mine blew up last week and i was going to buy another one, but i have no idea what for

i dont use the thing, i only warmed up milk for dd's bedtime drinks in it but they are just as happy with cold

and maybe baked potatoes, but they are SO much better in the oven

so ive decided i dont need/want one

more bunker space anyway!

I just remembered that we do have one in my parent's garage. We got it because our oven was out of action for a few weeks when we had our new kitchen put in, and then gave it to my mum. However, she doesn't use it so it is in their garage.

Tip: it doesn't take very long to make porridge in a saucepan.

porrdige in the saucepan is so much nicer, for some reason

only used ours for reheating convenience foods, which we eat less of now the novelty wore off. It went out years ago. DD1 would still like one ,but only to inflate marshmallows!

TooTicky · 29/09/2006 18:04

Me. I hate them. They don't do your food any good and they contaminate the air around them.

LiliClouseau · 29/09/2006 18:16

Me, I hate them too
my FIL used to cook dinner in the morning, then re-heat in the microwave in the evening (when he was retired and had all day to do whatever he wanted)
gag

yes, this is the man who used to soak spaghetti before cooking it

Mytholmroyd · 29/09/2006 19:06

I've never had one - but imagine they are useful for defrosting stuff?

Mojomummy · 29/09/2006 20:00

Me - filthy things that nuke foods which then destroy your insides...( IMHO)

morningpaper · 29/09/2006 20:07

I don't have one - it's just more clutter

The only thing I CAN'T do very well without one is heat up cold mashed potato

trixymalixy · 02/10/2006 17:02

Couldn't live without ours!!!

We have a combi one, so use it as an oven when cooking for just the two of us rather than heating up the big oven.

Plus I usually have a mega cooking day and freeze loads of portions of food e.g. spag bol, stew, curry and just have to defrost as I am too knackered midweek to cook.

Better than resorting to ready meals imo.

Is also good for cooing fish, scrambled eggs and hot chocolate.
