Name ONE Chore you would happily never do again

I am fed up to the back teeth of cooking, or maybe I mean 'catering'. I'm fed up of thinking of meals, of doing a shopping list, buying the effing stuff, preparing it, dishing it up, clearing it away, wiping the bloody kitchen surfaces and then doing it all over again the next day. DH does some days but I'm just fed up with it generally. If it was just me and DH I wouldn't bother. Cottage cheese and tomato rolls every day for me, thank you very much. Name one household chore you would love NEVER to have to do again. Mine is

COOKING

Hanging washing out on the airer that takes up half the size of the kitchen then having to put it away when dh decides to cook (usually something smelly) Angry washing up and cleaning the cooker are also top of the list! Don't get me wrong Im grateful that dh cooks but put the damn washing away first!! I always have to run in and "remind" him it will make the clothes stink!!

TheWindowDonkey · 14/01/2015 23:32

Ooooh Mutters, i LOVE doing our logs, wanna sawp for some cooking?? ;)

Egog · 14/01/2015 23:55

Cat litter tray. Bleurgh.

CointreauVersial · 15/01/2015 00:17

Another vote for COOKING. Together with all the clearing up, scraping plates, dishwasher loading, wiping surfaces. Sucks up hours of my time.

When I win the lottery I'm eating out every night.

KoalaDownUnder · 15/01/2015 00:22

Picking up dog poo. Sad

superpoodle · 15/01/2015 01:20

Doing the dishes !!! This could easily be overcome by purchasing a dish washer but unfortunately we have no room at all Sad

Qwebec · 15/01/2015 04:08

paperwork here too. can't stand it

HalberHahn · 15/01/2015 04:27

Ironing and cleaning the shower.

Mrsteddyruxpin · 15/01/2015 05:09

Windows - every single day ours smear (and the TV )

Cannot find a local window cleaner ....grrrr ( cute but toddler smears them)

Even if I did it wouldn't be enough

Even my car windows need washing inside

HappenstanceMarmite · 15/01/2015 05:20

Putting duvet cover on. Which is an inconvenient hate as I have an addiction to nice bedding.

Whoreandpeace · 15/01/2015 08:25

Yes, it is 8.25 and I am bloody COOKING again, frying up onions and cooking the chicken so that when I come home from work half the work is done and I can heat it up and finish off the sauce. I HATE it. I don't enjoy eating it either. At some point today I need to work out the menu for next week so that I can do my food online order (HATE HATE HATE). Trouble is I can't see this chore ending any time soon......

What bothers me is the cyclical neverending-ness of the whole damn lot. Plan, shop, cook, eat-and-nag-at-the-same-time, clear up, start again. Tidy, dust, wipe, hoover, start again. Assemble dirty clothing, wash, dry, fold or iron (rarely!), put away, start again. Encourage plants to grow, chop 'em down, start again. I fantasize about house burning down (without or without loss of DH/DC depending on my mood) and "having" to live in a hotel for the rest of my life.

It seems the only rational solution is to just walk away.

HermioneGrangerHair · 15/01/2015 13:06

Mrsteddyruxpin - you know if you stop cleaning the windows they stop getting dirtier after a while Wink

Anything to do with laundry is bad. Cleaning the seal of the washing machine is the worst.

everythingsgoingsouth · 15/01/2015 13:50

Floors-cleaning and hovering them. HATE IT!

TiedUpWithString · 15/01/2015 16:22

The insides of window and door frames where all the crap collects and squashed spiders or spiders nests. hate it.

I also immensely dislike washing up and would love a dishwasher so much.

I like hanging out laundry. Its like a puzzle on the line Smile.

I like washing now I have a new machine that sings at me when its finished.

I adore eating therefore adore cooking. I also quite like making DD's lunchbox and carving shapes into her babybel...

I hate cleaning up dog nose art on the back door window.

Mumstudentbum · 15/01/2015 18:06

Putting laudey away. Don't mind washing/drying but putting it away... Urghhh

Whoreandpeace · 15/01/2015 19:32

Yes laundry is a bore too, but luckily DH does help quite a bit with that as he works from home so he will unload machine, hang stuff up and then take it down again AND do ironing in the evening when watching tv. I don't put laundry away now that the kids are all teens. They have to put their own stuff away and if they don't then the next batch doesn't get ironed in protest. On the landing I have a quidgy cylindrical thing that I chuck all clean underwear into and DCs have to go and find their own underwear, as I am blowed if I'm going to sort it out for them. Once a fortnight I summons them into our bedroom, chuck the lot on the bed and make them take their own socks/tights/knickers/pants away. It is amazing how much underwear no-one in this house claims responsibility for.

But it is still the whole food thing that drives me mad. I have come to hate being in the kitchen. All that bloody wiping down that needs doing all the time.

Laundry- the whole process...

Washing, drying, folding, putting away...arrggghhh endless!

rabbit123 · 15/01/2015 20:38

I love cleaning. I love vacuuming and dusting and doing the laundry and cleaning the kitchen. I'm always at it.

But I detest cleaning the oven. We don't really use the oven all that much and it still manages to get filthy!

helzapoppin2 · 16/01/2015 00:36

Cooking is my least favourite, too.
My imagination has run out of new things to cook, after a gazillion years of doing it. Just occasionally I produce something tasty and healthy, otherwise I cook like an eighties pub chef, lasagne, moussaka, shepherds pie, etc.

It doesn't help that DH has "commented on" everything I've cooked, daily, for years. It's become a bit of a joke. His comments, not my cooking!

SonorousBip · 16/01/2015 11:09

LOL, I think I am a bit of an 80's pub chef myself Smile.

I LOATHE changing beds. Those nasty tight fitted sheets, which you have to ping into place and it always involves you half climbing on the bed up against a wall. The complete palaver of getting a duvet cover on. The fact that the dirty ones take up so much space. Pah. Don't mind changing pillow cases, though.

TiedUpWithString · 16/01/2015 11:44

Loving the 80s pub chef!

flipping mattresses. I have broken stuff doing that.

morethanpotatoprints · 16/01/2015 11:46

Cleaning the cooker, because I'm a lazy cow who leaves it too late then its a huge job.

The hob is cleaned after cooking everyday, but the oven is often left to rot Grin
