Kärcher Window Vac - anybody have/use one?

This one here

Is it any good?

When I first saw the ad I thought it looked like the gadget did everything i.e. cleaning and vaccing, but no: you clean first, then vac the dirty water off the window pane.

Does it make a big difference to cleaning windows? I use a micro fibre cloth, followed by a squeegee and wipe the water that runs down as I go along, but would this change my life??

I am really considering it for DH who Likes A Gadget

I thought I'd have to convince Dh but he's really keen especially as it's karcher and we have a jet washer by them. I've reserved it and will pick it up when Argos opens

Greencheese · 19/10/2014 09:55

I've ordered mine from John Lewis as they have sold out! I bet they've been snapped up my mumnetters! Ha. So I'll have to leave all the cleaning till Tuesday now Grin

IT'S FANTASTIC! Just done all the downstairs windows including 2 sets of patio doors and it works a treat and is effortless.

I can see how it could leave streaks if your windows are filthy and you don't clean them thoroughly first.

I used a micro fibre cloth, warm water and a spot of washing up liquid and a big squirt of rinse aid. Worked a treat.

Slosh it on , wash, do it again if they're really dirty then use the vac. Brilliant!

Do you have to send your receipt to get the tenner back? What's my proof of purchase if I do that?Confused

Behoove · 19/10/2014 13:39

Should explain what to do on the website. When I claimed cash back for dh camera it was the serial code off the camera box that had to be sent.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/10/2014 13:54

Yeah it says bar code and till receipt Confused

Oh well,I paid on my card so I'll have my statement I suppose, wonder why they make it such a faff ?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/10/2014 17:58

Every window and mirror is sparkling! Even my neighbour had a go with itGrin

CrackedNipplesSuchFun · 20/10/2014 00:59

Bought mine today! Cant wait to use it Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/10/2014 10:15

Update later when you've used it!Grin

It's brilliant in the bathroom when it gets all steamy, the bathroom is dry in seconds especially the shower screen!

I've just done the big wardrobe mirrors, a job I hate doing usually but did it so quickly and no smears.

I have to admit I was worried as I usually hate stuff recommended on mn, I sent the steam mop back and wasn't impressed by babyliss big hair but honestly this vac is fantastic.

Going to take the conservatory later...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/10/2014 10:15

tackle not take

CrackedNipplesSuchFun · 20/10/2014 12:09

Well I am in awe at how something can make such a difference.

Slight condensation on DSs room but this beaut sorted that out in seconds. I did the shower screen as soon as DH was out of it. Then done the downstairs windows. My DS (3.5) has asked me to "stop hoovering the windows".

I think it is fab and so easy to use. Really happy I bought it. Like you Dame ive not got on with all recommendations but so glad I had a punt on this one. Your conservatory should be sparkling later Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/10/2014 12:10

Yay!Grin DS said he wants to clean his bedroom windows after school!

dexter73 · 20/10/2014 18:06

If you go on the John Lewis website and look at your order there is a tab which says 'VAT receipt'. If you press on that you can print out the vat receipt to send in for the cashback.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/10/2014 18:22

I photo copied my receipt, sent in the original and have kept the copy just in case I need to return it to Argos. Mind you, now I've had to hack into the box to cut out the bar code I doubt they'd take it backHmm WHY make it such a faff, it's ridiculous?

PacificWerewolf · 25/10/2014 22:42

Thought I'd update - mine arrived today, just the standard kit for £48 from Amazon - it's fab!
I DH did all our downstairs windows, he's at work tomorrow so I will have the great satisfaction of doing the upstairs ones - they are filthy Grin

Does anybody know whether I can to the £10 cash-back thing too? There was nothing in the box to suggest I could… ConfusedSad

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/10/2014 00:29

You go on the karcher website and fill in the details, be quick though you have to get it in by Nov 7th iirc.

PacificWerewolf · 26/10/2014 07:54

Oh thanks, I'll do that right now Smile

PurpleWithRed · 26/10/2014 08:04

I've used mine lots and it's fabulous. DH took it up to use it on the bedroom windows and somehow managed to leave them smeared and streaky. Transpires he a) washed the windows with the water left in the bucket after cleaning the bathroom i.e. 90% Flash and yuk b) just kind of waved the Karcher at them to dry them rather than squeedging it. And he is normally an absolutely fabulous cleaner. I'm amazed.

Did my greenhouse. The light levels are now amazing. I may have to set up a window cleaning business to satisfy my new lust.
