It's the clutter shouting "Mayday" as the Fledglings spring into action

GoingGoingGoth · 30/04/2014 22:12

Copying last month's thread.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps.

Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others, we won't be judging you.

I hope your day went ok Carpe

I was glad to finish today. Have thumping headache which i suspect is caffine related. Looking forward to bedtime. I could spend the rest of the afternoon in the garden. Or I could curl up on my bed and crochet. I am liking the slight gloom atm. Hopefully by the end of the week the caffine headache will fuck off and I will be free of the caffine demon. Then all i have to do is kick the butt of the sugar demon and the insomnia demon and I might stand a chance of a normal life. Perhaps. Maybe. HmmGrin

Glad to see that the predicted rain was not a feature. Not so sure I like the sudden jump in temp up to 25C. Anyone got a spare paddling pool?

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 19/05/2014 17:17

Bitchy I'm naughty and using the ceiling fan today, but only the ceiling fan, not the light. The ceiling fan is set up so I can only use the light when the switch is "on", but I can use the fan even if the switch is off. So I figured as long as the switch is "off" and I'm not using the light, it's most likely okay until next week when the electrician can get out here. Busy guy.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 19/05/2014 17:17

And I will never be free of the caffeine demon. I salute you. Grin I am too weak to make the attempt. Blush

droitwichmummy · 19/05/2014 17:32

No list from me this morning - was revising some training I was delivering today on the way in.
Had a 4.30 start as dropped dh to work (meant I had the car to get to the station).
Did some flying before leaving for work:
emptied wm
washing on the line
ironed yesterday's washing

Won't get much done tonight as have to pop into knitting group (at pub Grin) to pick some things up & I am repeating the early start tomorrow.
I will do:
s&s
dw
wm
prep bags for morning
encourage ds to finish his homework.

See you tomorrow

BitchyVstheUFOs · 19/05/2014 18:41

Tbh I don't blame you alice just keep an eye on it ok?

Mummy How you get everything done that you do has always baffled me. Especially as you have always had the illusion of being completely unflappable. Good luck tomo!

I had a short accidental nap Blush and have followed this up by helping ds to kill stuff (snowmen and green chomping things) on his computer game. Looking forwards to reading more of our book. I want to know how it ends.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 19/05/2014 19:40

Bitchy yep, definitely. And I will make sure it's off before I go to bed, so it won't be running while we're sleeping or out of the house.

ToffeeWhirl · 19/05/2014 20:24

Hideous meeting at CAMHS.

It seems that DS1's inability to overcome his anxiety and his lack of appetite and sleep is my fault .

The psychiatrist actually asked DS if he 'made a day of it' when he went up to London for his diagnosis. It was a bloody miracle he even got there. And she was even holding the diagnosis letter for ASD in her hand as she said it.

Am definitely drinking Wine tonight.

Swanhildapirouetting · 19/05/2014 20:48

toffee I will pm you. unbelievable. Sad

MercuryRising · 19/05/2014 20:51

What a ridiculous woman Toffee hope you are ok.

Dm started looking after the kids today and it is fabGrin She cleaned the fridge and the fruit bowl, got the washing in and made the dc dinner.

Motivated by this I:
Changed the bin
Meal planned for the week
Ran the dw
Did the food shop
Reloaded the wm
Took dd to her dance lesson
Dp even cut the grass and got the fans down from the loft.

The best bit is the dc are so relaxed as they were able to come straight home from school and play with their friends. The mercury household is beaming tonight.

CallingAllEngels · 19/05/2014 20:54

We have a sticky bean! Just had an 8w scan and saw heartbeat clearly. Still early days but feeling good. Smile

MercuryRising · 19/05/2014 20:58

Hooray for sticky bean!! I am so pleased for you Engels Grin

droitwichmummy · 19/05/2014 21:08

Congratulations Engels!

Have managed pub. DH & DS are in bed. Homework is sort of done. Washing has been retrieved from the line. Just need to whizz round the kitchen and I'm done for today. Will treat myself by investigating the sewing pattern & fabric I snuck in on Saturday. I might even cut it out but will see if I am awake enough to do it without messing it up.

Bitchy you know that duck who is calmly drifting along while its feet are madly paddling? That's me!

CarpeJugulum · 19/05/2014 21:18

Yay Engels I'm so happy for you! Have a virtual Wine to celebrate!

