never used febreeze in my life and dont intend to start now

Skribble · 27/10/2006 11:41

I hoovered mine the last time and as I have a darkish mattress cover I was how much "dust" I hoovered up. Ok its not dust it is tiny flakes of dead skin, yuch! Funny it was much worse on DH's side, mind you his skin is much dryer than mine and I sit on his side to do my legs with a silky mitt .

batinshoes · 27/10/2006 12:39

lol @scribble sandpapering her legs on dh's side of the bed

Skribble · 27/10/2006 12:49

I do put a towel down!

Bye off to do my errands whilst having fun

peegeeweegeeWITCH · 27/10/2006 13:32

okayyyy, I used Febreeze on my mattress but am happy to stop if there are some ecological/health reasons for it (and there are probably tons!!)

Also, where can I get patchouli oil from??

asleep · 27/10/2006 13:34

i got patchouli oil from holland & barrett.

JessaJackOLantern · 27/10/2006 13:46

As usual I will be ignoring the chemical excesses of FLYlady ( one woman eco-saboteur that she is!)and will avoid the febreeze (I will admit to using it in the past, until I found better ways of masking cat and dog smell...and still have a bottle somewhere...)
Will try the patchouli tip.

My sink wasn't very shiny to start with, but then half the kitchen ceiling fell in it last night so I think I can be excused today!!!

batinshoes · 27/10/2006 14:13

Have heard nothing bad about febreze but i dont use any spray air fresheners at all as i just think its extra chemicals in the house.

I DO use bleach and CIF in the kitchen but I now use Ecover limescale remover, washing up liquid, handwash and toilet cleaner. I'm trying to do my bit....

zippy34 · 27/10/2006 14:49

I hate Febreeze because dh got in the habit of using it in his smelly shoes, a task for which it (or any freshener thing) was not equal, so the smell of it is indelibly linked in my mind to that of smelly feet...

Hello! I'm a newbie FLYer. I'm on mat leave at the moment (birth of first dc imminent) and am trying to get into better habits so that we don't sink into filth. Well, at least so we don't sink too far.

Apronscreams · 27/10/2006 15:28

Morning all, in a much better frame of mind today. Ready for some cleaning its 10.30 for me, only changed the bed on Sunday but will do it again - do the bicarb thing and consider it a friday night treat (how times have changed!!)

Also done a food shop and a load of laundry already. dd2 slept through for the first time in ages (she should fall downstairs more often) and woke in a great mood. Fell asleep on the way home from safeway ,so I'll go and get on and catch up with yesterdays news etc later (was a bit self absorbed yesterday

SusiSkelletonInTheCloset · 27/10/2006 16:27

who sent me that boot up my bumm???

i actually managed to finally do the bathroom - lots of things went straight into the bin, everything's scrubbed and clean and even the kids toys are less now (the net was always falling down because it was just overloaded!)
so rather pleased with today

both kids have just fallen asleep.
ds half sitting on the sofa
dd in her cot - dosed up because of her teething
and i think dp is not far off

ludaloo · 27/10/2006 16:37

Skribble..you can get Borax..and much more from www.summernaturals.co.uk...or Boots apparently.

I love the smell of febreeze...reminds me of my dd1...I don't buy it now though..too expensive.
I vaccum the matress but don't spray it...I get paranoid then and have to flip it and vaccum the other side too

ludaloo · 27/10/2006 16:40

oh and I sprinkled bicarb on it too..left it a while then vaccumed it off....I pinched that idea from JARM on monday

Cappuccino · 27/10/2006 17:09

glad that this thread is greening up - sometimes I have very nearly emailed Flylady to say yes, 20lbs of trash in a landfill does matter, and ffs why are you using your tumble dryer when you live in an area so sunny you can wear a T-shirt every day

have restrained myself however for fear that an essay will come through telling the international fly community about how this terrible woman wanted her to change her ways and this was all just an example of the perfection that was going to ruin us all

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 27/10/2006 17:56

Hi all. I am Feeling like S* today. A stinking headache since 3am last night. It just wont go A very bad case of man flu I think but I have to keep going. I cant wait until its DC bed time as I can then crash out myself. I have been under my duvet on the sofa for most of the day. Just moving when I have too. DS2 and DD been jumping on me or cuddling up with me. DS1 has just been watching tv or playing. Hes not really a cuddly DC. If I get him to do cuddles and he is not in the mood then he fights.

I have done no FLYing today. Not even the daily jobs. All I have done is get breakie, lunch, tea and drinks for DC and drinks for me today. The kitchen is getting mess, the lounge looks like a bomb has hit it and I just don't care.

Yahoooooo 90 minutes and the 3 DC will be in bed.

I`m going to see if I can read up on todays goss.

Hi, just popping in briefly to ask Skribble to do another link to her Ebay shop here. Cheers.
House is a tip, have not flyed for a week .
DH got stuck in Croydon today so has decided to spend the night jollying it up in London with an old uni friend. I only got the message when me and the kids came home for tea so now it's too late to go out for a bottle of wine. Tempted to bundle them up and whizz down to the Spar shop but how much of a wino does that make me? No alcohol in the house and I can't take it!!!

Apronscreams · 27/10/2006 18:33

I once did that bucket - it was a friday night - I had been expecting a drink, so I put the children in the car and went and got one - its your friday too after all!

I think you need only woory when you leave the children at home and go out for a drink!

hazelnut - roll on bed time - hope yuo feel better for the weekend

Skribble · 27/10/2006 18:56

Thanks Skribble, will have a look for stocking stuff in a mo (nearly done all my Xmas shopping and my tree arrived this am from Ebay!).
I decided I was too hungry to go out so I put the kids to bed and am waiting for a frozen feta & spinach pastry thing to cook.
Got a text from Dh and my heart leapt hoping it would be him at the station surprising me but nope, it was just to say he had found his mate in London. I did give him a great guilt trip earlier though saying it sounded like he'd had a horrible day so I worry about him getting run down so he should do whatever he thinks will make him feel better. This should ensure I have Sunday to myself - might go see a grown up flick by myself.

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 27/10/2006 19:27

Ruby, LOL at your quiz. My nephew (8) wants a maths test at his next birthday party!

All is forgiven! He just called to say he's on his way home after all although will probably not get in until 10ish. Said he was feeling soppy and would try and get a bottle if there was anywhere open. Must have been my evil caniving 'worrying' about him.

squatchette · 27/10/2006 20:19

Evening everyone,
ooh iceskating i haven't done that for years used to go every week can't wait till mine are big enough !
Well i've been really busy today, gave the kitchen a top to bottom clean fridge, floors utility room etc.
Living room tidied hoovered and dusted.
Took DD2 to hospital appointment and DD1 came for the toys couldn't get them to leave as usual.
Did the food shopping, bought rest of Haloween stuff and spent too much so got cheapo nappies to compensate.
Kids just had tea bathed them this morning so they're playdoughing in kitchen now till bedtime when ever they decide that will be.
Plan to finnish bedroom off this weekend and get DP to complete painting the living room.Have locked all drawing materials away upstairs as DD1 took a dark blue felt tip to freshly painted wall last wkend. So that's my exciting life
