Morning Squatchette - and everyone else.

My flying has been a bit slack of late so I haven't been on the thread much. But I did do each of kelly's missions last week, so I may be back on track.

Trouble is I'm getting sidetracked by Christmas!

ludaloo · 12/11/2006 09:02

oooh I like the sound of the red onion one squat...

here's the Sweet Apple one..

Place 200g (2lb) of apples, peeled and chopped in a large pan.
Add 450g (1lb) chopped red onion.
Add 450g (1lb) dark, soft brown sugar
And 425ml (3/4pt) of white wine vinegar.

Bring slowly to the boil over a gentle heat until sugar is dissolved.
Boil rapidly for about 35 mins til soft and thick.
Allow to cool then stir in 15g (1/2oz) mustard seeds.
Add 1/2tsp of ground cinnamon.
Pot, seal, label and leave 1 month before serving

(hmm...if I got a shuffle on I could just about leave it a month!)

Hope thats of use

Morning all.
DD's let me sleep this morninmg. They were playing in their room until DD2 needed a wee.
I might have to start setting an alarm for mornings i need to get up,just incase they do it more often.
Have totally cleared one worktop at last!
No-one has had breakfast yet.Bad mummy didn't put the DW on so no clean bowls and i used up the butter on my toast last night so can't do toast for breakfast either!
Go to town for butter soon and plan to do as much as possible today.
Cold is a bit better so far this morning.
Why so tired Q? Bad night?

squatchette · 12/11/2006 09:23

Thanks for that Lud .I will post the recipe when i get a minute.
DD2 just got up and i forgot to get extra milk (no delivery on sunday). So i need to get us all dressed and go to shop. She's very impatient and rightly so must be thirsty .Ok back soon, and will post it .

Morning all.

DH has gone to supermarket with DD so I'm on here

He has gone over the bathroom and bedroom with the carpet cleaner this morning so that's the whole house done which is great!

I have to regrout some tiles later in the bathroom and clean up our spare room as it is uninhabitable.

Other than that not much on. May take DD to park this afternoon...

Have a good day all.

squatchette · 12/11/2006 10:17

Ludaloo-Red onion marmalade
2 tblspns olive oil
1 kg(about6) Red onions,peeled and finely chopped
small glass red wine
75 ml/3 fl oz balsamic vinegar
6 tblspns soft dark brown sugar
1 large kiln jar

1 in a non stick frying pan, heat oil add onions and a little salt+pepper.Cook over a medium heat for 15mins(don't let onions brown just soften).

2 Turn up heat add wine then vinegar.Stir until combined then reduce heat, add sugar and stir well.Leave to simmer for 45 mins stiring now and then till most of liquid has evaporated.Check seasoning, spoon into jars and let cool.Leave flavour to develop for a few days.

Nice with sausage and mash or crusty bread and stilton(if you like mouldy cheese yuk).

sahmtotwo · 12/11/2006 10:39

Morning Fly babies,

Glad to see most of you are hail and hearty this morning.

Q definatly think that you deserve a nap with all your DIYing. But we still do really NEED to see piccies lol.

D/W emptyed and filled with yesterdays stuff. Didn't do it yesterday No brekkie stuf for us today as DH got us a treat, pancakes from McD's double . So naughty but so nice.

DS's are going in the bath in a minute and then I'm going to put away the weeks worth of washing that seems to have collected while they are out the way..

See you ladies later.

IvortheEngine · 12/11/2006 10:48

Hi ludaloo. Oh, I think I've spotted you on another thread about the Aber area. You live in a village starting with P which has a long name, I think. Does it have 2 pubs? Is it the one with the new hall which is massive and used for concerts and things, or is that the other one?

It's okay, tinshoes, I knew it was you really! Childrens' names is one of my fave topics.

My must do thing today is to find a couple of envelopes relating to pensions which I'm pretty sure I've neglected to read. Sigh. Dd is also not well but has a dance class today and an exam tomorrow. I don't know if I'll be able to work at all tomorrow or whether I should keep her off school and just focus on the exam. Unless she perks up a lot she won't be right for school and I don't know whether she should give the exam a miss. We'd have to have a doctor's note to get our money back; not that it matters that much I suppose.

Quootiepie · 12/11/2006 11:12

I give in!!! Im loading the camera software now...

tortoise · 12/11/2006 11:35

We have butter now and the DW has finished.I can at last feed my poor DD's!

tortoise · 12/11/2006 12:20

DW emptied,re-filled and switched on! That shows how bad the kitchen was.
TD emptied and re-filled!
DD2 put to bed.Don't expect her to stay there.I only did it because she is constantly whining for her dummy and is only allowed it in bed!

Awww Ruby that sounds great.
Sorry about your parents too.Glad you feel more able to move on a bit now.I can only imagine how hard it would be.

Quootiepie · 12/11/2006 13:11

oh, like Clarins Beauty Flash Balm?

tortoise · 12/11/2006 13:48

Have made shortbread biscuits with DD's.Used Christmas shape cutters. And while listening to a Christmas songs cd!

Quootiepie · 12/11/2006 13:49

my god.... its november! I havent even started making my Christams cakes yet they will be very weak at this rate!

squatchette · 12/11/2006 14:56

I'm feeling more panic everytime Christmas is mentioned.I realy think we start preparing so early it kind of dilutes how special it is in a way.I think Xmas is for December and although it'd be nice to get organised i don't think i'll be doing ant shopping or decorating the house until last week of November at soonest.
I'm of all you who have it done and dusted already though.
Oh sugar just realised what time it is i better go and prepare the tea another crockpot dish so needs ages to cook .See you all in a while!

squatchette · 12/11/2006 14:57

Yes i musn't forget the ants presents!oops should have obviously said any.

tinshoes · 12/11/2006 15:40

hi all.

well, i had a 2 hour nap this afternoon . DH had DD so has now gone up for his turn

no flying but the house is actually looking pretty ok. quite please its the bathroom and 1 extra room next week as my bathroom and spare room need attention - everywhere else is not bad.
