I think cuddly toys are ruining my life!!

seriously the bloody things take over . They are so annoying. hard to store, totally useless yet the kids get so attached to them.

I have 2 girls sharing a room and it's not a big space. They have very little floor space and a lot of it is taken up by washing baskets of soft toys. This means they don't have enough space to play. I regularly De clutter them and get rid of any that are a bit crap or that I know the kids won't notice if they dissappear.
but it's really not solving the problem.

unless I get rid of nearly all of them, I can't see it ever ending

I basically am nesting and have an overwhelming urge to get rid of the lot before they come home from school. but I know that's really wrong and will result in extremely unhappy children

I feel your pain. Dd loves them so much though. I'm getting some of the vacuum bags from amazon that you store duvets in then suck all the air out to compress them.

yes the vacuum bags maybe a good idea. although I wonder what's the point in still owning them if they can't access them?

Could you get one of those 'hammock' things for the wall or between shelves? At least that would keep them off the floor but they'd still be accessible.

Christ, we have hampers full of the feckers. Never played with now they're older, but can we get shot of them? Can we buggery. I actually think our "window" for getting rid has passed now that they're older. They don't want them in their own rooms, but woe betide us if we tried to reclaim some of the space in our loft.

I actually tried it a couple of days ago - found a cuddly shark whilst up in the loft and decided that he, at least, might go to the charity shop. The mistake I made was giving him a quick sponge down and leaving him in a sunny patch to dry his fur before putting him in the bag. 15 year old greeted him with a cry of joy and petted him all evening. Last time I saw him he was in her bed.

It makes it easier to find the exact toy that will only do at bed time rather than wading through 1000s. :)

I find midnight culls are the most effective....even then they still get discovered

I bloody hate the feckers. We have literally 100s who live on DD1's bed. It takes about half an hour to strip and remake her bed - drives me crazy. I've managed a small cull, in the depths of night and with them going straight out the door, but even then I was wailed at. How she knew any were missing was beyond me.

I hate them too. We have hundreds (4 kids and we still have some from DS1 who is 17) in pop up baskets, toy sacks, storage boxes all over the house. I made them choose about 20 to pass on a few months ago but I will have to do it again - or when they are not here. Whenever there is a school trip why do they always have to spend their money on cuddly toys.

Just stuff a beanbag (the large kind you sit on) with them. Then they are stored away and you get a comfy seat too.

We have the whole of the corner hammock thingy filled with unicorns.

Then there are The Favourites, that's the inner circle of elite cuddlies who jostle for power. Número uno favourite at the mo is a crow called Sven.

Then they are subdivided by type / interest. Build a bear, Moshi, My Little Pony (or M. L. P. )...

Finally they make there way into the bottom of the cupboard, then the higher cupboard, then the loft.

I hate them.
I use DS's severe eczema as an excuse not to allow them.

They harbour dust mites.

Even if no one in my house had allergies of any kind I wouldn't have them.

People buy them for other people's kids. They like them because they look cute (specially the Ikea ones) but they don't want to have them in their own houses.
