kellys mission

Morning all.

Easy mission for me as we have a leather sofa and nothing gets lost down it. We also moved the sofa and the chair to hoover under it the other day and [swot emoticon]

Off out with DD this morning and then will try and do some housework this afternoon.

Have a good day all.

OK, so, I think I need to join this fly thread please. Housework has really been getting me down recently and is spiralling out of control- there's washing in several piles along the landing (it's at least sorted into correct colours etc), the living room looks like the site of a major disaster and the spare room is too depressing for words and beeds to be cleared before IL's visit over Christmas. I have two child-free mornings a week so need motivating to GET ON WITH IT!

shouldbedoinghousework · 28/11/2006 09:29

that's 'NEEDS to be cleared' not 'beeds to be cleared' although dd got the wretched hama beads out again last night so there are beads aplenty to hoover up too!

Jelley · 28/11/2006 09:33

morning,

Like the name, sbdh Come on in and join us.

No mission for me, as I did sofa diving last week, and took covers off to wash yesterday.

Everything else is a mess again. Wet washing to dry, kitchen looks like I didn't touch it yesterday, dds bedroom is starting to overflow into landing.

I will have breakfast, and start on the kitchen.

BudaBeast · 28/11/2006 09:36

HI all

Easy mission for me as clearner does sofa every week

But need to continue my decluttering - ws supposed to be following the missions and decluttering the same rooms but seem to have lost momentum.

Need to get some washing on too.

pippah · 28/11/2006 09:38

Just a quickie to say that my new little boy, Charlie, arrived last Monday. No FLYing for me for a while (I'm delegating it all), but thought I would share the good news...

BudaBeast · 28/11/2006 09:39

Yay - congratulations!!!

Am eagerly awaiting news from a friend who is having a section today. Tragically she had a little girl last Oct but the baby died. She is having another girl and is completely terrified poor love.

boomie · 28/11/2006 09:52

Well I'm back with a passion - want my house all sparkly and clean for Christmas!! So far this morning I have swished and swiped, school run, stripped all sofa covers and are in the wash as I speak. Just off to do a food shop.

DimpledThighs · 28/11/2006 10:02

I have lurked in the FLY threads for ages thinking how brilliant it is but I can't see it as me - I am so much further behind all of you - were you good housekeepers before you started flying and you just use it to guide you to little extras or were you in a state like me with piles upon piles upon piles???

shouldbedoinghousework · 28/11/2006 10:47

OK, first pile of laundry is in the machine. Kids books are back in place on bookcase.
Toys are in correct place in bedrooms and others are at least in playroom (but not away yet...)
Beds are made and upstairs is looking pretty reasonable
Have filled lg plastic box with "stuff" from spare room bed and will sort through it this evening.
Dishwasher is on, kitchen needs through clean and tidy though, so that's next on my list.
Living room will be tackled later- hope to find time to remove sofa covers and wash them but otherwise will hoover them thoroughly.
Ds due home at 1.30pm so need to get a move on!

ParanoidAndroid · 28/11/2006 10:51

Morning all. Welcome Dimpledthighs (great name by the way!) I think most of us would admit that we're not natural born housekeepers - apologies to those who feel they ARE. Flylady is just a way of developing a routine, and getting into the habit of doing regular stuff around the house.

I've been around for a few months, but have regressed and am starting again! I was going to start yesterday but spent the day recovering from the Scissor Sisters concert on Sunday night!

Ruby - are you there? I had to tell you that I wore my red shoes to the gig - damned uncomfortable for all the hours we were standing - but they looked fab! Especially with the pink fluffy-edged cowboy hat that I bought there!!!

Right, off to swish & swipe then beat the sitting room up. No housework has been done for two weeks because I've not been well, so the place looks horrific.