Well, I'm in a hopeful mood, and the Fat Fairy would be proud of me. I've (hopefully!) managed to sell DS' old cot on Gumtree, I've managed to grab a sellers spot at the local NCT sale so more stuff will (hopefully!) be heading out the door to the benefit of our bank account!

So today, I've managed to do my first day of the Shred, so no bollocking required! I will fit into my linen trousers (hopefully!).

Okay, that's a lot of hopefully, but hope is all I got so far

Swanhildapirouetting · 19/05/2014 22:01

today nothing much has been done, except

Picked up ds2 by car
Dh out till 6pm, unusually, so a bit tricky to deal with tutor and tennis simultaneously but survived (stressed)
Tennis lessons x 2
Maths tutor x 1
forced ds1 to get ready for Maths tutor after school which was a miracle really as he was screaming at me to go away
kids meal at tennis x 2
ds1 and dh some leftover meatballs in fridge Smile
watered garden, put lettuce seedlings back under glass as the slugs were threatening them yesterday

no washing up as dh did it
dh did laundry of uniform

I watched Chelsea Flower Show, so relaxing but presenters were tres annoying, why was Carole wearing so much makeup, and why was Everyone in high heels and tight dresses, why not floaty at least? The men were wearing lovely clothes, fustian and hessian and strange rural flatcaps Wink I want a pond desperately.

We forced ds1 to do some revision on history after he confessed ignorance of Reparations or the Axis powers. He is 5c atm and should be getting 6C across the board, but isn't reaching that dizzy height Hmm in anything except Games.

Then had a lovely time reading Roman Mysteries to Ds2 in my bed. It is brilliant, he loves listening to it. It has been a long time since he willingly listened to us reading fiction other than Wimpy Kid so it is a real breakthrough. His main topic of conversation atm is wanting to go to Wimbledon to see a live match.

Swanhildapirouetting · 19/05/2014 22:02

Congratulations engels too

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/05/2014 22:30

Congratulations Engels, so pleased for you.

Grrr to CAMHS Toffee - just grit your teeth and remember it's not you. It really isn't. Do these people not realise that without a caring and determined parent such as yourself it is highly unlikely you would even have a CAMHS appointment in the first place?

Work today, plus lunchtime meeting about DS, then home, homework, dinner, swimming with DS and bedtime routines. And I've just been to Sainsburys. DS has had a real breakthrough with his swimming lessons in the last couple of weeks, his instructor says he's like a different boy. A bit the same too, he did his homework really well this weekend and is behaving better over his food issues too. Long may it last!

Flying wise, not much, just the basics today, I did a huge pile of ironing last night though, tomorrow is a day off work, so will plan to do more then, but, I have to go and have my Mirena coil replaced. I have been led to believe from MN that this may be OUCHY. So watch out for me feeling sorry for myself tomorrow.

GoingGoingGoth · 19/05/2014 22:47

Links for Tuesday 20th May

Babystep 20 is to include laundry into your daily routines. This is one I find easy to stick to, as it stops Mount Washmore forming.

Tuesday is Planning day

This week we are in Zone 4, the Master Bedroom

Today's mission is to go through the socks drawer and pair up or throw out!

BB in a bit with the summary.

GoingGoingGoth · 19/05/2014 23:16

SUMMARY

Engles has had a successful 8 week scan Grin Thanks Such good news.

Dizzy ran 3.3k in 33.56 minutes, very impressive, I won't even run for a bus!

Trazzle has been playing with her new bookshelf (admit it you enjoyed going through your books) and her DH reorganised her kitchen (you're brave, I. Wouldn't let my DH do that)

Mercury's DM is doing after school childcare, which will ensure the house is tidy every morning Grin, but she still managed to clean the fridge, and the kids are relaxed. Bonus!

Bitchy started the day chilled out...but is going through caffeine withdrawal

Carpe is starting the shred! and we are allowed to nag if she doesn't do it. Hope work picks up. And good news on the cot sale.

Alice has read the C25K, which is a start Grin and further than I'll get.

Mummy was revising and has a knitting group so not much flying today.

Toffee went through CAMHS hell. It is NOT your fault.

Swan said she hadn't done much but still produced a huge list. I'd forgotton Chelsea was on Sad

WhoKnows's DS has a had a breakthrough with swimming -YAY good luck with tomorrow.

And finally, not much here, continuing with the walking, did another 15k steps today (just under 8 miles) so my total in the last 7 days is 99k (52 miles)

ToffeeWhirl · 20/05/2014 00:02

Engels - that is wonderful, happy news! I'm so pleased for you Smile. No crisis cleaning now .

