What's your most loathed household chore? Mine has to be cleaning the back of the toilet (where the hinges are) where my two ds's insist on peeing there. It's gross! I hate cleaning those little puddles even worse is when they miss the bowl completely and pee on the floor, or into shoes that have been discarded next to the toilet

I get most 'job satisfaction' from cleaning the bathrooms when they're grotty. I love giving them a good going over until they're all shiny and sweet smelling again. Oh, and arranging all the shampoo bottles on the side of the bath so they look like they're on a shop shelf. Sad? Who? Me? What are you lot's most loathed and least loathed domestic chore?

Most loathed - washing up

covenoveneer · 27/10/2006 11:13

Most loathed - ironing

Least loathed - hoovering.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2006 11:14

folding clothes.

Cappuccino · 27/10/2006 11:16

tidying up

don't mind cleaning but tidying up is just endless, my house is constantly full of little piles

I go in a clockwise direction round my kitchen worktops but they become untidy so quickly that I could spend all day in her, just rotating and rotating around

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 27/10/2006 11:21

most loved: researching household managemet techniques and recipes on MN

most hated: sorting clothes

QuootieSpookypie · 27/10/2006 11:26

I hate - anything to do with behind the loo, folding clothes.

Quite like - cleaning bathroom & kitchen

Cappuccino · 27/10/2006 11:27

arf filly yes

can spend ages reading about the best ways to do it

then have a beer

Charleesunnysunsun · 27/10/2006 11:35

Most - Washing up (I dont do washing up)

Least - Hoovering/washing

Zippetydoodahzippetyday · 27/10/2006 11:38

Most loathed - cleaning the oven. As a result it only gets done once every 3 months or something oh also, cleaning the toilet, I do this every day but just with the toilet brush, just cannot get my hands down, it really repulses me.

Least loathed - doing the washing and general tidying up. I hate it when the house is messy.

JessaJackOLantern · 27/10/2006 11:43

changing the kitchen bin bag isn't a favourite

Quite philosophical about putting loads of washing on/hanging out to dry etc

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 27/10/2006 11:43

HATE : Anything toilet related - boak

LOVE : Hoovering/Carpet cleaning

themoon666 · 27/10/2006 14:09

Hate - trying to get the wee out from round the hinges of the loo seat (why is it not a sealed system?).

Ok with - window and mirror cleaning.

zippy34 · 27/10/2006 14:54

Most loathed - emptying the kitchen bin. I keep trying to make it dh's job but it becomes a test of nerves as to who can pile more into it before it's classed as "full" and I always give in first

Least loathed - cleaning the bathroom as small and satisfying for it to be fresh and clean. It doesn't seem to gather as much junk as everywhere else.

Sophiev73 · 27/10/2006 14:58

Most loathed - washing up and putting away clean clothes - little piles that just get moved from pillar to post...

Least loathed - ironing... A room to myself, radio on, nice smell, flattened clothes...ahh...

Belgianchox · 27/10/2006 15:01

Loath mopping the floors, bizarrely, love hoovering them.

Mumpbump · 27/10/2006 15:05

Most loathed - either doing the washing or making the bed. Don't know why...

Least loathed - cleaning bathroom/kitchen. Hugely satisfying when they're clean and shiny as you say...

I hate:

cleaning the over / grill
sorting cupoboards
dusting under furniture
washing nets and curtains
washing up scrambled egg pans and similar
making beds with clean linen
putting laundry away

I dont mind:
ironing
hanging washing on line
hoovering
general tidying

Skyler · 27/10/2006 15:41

Hate - Mopping floors
Don't mind - Ironing.

babe1 · 27/10/2006 18:44

I'm with you on putting the clean bedding on, MaloryTowers, and point blank refuse to do it. That's my DH's department.

What about pets? Pet owners - how do you feel about picking up dog poo or cleaning out litter trays? Bizarrely, that doesn't bother me, but picking up endless Golden Retriever hairs does...

I hate hoovering, ironing, tidying and loading the dishwasher (icky sticky yuck.)

I don't mind cleaning windows, unloading the dishwasher and laundry (cloth nappy user so it's the one bit of housework that is autopilot for me.) I'm even starting to enjoy changing our bedlinen (now at least twice a month since hanging out on this forum!) and want to convince dh that we need a new vac so I can do the mattress.

JonesTheSteam · 27/10/2006 19:21

Most loved - ironing.

Most loathed - putting the clothes away!!!

MorticiaRed · 27/10/2006 19:25

I hate all of it! Keep telling DH that I wasn't born to do housework but he seems to think I am joking! (He does do his fair share ) xx

Just an idea but we painted a bullseye target using nail polish on the back of the toilet and got DS1 to aim at that. He thought it was great fun and really loved doing it.

As for house work I just loath it full stop nothing to love about it lol
