Cleaning glass oven door

My oven door has a glass section, which is dirty. But all oven cleaners (i have tried) just run down and fall off well before their time is up.

It does not seem to come off.

Anyone any tricks?

Brillo pad and elbow grease?

Dishwasher tablet. Dunk in water, and scrub.

Anything to harsh would just scratch the glass, so make it worse than it is now, so no to brillo pad.

Is that use the dishwasher tablet as the scrubbing device? Or dissolve it in water and use that water?

I use brillo pads on the inside of my glass oven door and it hasn't scratched it.

Yeah, that's how I did it. Just dip the tablet in some water until it softens a bit and scrub with it. It really works a treat! I just used cheap tablets from the pound shop as I don't have a dishwasher so had to buy them specially but they did the trick.
I'm fairly sure I got the idea from here so maybe have a search?

I have a glass scrapper from the DIY store for my oven glass. Doesn't scratch scratch it

I always use Brillo pads too. Never scratched mine.

I did mine yesterday, I put oven in max with roasting tin of water in to loosen all the grime. Then I applied a paste of bicarbonate and water (1 cup bicarbonate to 1/2 cup water) and smeared it all over, left it for 15 minutes and then went at is with a scrubbing brush and a kids dinner knife for the tough bits. Ran out of bicarb so still got the odd bit to do, will try the dishwasher tablet next

Those silver curly washing up scourers get it off easily. They come four to a pack. Forget what they are called.

They also remove limescale from shower doors and marble tops. No scratching.

I was having difficulty with mine. This will sound a bit shocking but l finished the job with sandpaper!
It was my son's idea (16) it actually worked, and didn't scratch! :)

I got a hint from a previous thread which worked very well - just fairy liquid and a wet cloth on a warm oven door.

I think the fairy might have worked 4 years ago, but some of it is very well cooked now.

Our door hadn't been done for around 4 years... You just need something mildly abrasive to help e.g. non-stick scourer or cotton cloth. Try it just after teatime when oven is cooling down. You might be pleasantly surprised!

Nothing abrasive is needed if you use a dishwasher tablet, it really is magic !

Hi, Oven Mate Oven Cleaning Kit is brilliant. I've seen it in Dunelm, Lakeland and in also catalogues like Betterware. The kit comes with everything you need including a brush so you can control where the gel goes, meaning you clean the bits you need without wasting the gel, therefore your money. The gel is thick so it doesn't run and it's easy to wipe off.

Astonish do a 'professional cleaning paste' which is very very mildly abrasive, works wonders and doesn't scratch. I have used it on my glass hob, cleans it like a dream :-)

Just done mine. Oven pride worked really well. My glass was brown!!! I left the gel on then went to town on it with a wire wool pad and a knife to scrape some bits and it is like new. Plus my bingo wings have had a workout!

I tried the dishwasher tablet trick as recommended on here, a while ago. It scratched the glass.

Bar keepers friend, mildly abrasive dry powder you work into a paste. Works amazingly & doesn't damage glass.

George,the tablet should be almost a paste from dunking it in boiling water, don't see how it can scratch
