April's Fledgling Fliers: there's no fooling the Fat Fairy this month.

elliepac · 31/03/2014 16:27

In a blatant steal from last month's thread:

So here we are, April already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others

de-spidered?? Okay, must read back. Grin

Got a fair bit done today, and just finished cleaning up kitchen after roast chicken dinner. So relaxing a bit before bedtime routines begin.

More decluttering tomorrow if I can get 30 minutes to do it. Even a little bit of work on it helps in the long run, right?

MercuryRising · 06/04/2014 18:29

I have had a productive day and am relieved to say the mercury residence is now clean and tidy ready to tackle some decluttering next week Wink

I have completed my list except the ma work and job applications which I plan to do this evening. Dd and I had a lovely walk with my dm and db and made far to many Easter cakes some of which I had to offload onto sil. It sounds like you have had a successful day Bitchy I dread tackling the shed. I you have a lovely evening SC

beccajoh · 06/04/2014 19:40

BlueEyeshadow the small age gap isn't as awful as I thought in no way was DS the result of two bottles of wine and a lax attitude towards contraception

Had a mega day sorting out all our crap (packed the DCs off to PIL for the day). We've got seven Blush bin bags full of utter shite we've accumulated in the past couple of years! some of which could go to charity but in reality all it'll never get taken and will sit in the hall for weeks. We swapped the spare room and DD's room over. DH pared down his collection of computer cables by about 50%, which is a major win. We shredded 7 years worth of bank statements.

I feel quite a sense of achievement!

BitchyVstheUFOs · 06/04/2014 20:00

Hmm i think i need a list for tomo...

to do
Duvet #1 in wash
Duvet #2 in wash
Duvet #3 in wash
Work
Training
Take apart and remake bed in summer mode.
Find the black wool and work out how to block out central block for the blanket i have been working on this wkend.
Sort out wool needed for current/scheduled projects so more can be culled
laundry
Work more on a craft project.
some decluttering in my room.

Yep that is more then enough to be done in one day. Tuesday is a write off kinda day. Wednesday is a day when stuff can be done. And thursday another write off kinda day. Friday is going to be huge scary long to do list kinda day. Be warned it will be uber long kinda length and it will be the kinda list that will scare regulars and newbies alike (or at least that is the plan) So one week planned. I shall see you the other side of a good night's sleep.

EustaciaVye · 06/04/2014 20:11

Tomorrow I have to do the following:
doc appointment for DD
sort travel insurance
general tidy
pay cc and next bills
get kids to tidy bedrooms

as long as they get done anything else is a bonus. I want to spend some time with dds

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 06/04/2014 22:58

Bitchy looking forward to your Friday list. I won't have any huge long lists while schools are on break. Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/04/2014 23:00

Ta-da!

Hockey tournament - wasn't too damp and drizzly, DS scored a goal and we went home happy.

Had lunch and then embarked on an afternoon of cooking - I had a bit of a backlog of veg from the veggie boxes to deal with. I'm finding I haven't got time to peel and chop too much of it on weekday nights, so as much as possible is now being partially processed and frozen. Plus I needed to restock on cheese and tomato pasta sauces which I make in bulk and freeze. So, I made those, a big pot of leek and potato soup and chopped and blanched cauliflower and carrots. Freezer is now full to bursting.

Then took DD to her swimming lesson - she is being moved up a group after Easter, with her friend, which is nice. Dizzy - hope the second gala went well today, my DCs are such a long way off any of that! They are enthusiastic but not terribly proficient swimmers.

Swan - sorry to hear the younger DCs had such a meltdown, not easy at all. I hope the Ireland trip goes well.

Bitchy - why don't you PM the Woolly Huggers and ask for suggestions for your spare stuff? They have a lot of different things going on, I lose track a bit. They've got an Easter fundraiser this week which will no doubt mean that I spend far too much time on FB like i did at Christmas.

Swanhildapirouetting · 06/04/2014 23:48

Phew, just finished a mammoth piece of homework, printing out all the stations of the cross pictures which ds selected this afternoon, and trying to reduce some in size. They were meant to draw a series of pictures but I gave up at that point.
Ds2 and I did three pieces of homework this afternoon after James Bond; he returned in a very good mood, with a large poster of JB.

Whoknows we had some delicious defrosted homemade butternut squash and red pepper soup from our freezer this evening Smile The veggie boxes can be quite tiring though, it seems immoral to waste anything (not to say £££)

boys played nicely this evening and dd seems to be calming down, although she has some papier and mache project with a friend here tomorrow which strikes fear into my soul.

Two more days of school next week for boys. I could do without it, but possibly a good chance for dd to defuse.

done
scrubbed utility/tv room down, and swept floor, hoovered.
dw
uniform
homework
Mass
supper (scrambled egg on toast, and soup for grownups) then dcs ate frankfurters Shock

BitchyVstheUFOs · 07/04/2014 00:29

Good point Whoknows i will do so when the bits are done. Tbh I have a ball of ruffle wool that is going to do my head in, i find the stuff frustrating and almost unworkable. Probably because I am no knitter. I can do basic knit and purl type stuff but really struggle with the tension anyway. Will have to see what happens. So much other stuff to do and get shot of I suspect that the ruffle scarfs will get shoved to the sidelines and ignored until they are pretty much the last things left. Even manhandling the back piece of a cardi is more appealing then the scarf with 10 stitches per row. Blush

I should be asleep, stayed up to watch a program (in a series i have been watching) cba with the episode but got caught in the "I'll just finish this bit off" thing. I think there are 2-4 stripes left in the back piece, and the 9 in one side piece, 7 in the other side piece, sleves from scratch and a hood left and the thing should be finished. WOuld like to kill that off this month if i can. Would be one huge project gone, it has only been about since before I met ds' dad Blush Time it was gone really...

