out, they will test it as they plug the pc in whilst its running. Or have you tried it on a lower spin setting?

I have had my Miele for going on 18 years now. I honestly find no difference at all between powder and liquid.

I also have not had tired looking clothes either. I really think that there is something not right somewhere OP.

I feel for you OP! My Miele was great but short lived, as is common these days. Miele did used to be fantastic, back in the day. I know of plenty of washing machines that have made it into the late teens and early twenties without issues. Same with their vacumes.

The quality of the newer models is much, much worse. The Miele engineer herself said as much, much to my surprise. My washer died (well, it could have been fixed for 650 ish euros) after only 7 years, what a farce. It was grand while it lasted but no value for money there. I'd not buy one again even if I could afford it.

TBH they'd put themselves out of business if they kept on producing stuff that worked brilliantly for 15+ years on end, which may well be why they stopped
