We're having a major re-decoration in our house.
We've just bought this wallpaper and am about to buy 2 of these for some wall light fittings we have.

Do you think this would go with everything as a main light fitting, bearing in mind the wall ones are glass?

Thanks!

Not sure - what do they mean by 'non-electric'? Just that it's just the shade? The glass ones strike me as quite formal, and the mother of pearl one as a bit less so, but the shape echoes the flowers in the wallpaper quite well. (not sure this is any help, just rambling)

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 31/10/2006 11:00

lol.
not sure about the non electric thing. I thought the same, that the discs would look good with the flowers but its the fact its going with glass that bothers me.

Would be alot easier if dh could make a blummin decision!

i like the lights but dont think they go well together sorry

i would stick with the wall fittings and get a different main one, something glass but quite
plain would be better imo, but its difficult online to guess!

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 31/10/2006 11:02

Is this too ornate? Or possibly too small?

nailpolish · 31/10/2006 11:03

thats gorgeous jackie

i have something similar in my lounge (2, we have 2 main lights in the lounge)

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 31/10/2006 11:04

Yeah, I like it but its a bit small. I need a bigger one as we have a huge ceiling rose and its quite a big room.

Ooh - or HOmebase have some nice stuff too - how about this ? (I think non electrical means that it's just the shade, and not the bit that attaches to the ceiling and has the light bulb attached, iyswim)

nailpolish · 31/10/2006 11:06

that looks good, and its a fifth of the price!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 31/10/2006 11:06

I think I agree with you NP.
It has to be glass doesnt it.

whats your furniture like? can you go contemporary?

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 31/10/2006 11:09

Thats nice too JN.
Its tempting. Think I'll just check the size and see if its too small.

Lovely stuff at John Lewis - but might be too contemporary for you?

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 31/10/2006 11:13

Furniture is a dark wood more oldy than contempory but modern could work.
We've also just painted the hallway which has a more modern feel to it.

btw - I think the HOmebase one is so cheap because it's acrylic, not glass - might not be as good in RL.

CountessDracula · 31/10/2006 11:14

how about this

nailpolish · 31/10/2006 11:14

omg this is fucking gorgeous!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 31/10/2006 11:14

Ahhh forgot to add the wall fittings are gold and very intricate.

Gorgeous light though, really really like that.

Love this one but I suspect it's not really what you're after. THe dark bits could pick out the darker colours in the furniture and wallpaper, though?

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 31/10/2006 11:15

Ah - OK - gold not silver, sorry!

nailpolish · 31/10/2006 11:16

this

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 31/10/2006 11:16

OMG I love it!
Just a bit pricy now lol

I'm very difficult at times.
