It's the clutter shouting "Mayday" as the Fledglings spring into action

Copying last month's thread.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps.

Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others, we won't be judging you.

Skip the class this week Whoknows take it easy today.

I am currently curled up on my bed and contemplating a dvd or a book. seems like my room is not annoying me as much as it did yesterday. Or i am just too tired to care.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 20/05/2014 12:29

Old furniture ready to be picked up later this week. New furniture will arrive the same day. Brilliant! I've put out a bookcase (believe me, ME getting rid of a bookcase is rare!!) on the kerb, so hoping someone will take it. I just don't have room for it. If not, I'll have to lug it back inside, or leave it outside and break it up tomorrow and take it to the tip. Fingers crossed it doesn't get rained on. Grin

I've completely rearranged my room, and done a huge stack of filing. Ruthlessly tossed quite a bit of stuff. I was actually feeling quite pleased with myself.. then I looked at the other half of the room. Hmm Still quite a bit to go. So I muddle on...

CarpeJugulum · 20/05/2014 12:55

I'm not usually too bad with my back; I just have to be careful how I sit at work.

Well, I'm a bit Confused at the moment. There's a job come up at the local high school for a secretary. It would be a pay cut but still doable (£2k per annum); but I'd lose travel costs (also £2k per annum) but I'd be able to take DS to nursery and pick him up without paying extra. The bugger is it's a 12 month maternity cover contract... Decisions, decisions. I think I'm inclining towards applying but I'll have to change my job title on my CV from manager to supervisor Blush and then seeing what happens.

ToffeeWhirl · 20/05/2014 13:00

Hope you didn't go to pilates, WhoKnows. I agree with Bitchy.

Have just had an unexpected phone call from CAMHS. All nicey, nicey, strokey, strokey Hmm.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/05/2014 13:05

er, I did Blush. It's not that strenuous and I was fine. I also went shopping. I feel absolutely fine now. I won't be doing anything seriously strenuous for the rest of the day though.

I bet they were Toffee, I bet they were.

Swanhildapirouetting · 20/05/2014 13:07

today
my immersion heater was being repaired so the whole airing cupboard was on the landing, however he still needs the element so he is returning tomorrow...
first thing..we did history revision with ds2 which was a trial by ordeal (which one gives up first Wink
Dh woke up at 6am so dd could do her homework because yesterday she felt too ill in the evening (dunno why)
I found two less than clean PE kits for the boys
packed ds1 off to school before he insulted ds2
drove ds2 to school and returned to wait for immersion man
had short rest, and chatted to dh
walked round garden in bare feet
meat defrosting

such a big backlog today of shopping errands including gardeny stuff and presents, need to do another Ocado order too before I get sidetracked grocery shopping for small stuff.. We have run out of oven chips too! I didn't realise what a wonderful thing they were to have: as far as the children are concerned it is like eating at Nando'sShock

whoknows hope you feel better soon. Very brave of you. Have never dared to have the Mirena coil.

todo
garden rubbish to dump (try again)
fold sheets
put dd's books back in her room (grrr)
hoover our bedroom (try again)
dirty washing downstairs
dispose of food compost in corridor
order new compost bin from council
order goddaughter 18th birthday present
order godson fhcommunion and 8th birthday present???not sure what??

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 20/05/2014 13:58

Toffee Oh my - do you think they've realised they were out of line? Prats. Hmm

BitchyVstheUFOs · 20/05/2014 14:31

It might have been nicely nicely but are they going to do anything???

It is very disorientating waking up being to see (accidental nap with contacts still in)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/05/2014 14:43

Swan - am envious of your oven chip loving DCs. DS won't touch them, DD will pick at a few. Grudgingly.

I first got the coil to deal with heavy periods as well as contraception, new baby brain put paid to me reliably remembering to take the pill. It has been brilliant for me. As I am officially old now I can keep this one for 10 years instead of 5.

I have been sorting out the DCs wardrobes and drawers - they put most of their own clean clothes away but every few weeks it all goes into meltdown of overflowing drawers, missing Brownie uniform etc so I have a sort out. Put out a few things to get rid of too. I need to tackle the dressing up clothes next, those boxes are overflowing too.

Tuesday is our busy evening, I need to go and do a quick bit of dinner prep before the school run, back later .

ToffeeWhirl · 20/05/2014 15:04

Swan - thank you for your lovely pm. Will reply this evening.

It's unprecedented for this CAMHS person to ring me up, so yes, I think they must have realised something wasn't right.

And I have now been assured that DS1 will be having further CBT treatment after all.

ta da

Home ed with DS2 (going really well)
Lunch
Work
Online lessons with DS1 (also going well Shock)

Just spent some time looking for some Lego instructions for DS2 and discovered countless treasures (and pieces of rubbish) under his bed and the sofa. Including a children's library book that the library have given up asking for Blush.

Now need to do a quick tidy (kitchen is a tip), then get ready to go out: we are meeting people we've never met before for afternoon tea. Too complicated to explain why. Always nerve wracking meeting new people.