I'll catch up with you all later!

dreamteamgirl · 28/11/2006 11:18

Morning everyone

Sofa diving will have to wait till I get home, but I fear it will be bad under those cushions. Dont need to hoover under it as I did that when I was searching for the missing and only one that would do Mini that DS had lost (It WAS under there)

Shouldbedoinghousework welcome aboard, fab to have you here. I am fairly new to this thread too, although have been FLYing solo for a little while

*Dimpledthighs" Welcome welcome, another fabulouso name. No, I wasnt 'there' or a good housekeeper at all before FLYing. My house was, and still occasionally is, a bombsite. It was taking me an hour- hour and half just to tidy up enough so cleaner could come in and I never got anywhere

I started with the sink. As stupid as it sounds, it made me feel good and I phoned my mum and sis who took the pee out of me and said it would never last etc etc The next day I wiped the sink round (which took like 10 seconds) and thought how annoying it was the mess in the pot thing next to it (with old dish clothes in etc etc -you know the thing), so i threw it away and cleaned under it -I kneww here all the cleaning stuff was cos I had used it just the day before. that then led to clearing and cleaning the window sill, and still it was les than 10 mins, but that area of the kitchen looked amazing.

I guess it all just goes from there

Sorry its so long!

satinshoes · 28/11/2006 11:20

welcome shouldbedoinghousework and dimpledthighs.

Most of us are crap at housweork which is why we use FLY and this thread to motivate each other.

Start slowly and do 15 mins of decluttering every day. Do the babysteps on the fly website and if you can do the mission. Each week is a different zone in the house and gradually you find it becomes quicker to keep them tidy & clean

I'm back .

Congratulations pippah

Hello and welcome dimpledthighs.

Another one who is totally cr*p at housework, and hates it. If you go back a couple of months thereare pics of "before and after" showing that many of us were struggling.

Start with the shiny sink, and just do little bits every day.

Most of us signed up for the emails, and hav since cancelled them and use this thread for support instead.
reporting my achievements each day keeps me going[saddo]

Oh, and we don't wear shoes

I've moved Christmas presents under my bed (freshly cleaned out last week) tidied my bedroom, and done 15 mins in the bathroom.

Sink is shiny, Kitchen is ok.

Kids bedroom is a total disaster, but I just can't face it.
Kick up the bum time I think...

Hi everyone and new ones.
Congratulations Pippah.

Took DD1 to pre-school then came home and put the outside fibre optic tree up so the outside is all done now!
Tidied desk too.

Going to do lunch now then maybe tidy round kitchen(again) and hoover front room.

Then it will be time to pick DS's up from school.

twoisenoughmum · 28/11/2006 13:34

I want to FLY, I really do, I dream of improvement, I've shined my sink and we had a big tidy up at the weekend because had newish friends round for dinner, so it would be nice to capitalise on that ... but I just can't seem to make myself a member of that bloody website. I want to get the emails, don't I? You wouldn't believe the effing and jeffing that's been going on around here after my second attempt to join that Yahoo Group appears to have failed.

Think I'll just keep an eye on your threads, if that's ok with everyone. At least I'll know I'm with like-minded (housework hating) individuals.

Have to tackle baked on goo on my oven trays today, hoping Fairy Power Spray will do the trick. Bit sad, but still...

No you really DON'T want the Emails!
Most of us did but have since got them stopped. They are on the web site daily so you can read them there.

domesticslobess · 28/11/2006 14:51

Hi there ,when I first saw these threads I was scared as I thought it would be full of people who loved cleaning/housework-mightily relieved when realised that it was populated by like minded people who are not naturally organised and tidy and need motivation-I am a slob but fed up of living in squalor so so count me in! Last night DH asked "why is the sink clean...are you ok?....

satinshoes · 28/11/2006 14:57

Gosh, Lots of new people coming. Welcome.

You will all find you start to brag about the tiniest bit of cleaning you do

I just cleaned my living room windows and the glass in the interior doors. How cool is that?

DD asleep at the mo but midwife at 4.00 so see you later
