hi all. feeling to feeble to read all posts but fyi, Been to Dr and he says my asthma is much worse so he has given me a preventer (steroid) inhaler as well as my ventolin. I said i felt pants about taking all these drugs but he said I'd be no use in labour if i'm already exhausted and not breathing properly - guess he has a point.

nothing doing for me for rest of day...

tinshoes · 07/11/2006 12:31

ps - Q, try ecover limescale remover, or a descaler tablet.

Quootiepie · 07/11/2006 12:34

Afternoon.
Hope poorly people feel better soon.
Ive had a bust morning. Took DD1 to pre-school and then tidied their bedroom. Opened their blind and curtains this morning to find the small window broken on the inside outside is ok as double glazing. Phone my HA who I rent house off of and they said 'sorry we don't do window/glass replacement but can send someone out to do it for you.It will cost around £170!!' Yeah like ive got that much stored under the bed for emergancies! Totally pissed off as there is no way i can afford to pay for it to be fixed. I can only assume it broke with heat inside and cold out. Now i'm worried more will break.
Time to do lunch now then it will be nearly time to pick DS's up.

thanks guys. i have 5 weeks to go.....DD was eraly so i'm hoping this one will be too.

ludaloo · 07/11/2006 13:11

oooh bloody windows Tort!!! I doubt more will crack...maybe that one had a weakness in it somewhere?
Hope it gets sorted anyway!

I have vaccumed kitchen and cleaned fridge out...just off to tidy dd2 up after a jacket potato explosion! She is actually currently trying to balance bits of potato on her nose LOL!!!!

Quootiepie · 07/11/2006 13:12

Tort - that doesnt sound right... they own the windows, and should maintain them. Get them to get it via their buildings insurance?

OP posts:
tortoise · 07/11/2006 13:15

Forgot that i also put a load of clothes away this morning!
Well i never saw a crack so i really don't know. I have no way of getting it fixed. Never had to get a window repaired so don't even know where to look for quotes!

ludaloo · 07/11/2006 13:21

does it say in your tenancy agreement that windows won't be fixed??
Surely if you didn't actually physically smash it then your landlord should at least help towards the cost???
I think our landlord would if anything happend like that...what a meanie landlord!!!!!!!

ludaloo · 07/11/2006 13:23

If you just left it would you get cold?...or is it dangerous??
I'd leave it...if it is double glazed it should be safe enough...mind you I bet he'd take it out your bond!

Quootiepie · 07/11/2006 13:26

lol @ meanie.

Id imagine it can be claimed on insurance... its not as if you broke it.

OP posts:
tortoise · 07/11/2006 13:28

She said it says in tenency handbook that windows are not covered even if its not my fault (unless its crimanal damage).
Its not going to let cold in i don't think as outside looks intact. DD's shouldn' be able to touch it so no injury risk. I know if i ever move they will charge for it though.

Quootiepie · 07/11/2006 13:29

maybe find out if the windows are under garuntee?

OP posts:
tortoise · 07/11/2006 13:32

I have no idea how long the windows have been here.Doubt they have a very long guarentee if any. I'm relieved it wasn't a big window!

ludaloo · 07/11/2006 13:32

hmmmm....thats what I thought when I said just leave it...they'll get you to pay for it eventually...did you pay a bond?....you could just leave it and see?????

tortoise · 07/11/2006 13:39

Bond? No idea!
I'm going to have to leave it for now i think. Might cover it with a bit of cardboard later.

ludaloo · 07/11/2006 13:49

we had to pay a months rent in advance when we moved in...its called a bond...you get it back when you move out if all is well....

tortoise · 07/11/2006 13:51

No didn't have to do that. Its local HA so they don't ask for an advance.

SUSIntoSpaceandback · 07/11/2006 13:53

meanie they are!!!!! can't believe they won't fix it!! but since it's only a very small window i can' see it cost £170 either
none you know who could fix it if you provide for the glass??

well i have an off day too
haven't done anything at all!!!
well, don't think so

i am just glad i struggle through the day as it is with looking after kids ... that's it.

i've just put the BM on (luckily remembered that we are low on bread)

ludaloo · 07/11/2006 14:01

Well I still think its very mean!!!! Its obviously just wear and tear type of thing!!!
Hope you get it sorted tort!

Surfermum · 07/11/2006 14:02

Yay! It's today's job anyway so two things ticked off for me. I always set myself a task as well as Fly lady's.

Do you have house insurance Tortoise? Could you claim on that.
