My house is a tip! And grimey in places!

Anyone fancy a cleaning/tidying thread to motivate each other?

jimblejambles · 07/09/2014 07:32

Sounds good to me. I seem to spend my whole life tidying/cleaning and getting no where Blush

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 07/09/2014 07:36

Yay jimble

I am the same

Didn't think anyone would be game at this time in the morning!

So I have a load of washing in the dryer, a load waiting to be folded, and almost a full load in the washer (waiting on dcs pjs)

I have wiped my kitchen units down apart from the one I can't see through the clutter and put the pots in some water

I'm in! House is a bomb site and have family coming for lunch today. I need to somehow do three loads of washing, put away two baskets of clean clothes, clean bathroom x 2, vacuum throughout, clean kitchen surfaces and mop floor and cook Sunday lunch.
Oh and feed a 3 month old, entertain a 2yr old and meet a friend for coffee at ten Shock
Any tips on quick fixes much appreciated Grin

3pigs you're shaming me into getting up and tidying! Grin

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 07/09/2014 08:21

I have no choice in the actual getting up bit thanks to lovely dd my 6am alarm clock!

OP posts:
DontstepontheMomeRaths · 07/09/2014 08:21

Mine are awake, just fending for themselves at 5 and 7 Grin

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 07/09/2014 08:31

Ah dd (17 months) is not quite that independent yet!

Plan on spending today just tidying and cleaning. The house is currently a tip. I have very untidy DC too and plan on getting the older ones to give me their help (half an hour each) to go through their rooms. Thanks for this thread 3pigs. Will get up now and watch this thread over the course of the day!

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 07/09/2014 08:36

Yay! I am surprised at how many are joining in on a Sunday morning!

I have just sat down with a brew and dd for 5 mins because she was shouting at me!

Then I will strip older two dcs beds (others beds done yday) and stick the bedding in the wash

I'm in.

Washer on and the weather is decent so should be able to get it on the line.

There's a pile of clean, ironed clothes upstairs that need to be put away. I actually quite like ironing but hate putting it away. Dp is having his turn lie in so will shout up for him to do it at ten.

Need to wash up so will fill the sink now.

Clearing the understairs would solve most of our downstairs clutter battles. Might get it done today but not promising

Cleaned the bathroom whilst dp bathed ds last night but need to do the floor today.

I dream of living in a show house!

fuzzpig · 07/09/2014 08:46

Hello!

I'm on a few decluttering/hoarding threads (yes my house is that bad) as well but I need to do all the standard houseworky stuff too...

I'm in!

caker · 07/09/2014 08:47

Yes I'm in! I have a 17 month old too. DH is going away for a few days so my plan is to tidy up while he is away so when he comes back it will be really obvious it's him making the mess... Good luck everyone!

BobPatandIgglePiggle · 07/09/2014 08:50

We had rats in the kitchen (we're not that scruffy, they came in and were sorted within 3 days, lol) and the upside is that my kitchen is now immaculate.

We washed and bleached everything we own and now most stuff is in big plastic boxes in the cupboards. Newly clean and organised means its easier to keep nice.

mirpuppet · 07/09/2014 08:50

Cleaning today -- mostly kitchen. And bathroom.

Also laundry.

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 07/09/2014 08:50

Haha caker that is a good plan

jimblejambles · 07/09/2014 19:08

So I feel quite bad you have all done stuff!! My mum rang and I went out with her but I have cleaned the work top in the kitchen and done 2 loads of washing. Oh and made a cake meaning the previously cleaned work top needs cleaning again Blush
Anyway tomorrow when the boys are at school me and dd are going to clean the hallway and downstairs loo

BobPatandIgglePiggle · 07/09/2014 21:41

Oh my word! We did it - we cleared out the under stairs cupboard!

Writing it down made me think about it so I nagged dp - we entertained ds stuck him in front of the telly Blush and cracked on.

We've got rid of so much crap and there's room to put the hoover away!

Other stuff done :
Shopping done
Lunches made
Washing in off the line
Roast cooked and eaten - bones boiling for soup and veg cut for soup
Kitchen worktops done
Washing up done

Not done:
Clothes put away (forgot to yell to dp to do it)
Bathroom floor not done (it's disgustingly covered in dps chest hair)

To do:
Bags for tomorrow
Hoover lounge
Load washer
Wash up again
Finish soup

Day of rest eh??

fuzzpig · 08/09/2014 00:52

Wow that's very productive! I'm just happy I managed a load of laundry TBH :o

So much easier on my days off during the week... hoping for a productive few hours between school run and work at 2 tomorrow.

KillashandraRee · 08/09/2014 08:15

I have so much to do this week. Hoping tomorrow and Thursday will be productive as DS1 starts preschool so I should get a few hrs if DS2 behaves....

Washing x3 loads
Clean kitchen
Mop floor
Vacuum throughout
Organise DS room
Organise aiding cupboard
Organise wardrobe
Sell DS2 newborn clothes
Change sheets on bed x3

Oh there's so much more Hmm I may be on this thread for months.

MokunMokun · 08/09/2014 08:23

Can I join in too? We are going away this weekend and I'd live to leave the house clean.