Swanhildapirouetting · 20/05/2014 20:27

Hmm cooked supper (pork chops and mustard, mashed potatoes, cucumber)
washed up
did geography revision with ds1 on the globalisation of football
short not very successful revision episode on the cause of the first world war
prolonged argument of what would happen if he just scraped under a 6c would he still lose his dsi for a month. Yes. Hmm
ds2 in shower

had better go and do some more housework now, but do not want to..uniform check first, then recycling out

Ds1 has suddenly decided to start reading Game of Thrones - dh tells me it is not gory like the series, I hope he is right.. Both of us are thrilled he is reading something Blush

BlueEyeshadow · 20/05/2014 22:23

House is a tip and I've just taken on a huge project which will involve every ounce of energy not involved in school campaign, so it's likely to stay that way. Sigh. My excuse for not hoovering is that the boys have taken to covering the entire sitting room carpet with train tracks...

Have sorted 3 baskets of laundry though, so that's something. Oh, and put out a charity shop bag and chucked some random bits of paper.

Sorry to hear about CAHMS, Toffee, hope this afternoon was OK.

GoingGoingGoth · 20/05/2014 23:01

Links for Wednesday 21st May

Babystep 21 is to read the Ask Flylady page don't think I've done that

Wednesday is Antiprocrastination day

This week we are in Zone 4, the Master Bedroom

Today's mission is to dust the tops of doors, windows and hinges. Will skip my windows as they are 285cm tall! They get done when I wash my curtains.

SUMMARY

Well I think we've agreed we all hate the woman at CAMHS, ha sounds like she realised she messed up. Pleased you did have a nice picnic before then Toffee

Bitchy is still caffeine free, I am so impressed. Would be great if it helped you sleep. BTW wasn't today meant to be relaxing?

WhoKnows got back from the doctor with everything intact, and had quality time with her cat.

Carpe with you with Irn Bru (I limit myself to one can a week -I'm up to November 2053) Sciatic is a bastard, but I did get some amazing painkillers for it.

Alice is organised with her furniture and filing

Swan's immersion is almost fixed? Fx

Blue is getting stretched. Sod the housework, make sure you look after yourself.

And finally, spent a lot of today with DD's best friend's Mum. Was nice having just a 'not-very-girly day' IYKWIM, went to Dobbies garden centre, IKEA and Braehead and had lunch, no kids, no men-brilliant.
Then this evening I had a mid-life crisis, chopped off half my hair, bleached it then dyed it bright red. It glows! DD hates it Grin

OMG, Goth! I'm tempted to ask for a picture but a little bit scared.

CarpeJugulum · 21/05/2014 05:46

Wow Goth... We neeeeeeeed pictures! Grin

Well, working today, so not much flying to be done. Will update properly once I'm at work as DS has just woken. I could strangle the bloomin' blackbird outside his window. Angry

BitchyVstheUFOs · 21/05/2014 08:10

Goth sound fabulous.
Also I think sleeping all day and a doc appointment counts as relaxing. So rest day achieved!

I am watching Russian Today news. It annoys me less than sky news. But the red head woman who is spokes person for the US on the ukraine issue needs some common sense slapped into her. Wow just wow. Constantly shown to be uniformed and yet she still manages to tow the official line.

Must shower and get ready. Got a trip into the hills today. So that will be nice.

droitwichmummy · 21/05/2014 08:12

Morning!
Did nothing after work last night. I had a really early night thanks to 2 early starts but I have started well this morning-
everyone up, fed & out on time
wm on
dw on

After work I will
empty dw & wm
washing on airer (due to pour with rain overnight)
reload both
shine sink
15 mins decluttering bedroom (why does everything gravitate into there?)
bed by 10.30

Back later - expect a photo of the hair goth!

dizzyday07 · 21/05/2014 12:20

Monday was spent driving round Reading trying to find some basic shorts and t-shirts for DD with limited success - and there was absolutely no joy finding school shorts. I tried her in boys ones and they are cut too straight for her curvy middle!

Yesterday I got a few jobs done

  • D/W loaded, put on and emptied
  • Laundry load in and hung out to dry
  • 2 loads towels washed and hung out to dry (and swiftly brought back in when it started drizzling!)
  • Started a long overdue sewing project
  • DD to and from Brownies
  • Cut out most of the felt letters needed for a bunting order for school
droitwichmummy · 21/05/2014 13:03

Tis quiet in here. Are you all out enjoying the sunshine? I'm on a train (quelle surprise!) to Wolverhampton for the afternoon Confused
I have sorted out how to print a Facebook message at work for my BIL this morning (had to save it at home using Paint to get it through the firewall then email it to myself) so that is progress. Next job is lunch!

GoingGoingGoth · 21/05/2014 13:06

Walk (only 8k steps, have Woodcraft tonight)
2 loads laundry hung out
Washing up

To do

BitchyVstheUFOs · 21/05/2014 14:42

Grin that is fabulous goth!!

droitwichmummy · 21/05/2014 15:47

Wow goth! Love the new look :)

CarpeJugulum · 21/05/2014 18:04

Wow, love the hair colour Goth! Deeply envious, but I'm hoping to start interviews for new jobs soon so I can't really join in... and let's face it, I don't have the bottle either!

Well, home, tea made and reducing and DA DA DAH!!! cot bed sold! So we have a bit of space in the garage now. I just need to persuade DH to sell the wooden futon frame that we're never going to use again and we might be able to move!

Off to do the bed time routine for DS now and hopefully a shred after it!