WhoKnows, Swan, Mercury, Goth - Thank you. Am still seething, but it's blurred by alcohol now...

DS1 says he's never going back to CAMHS. I might join him.

Before CAMHS decided to smash the day up, I did have a very relaxing time with DS2. After doing some home ed this morning, we had a picnic lunch in the park and just chatted. It was lovely.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 20/05/2014 07:57

Toffee I'd seriously consider making a complaint about her. She sounds like she behaved unprofessionally at best. Can you request a different person to meet with at CAMHS?

BitchyVstheUFOs · 20/05/2014 08:33

Unfortunately in my experience it is standard practise at CAMHS. Around here we reckon CAMHS stands for Can't actually make hell stop. They have no budget and thus get rid of people anyway they can. we are going back for the 6th time and the refferring doctor's comment was why is he not already under camhs. He looke horrified when i said we were discharged. Baring in mind we also now have the police involved. Just smile nod and ignore is the only advice. they are talking a load of bollocks anyway and are just a hoop to jump through seriously disgruntled

Congrats engels

mummy i hear ya but i like the illusion it is possible. gives me hope Blush

There was something else but can't remember. Day 3 of no coffee. Slept best part of 12 hrs last night and actually feeling like i might have rested a bit last night. Seems like killing the caffine demon might be helping to cull the insomnia demon.

Plan for today is to tackle my room. It is annoying me intensely.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/05/2014 08:59

Someone's just started a thread about ditching caffeine in General Health Bitchy.

Back from the Doctor's about half an hour ago, procedure was only mildly painful but am feeling very crampy now, so I'm going to retire back to bed with a cuppa, some ibuprofen and a book while I consider my plans for the day.

ToffeeWhirl · 20/05/2014 09:40

Alice - am considering it.

Bitchy - that's a good acronym for CAMHS. I would go further and say that CAMHS actually make hell worse. Quite an achievement for a service that is meant to help us. Couldn't manage to smile, nod and ignore because I was under attack Sad. But obviously the psychiatrist wasn't going to admit that her lack of diagnosis for DS1 was the cause of him and us not receiving the right support or schooling.

WhoKnows - well done for getting through that. I found the procedure almost unbearably uncomfortable, but the cramping afterwards only lasted about a day. Take it easy today.

DH is out all day, but has left me several boxes of books to log. But, first, home ed.

ta da

Got up (major achievement this morning)
Unloaded and reloaded d/w
Put washing on
Fed ds2 (ds1 still asleep - on the floor, where he seems to have shifted in the night)
Checked emails whilst eating b/fast

CarpeJugulum · 20/05/2014 09:46

Watch your back WhoKnows, my sciatic nerve went after mine in March. That was a fun day as my DF & SM appeared in the later afternoon, so I had to play "everything is fine", when really I wanted to curl up in a ball and sob!

Bitchy kudos on the caffeine-free kick! I gave up after Christmas (IBS initiated) but have not totally given up, as I still drink Irn-Bru (they'll prise the can out of my cold dead hand first!) and decaf, which isn't totally caffeine-free. Sleep was ghastly at first, but now it's fine. I still allow myself a cup of "proper" filter coffee every now and then at the weekend as a treat, but do find I get jittery with more than 3/4 of a cup.

Toffee I'd complain. Thankfully DS is too little for CAHMS or anything, but I read threads on here and, to be honest, it does seem that those who shout the loudest and moan the hardest get the results. I have my fingers crossed for you.

So, this morning, I have got up, fed DS, emptied the DW, shredded(!), showered, stuck a washing on and am now MNetting working from home. It has now started pissing down with rain, so the proposed walk/scoot to DS' kindergym is off - as is hanging out the washing. Angry

Right, better go do what I'm paid for!

Brew (decaf!) on the bar for those in need!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/05/2014 09:58

I'm feeling a bit better now, painkillers have probably kicked in. Quite enjoying lying in bed with my cat! Although I am looking rather sadly at all the piles of clutter on bedside tables etc. Need to decide whether to attempt Pilates class at 11.

Carpe - ouch! I get sciatica occasionally, plus other assorted lower back problems. I also have prolapses and it is only in the last year or so that I have realised (from a prolapse forum) that there can be a link between the two. I suspect mine are separate as the sciatica started long, long before I had the DCs and the prolapses are almost certainly down to a forceps delivery with DS.