Wurstwitch · 07/04/2014 01:29

Well, hello, fledglings. Will you have me back? Tis madwomanintheattic in yet another de-reg,re-reg username. I have missed you, and more to the point, so has my houuuuuuuuuuse!! It's a catastrophe.

We moved in August. To a bigger house. Stuff everywhere. And I'm in the middle of a massive fundraising project in my spare time to bring a bunch of girl guides back to the UK for a jamboree in the summer. And working full time. And I am reluctantly going to have to let the damned fairy back in.

(I also - coincidentally) have to teach myself to make a frilly ruffle scarf thingy tonight (to teach the girls tomorrow night...)Although I'm going to crochet, not knit. And am now terrified, bitchy!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/04/2014 07:10

Hi Wurstwitch - welcome back! Sounds as though you've got your hands full. How are your DCs?

CallingAllEngels · 07/04/2014 07:34

Alles goed met mij sc ...but the house is a mess!

Really need to get my arse in gear and sort this house out, especially ds's toys, lounge table hotspot, myclothes and under stairs. I will be back soon when I have my first ta das!

LilllyLovesLife · 07/04/2014 08:01

Worst witch sounds like you have taken on too much!

My DD has been poorly so haven't been on here for a couple of days.

I seem to have missed the small age gap conversation and just seen it mentioned above (Did have a quick scroll through last 2 pages but couldn't see it). I have a small gap between my girls and about to have a small age gap between my boys! Think having 4 is going to be erm, interesting!

My to do list for today:

  • Reload dishwasher
  • 2 x Laundry loads
  • Put clean washing mountain away in bedroom
  • Clean kitchen
  • Tidy living room
  • Hoover downstairs
  • Arrange pick ups of the items I've sold.
  • Do Easter crafts with the girls when DS sleeps
  • Wash out washing machine drawer
  • Empty bin and Nappy bin
  • Take recycling out
Swanhildapirouetting · 07/04/2014 08:29

Hello, Wurst I remember you! Hope dcs are well.

Very early start this morning Angry not for me but dh, so he is shattered and has hurt his back in a rogue movement yesterday. Pre-arranged though, Ds2 insisted (and I mean insisted) on watching Formula 1 first thing so that he didn't hear who won from anyone else Confused It was on at 11pm last night so he watched it at 6.30 this morning. Then he had to stick in the Stations of the Cross ConfusedGrin I actually feel quite pleased, we know them now at least!!! Dh is not Catholic but I realise the depths of my art historical ignorance when he pointed out to me that there were several famous series by great painters of the Stations. I haven't visited a beautiful foreign church for so long or indeed been on a "cultural" visit for so long that I didn't make the link.

Both boys have walked off to school by themselves, in good spirits. I'm not sure if ds1 is doing any homework ever, but ds2 certainly is, topsy turvy really.

Dw reloaded and unloaded.

Cleaning lady coming this morning, cue rushing around and I also have to go and count Church money at 9.20am. And still dreading thought of leaving for Ireland.

todo
get dressed
clear up flotsam and jetsam of pritt and paper on the table
round up the washing into ironing and non-ironing
cull newspapers

Swanhildapirouetting · 07/04/2014 08:30

oh yes recycling too.
sheets
laundry

CallingAllEngels · 07/04/2014 09:23

Ta da
Fished all toys/books out from under sofas and cabinets
Bagged up a few toys that DS is too old for now to put up in loft
Boxed up DH's comics that he never looks at to make room for DS's books in lounge
Delicate wash on
Email for school

Onwards onwards

Your babystep for today is laying clothes out the night before. And bugger me this is one I actually do all the time. And those are few and far between Grin.

This week we are in the Bathroom and One Other Room. I am not lucky enough to have another room so less work for me Wink.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is here.

And here are your reminders including the Home Bleurgh.

Have a good day everyone!

Morning all, hello Wurst!

Half term here so no preschool. MrPP walked the dogs really Daryl before going off to work which was helpful. Well, not sure it can be counted as helpful as I asked him to do it. Had he offered then that would have definitely been helpful Iyswim?

Lashing down with rain. My washing is still out on the line from Saturday morning. My jacket is soaked. I'm wondering when I should go and bring it in. Keeping it company is a pair of jeans, a top and two dog towels.

Ta Da's
Everyone up and dressed to the shoes
Everyone fed
Swept floors with my new broom! Beats doing it with a stupid dustpan and brush. The amount of dirt it gathered was a bit BlushBlush
WM on
Dishes from last night on the drainer put away
DW emptied and restacked
Cleared down sides after breakfast
Tidied away stickers and colouring left out last night when MrPP was in charge of minis
Changed minis bedding

To do
Too much. Simply too much.
Where are the staff when you need them? WinkWink I forgot. I AM the staff.

beccajoh · 07/04/2014 10:07

to do
Get dressed
Empty and fill dishwasher
Fold and put away clothes

MercuryRising · 07/04/2014 10:12

Morning.
I had a day of flying planned but then my sil suggested we take the dc to soft play so that is now the plan for the day. Although I will try and get some flying done once we are back.

Ta da so far:
Dw unloaded and reloaded
Wm on
Bag and purse cleared out
Beds made

elliepac · 07/04/2014 10:39

peanutpatty i would strongly suggest the elliepac method of dealing with the washing scenario.

  1. Take a look at weather forecast
  2. Establish when it is going to stop raining (tomorrow i do believe)
  3. Establish if there is anything on the line that you will need before the dry day
  4. Assuming the answer is no leave it there until the sun comes out.

Trust me this is tried and tested and works every timeWinkGrin.
