how often do you vac your stairs and how (am just about to get carpet for first time)

how many duvet covers do you have and how often do you wash/change them (to solve duvet-cover dilemma)

Do stairs twice a week and have 2 duvet sets per bed but only have plain white so very easy

Donbean · 08/10/2006 20:22

i do my stairs every 2/3 days because ive got dark blue carpet which shows every thing up.
use my dyson hand piece.
I have about 6 different duvet covers and erm dont change them as often as i should...

Branster · 08/10/2006 20:23

stairs get vacuumed once a week with one of those pointy tools from the hoover box.

we use 4 duvet sets, rotate them by changing once a week. probably three sets would be enough though.

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 08/10/2006 20:24

gawd... every 2 weeks? we have an odd shaped place and dont use stairs often.

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 08/10/2006 20:26

3 duvet covers (all temp) will get more when I decide on a colour scheme. Wash when DS pukes on them or about once a week...sometimes more

foxinsocks · 08/10/2006 20:33

I hoover when it becomes obvious I haven't hoovered for a while - so visible dirt (we don't have carpet on the stairs so no cleaning has to be done there!)

Not sure about duvet covers - think we have 3, the kids have a lot more but were reflux children so we have total overload on the bed linen.

Probably change them every couple of weeks I guess.

batinshoes · 08/10/2006 21:07

hoover every 1-2 weeks depending on how mucky. have a cylinder hoover so pretty easy.

have about 8 duvet covers and rotate them depending on what pattern/colour i feel like at the time.

mummyplonk · 08/10/2006 21:11

Hoover stairs once a week, however they need it more judging by my 18 month old crawling up the stairs picking up things saying "dirty" as he hands me a bit of fluff.

cece · 08/10/2006 21:21

Hoover stairs about every 3 weeks or so - whenever it looks 'dirty'

have 2 duvet covers per bed and change fortnightly in winter, weekly in summer

Beauregard · 08/10/2006 21:28

Hoover stairs every day or at least every other
Have 2 or 3 duvet covers per bed and change them fortnightly.

cece · 08/10/2006 21:32

How do people find the time to hoover things like stairs so often

Beauregard · 08/10/2006 21:35

It's always been a routine,i hoover the whole house each day, but im too anal about housework i need to get a life.

cece · 08/10/2006 21:41

whole house everyday

OMG I am a SLUT

TheBlonde · 08/10/2006 21:43

Stairs once a week (by cleaner)
Duvet change once a week (by DH)

Beauregard · 08/10/2006 22:10

It only takes about 10 minutes ,it's not a rambling mansion .

pookey · 08/10/2006 22:46

erm I dont know how often I change my duvet! When the mood takes me or ds wees on it

cece · 08/10/2006 23:06

Only 10 mins!?

Mine isn't massive either but it takes at least an hour to hoover through... Maybe because I leave it so long and it is therefore on the dirty side of clean before I start! BUT it is very satisfying to see the transformation!

Cappuccino · 09/10/2006 11:06

i have four flights of stairs so it certainly wouldn't take me 10 minutes!

vaccum stairs once a week - have a Henry so just use the normal attachment..

Own three Duvet covers for each bed (one on, one in the wash, one spare just in case). Get changed weekly.

IdrisTheDragooOOOOOOoooon · 09/10/2006 11:09

Stairs not often enough .

Duvet covers - have two and they are changed about every two weeks.

moljam · 09/10/2006 11:13

stairs, not very often!!!!!!!!!duvets covers about 3 for each bed, just got rid of lots.change bedding weekly sometimes 2 weekly.id love to be good at housework but im lazy.

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 09/10/2006 11:57

Have hoovered staircarpets twice in the 4months we've been here! But the carpets would look rank even if I did it everyday so am I bovvered?
(NB Not planning to properly clean/replace carpets until DS is pottytrained so there.)

Two bedlinen sets for us, one easycare one for DD, and DS has 2 cotsheets and 2 grobags.

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 09/10/2006 11:58

I'm assuming plevicfloornomore tidies before hoovering so has big floorspace to hoover quickly. Now if I could just do the tidying bit, I might get round to the hoovering one day...

Neena28 · 09/10/2006 12:03

Stairs once/twice a week with a hand held vac from lakeland.

Have got three sets of linen for each bed ie one on, one dirty, one clean. All sets are the same though, so say ds's pillow needed changing all the other stuff could be left until monday when i change all of them as they would all match.

hermykne · 09/10/2006 12:31

hoover stairs twice a week, maybe more. i have a 4 and 2 year old.

duvet changing - every 10 days, unless an accident occurs.

sets - 2 for out bed
dd's - 2
ds has 2 sheets and duvet coerlet thingy
