is your dishwasher awesome?

My dishwasher is dying. Please help me replace it! Would prefer to spend less than £300 if poss. White or black would be ok. Help!

No, it's a cunt. Don't by Zanussi they are shit. The repair people are shit too, they gave up and replaced shit Zanussi with a brand new model Zanussi, which is just as much of a cunt as the first one.

Have to agree with the zanussi assessment. We've just bought a super-cheap Beko dishwasher, literally the cheapest one we could find and its fab! It was £179. Prior to the zanussi we had a Bosch one which was supposed to be great but kept dying every Christmas. I'm going to stick with cheap from now on.

Yes, but it only arrived just before christmas and I have no previous dishwasher history for comparison. It's a beko, integrated and paying the astronomical installation and removal of old appliance fee (hasn't worked since we moved in) was really, really worth it.

I have always been happy with Bosch, currently have a Siemens which is designed and built by the same company (BSH is jointly owned) but slightly upmarket.

I see John Lewis prices start at £250 for Bosch and £300 for Siemens. If you see last year's model reduced to clear, grab it. Two years guarantee is usual.

Cost an arm and leg but I'd trust it to wash my remaining limbs to be fair

My mum bought us a Bosch as a housewarming present 11 yrs ago. It's still going.

Disclaimer - DH is the kind of man who enjoys taking things apart and fixing them, this has happened 2 or 3 times in the dishwashers life.

I love my Bosch. Over ten years old now but still works great and so, so quiet! You can have it running, be sitting at the table six feet away, and not hear a thing. Love it.

Nope it's a wanker. It's an Ikea integrated one and the bottom shelf keeps falling off the rails. It is really fucking annoying.

I would NOT reccommend it.

or an IKEA integrated Fridge Freszer that is too shallow to fold a bottle of wine! FFS

no, it is useless. A Gaggenau (installed by previous owners in an IKEA kitchen) that stops mid-cycle for no reason, and if you open it 2 mins before the end of a wash it starts all over again. I wish it would break properly so I could replace it with something cheaper.

YES...but its now 22/23 years old, only three programmes and has only needed a new hose last year and I think a new element.

I would like a built in and have saved a door thinking I would need it soon but its been sat in a cupboard for 14 years

my bosch logixx is good and has worked ok for nearly 5 years with the only problem being a bit of plastic stuck in the pump impeller.

Just don't go with a cheap one from Currys! Mines a Currys Essentials CDW60W10. It is shit, it leaves stuff dirty, and you can't put the plates in every slot in the rack as it's so close together they just don't get clean, so I have to put them in every other slot, which is a waste of space. Plus the rack won't stay out, while you're loading and unloading, it's forever sliding back inside. Oh and occasional the spinning arm will randomly fall off just to be a dick. Hmm

I have had different ones over the years and they were nothing outstanding. Then my DB was getting a new kitchen and donated me his Bosch, it's brilliant. I think he had it about 7 years and I've had it 1, no problems at all.

Hmmm. Our dishwasher is about 598mm wide and a v close fit. Looks like the bosches are 600mm. Sounds trivial but I don't think it will work. I notice that "semi-integrated" machines are generally 595mm. Would I be able to fit one of those? Presuming I could get a door panel. Do I need anything else? I might have a spare section of plinth somewhere. The dishwasher currently is in a hole with a cabinet end panel on one side and the kitchen wall on the other.

We have a cheap Beko. Got it a couple of weeks after William and Kate got married. Thought it would be a nice memento. (Not really. Were on holiday that week in a cottage with a dishwasher, and were converted.)

Anyway, only mentioned that to give you an idea of how long we've had it.

It's fine, no probs with it to date. We have some bowls with indented dips in the bottom of them, and if you put them in exactly flat, the indented section does collect water which the drying cycle is obviously unable to cope with, so needs a quick soak up with a tea towel. As this is our first dishwasher, we don't know how unacceptable this is, and as everything else comes out clean and dry, we've no complaints.

We have the cheapest Miele- tis great, much better than the cheap Zanussi we used to have. Always put it on the hottest cycle though as none of the others ever seem to work- perhaps due to my haphazard loading skills....?

Yes, my dishwasher is great. He gets everything clean first time and hasn't ever broken down. I'm not sharing him though as I am not into open relationships, my husband is for me only and is only allowed to wash our dishes Grin

10 year old Neff here, still going strong. Had a new filter recently, which I ordered from Amazon for under a tenner.

I think Bosch and Neff are the same manufacturer anyway.

Yes. However, it's a Miele and I was lucky enough to get it free in the MN product trial!
