April's Fledgling Fliers: there's no fooling the Fat Fairy this month.

In a blatant steal from last month's thread:

So here we are, April already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others

Bitchy I love your box story!
Dizzy yes 50 m is a large pool isn't it, we only have 25m locally
SC the bunnies are next Shock Enjoy your day "at the races" too
Alice I think that's what I've been doing wrong for years.. I panic and just think I have to get them (dcs) outdoors, and then return to hideous mess..Hmm

done
catechism class.
ds2 to football
ds1 errand to shops for groceries
both boys did Football stickers a new craze which costs a fortune but at least they talk to each other whilst they do it...Hmm
boys have gone to yet another football match with their Dad
dd has gone to her friend's house.

Dh cooked lunch and unloaded dw
Dw
wiped table
hung wash out
wash in
picked up some rubbish from the floor

and now I'm having a rest [sigh] I feel exhausted again and this is my only chance as everyone is out.

Whoknows I'm so glad you are enjoying your allotment. My garden gives me such pleasure. I love wandering around it in it first thing.

Hi ladies, just found you! Slowly trying to get my house sorted out as we've accumulated a phenomenal amount of stuff over the three years we've lived here. The DCs (girl 21m and boy 11 weeks) don't help matters of course!

done
Washing hung out and brought in
Family walk/kick a ball around
Maternity clothes sorted ready for selling (no more babies for me Sad) (also motivation to lose weight and fit back in my normal clothes!)
Normal clothes restored to chest of drawers/wardrobe

Currently watching ITNG with DD. There's genuine concern that Macca Pacca has lost his (her?) Uff Uff.

PeanutPatty · 05/04/2014 20:11

Welcome Beccajoh!

Ta Da's
Hounds walked
Food shop
Car gutted and cleaned (well technically the nice man at the supermarket cleaned the car whilst we shopped - does this still count?)

About to climb into a bath with a G&T......

GoingGoingGoth · 05/04/2014 21:11

Hi beccajoh

Happy Birthday for yesterday Ellie Cake

DH woke with a bad head (congestion) this morning, so crawled back under tha blanket and didn't wake until 11:30, which put our day back at bit. So we ended up having a relaxing day which I think has done us all good.

Done
DD's bedding changed
Laundry on
Litter tray
Rubbish & recycling out
Library
Short walk
Afternoon film marathon (Iron Man 2 & Captain America) with huge pile of ironing
Dinner

I've not done much but could crash out already.

feetheart · 05/04/2014 22:21

Hello everyone and welcome to new people

Only just managing to crawl out from school craft/disco/work/end of term madness and have to get ready to take DC to NI to see the grandparents.

ellie - sorry I missed your birthday but hope you had a fab time inspite of recovery

dizzy - were you in a 50m pool close to an airport?

SC - :o about goldfish/dinner comment and Shock at 900 coaches

Waves to everyone else as need to get off computer and get an early night due to 10k run tomorrow. Seemed like a good idea at the time as I felt I needed a bit of motivation Hmm

BlueEyeshadow · 05/04/2014 23:14

Evening all!

Done more gardening today as well as sorting out the shed. House still a tip, but hey.

Grin at goldfish, SC. Hope all your entertaining has gone well.

Hi Beccajoh :) - 21 months and 11 weeks! Aww, but that must be seriously hard work.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/04/2014 23:37

Evening all,

Day out with the DCs at the seaside today (DH was at work), it was a bit cold and wet but we went to the funfair, did crazy golf and the park. When we got home I was exhausted and went to bed and slept for two hours, very unlike me. So, not much Flying. The washing I put on the line this morning is still there, soaking.

Welcome Beccajoh

Good luck with the race Feet.

Arf at the goldfish dinner SC.

dizzyday07 · 06/04/2014 02:02

DD and I had a long afternoon/evening at the gala (didnt get home until 9.15!). She coped really well with the length of the pool almost equaling her PB in the 50m race and got a phenomenal time (county standard) in the 200m but was disqualified :( we need to wait until the full results are out to find the exact reason though we know it is something stroke related Hmm

we are up at 6.30amSunday today for another gala but only a normal 25m pool this time :)

Feet Today we were at the pool in Aldershot Garrison. Good luck with your race

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/04/2014 07:36

waves at Dizzy - we're just down the road from there.

I'm off to a hockey tournament with DS this morning and it's peeing down with rain and he doesn't want to go (unsurprisingly). Half hoping it gets cancelled.

pushmepullyou · 06/04/2014 07:53

Happy belated birthday Ellie Flowers

Go to tip
House bleurgh
House tidy
Take DC to cinema
Meal plan and online ship if I cba
Check finances

pushmepullyou · 06/04/2014 07:53

Shop not ship

EustaciaVye · 06/04/2014 08:42

Hi everyone.
hoping to get on top of the house now it is the holidays.

dizzy and whoknows - we may be near? PM me where you live?

Still in bed.

JustGettingOnWithIt · 06/04/2014 09:14

Hello to Beccahjo

Dizzy very sorry to hear dd disqualified and has to wait to find out why. The last bit seems very unreasonable.

Feet good luck today (you’re probably half way round the course by now)

Whoknows hockey in the rain? I’m with ds.

SC I have visions of a very worried looking goldfish trying to work out where in a round bowl would be a good corner to hide in.

PMPY, online ship sounded good.

Really grateful to people who put unwanted stuff onto freecycle etc, but wish they’d work out for themselves how they want to play it, and make it clear. I understand when it’s something personal and emotional that they want to go to a good home, but is it really so hard to just decide with ripped out 'lots of nails/chips, but some may be reuseable' renovation stuff you say you need cleared asap?

I’m really not frustrated and grumping because I can't plan, daren't start lots of jobs in case, etc.

CallingAllEngels · 06/04/2014 09:47

Slinking in on page 7 Blush

EustaciaVye · 06/04/2014 10:32

btw Dizzy. was it an internal swim meet? If your DD swims with who I think, then the DQ will seem tough but they try and emulate competition standards. better to get used to DQs early on and learn from them, know how to deal with them, than crumble later on as they've been a bit soft previously.

MercuryRising · 06/04/2014 10:50

Hello Beccahjo

Sorry I did not manage to get on here yesterday but I spent a reasonably productive day in the library and then had an early night. I'm exhausted in the evenings at the moment so I have decided that during the holidays I will catch up with as much sleep as possible.

I hope you had a lovely day watching the Grand National yesterday SC

Ta da this morning:
Beds made
Bedrooms tidied
Dw reloaded
Wm reloaded
Kitchen cleaned
Top of microwave decluttered
Downstairs dusted
Downstairs hoovered
Dd to swimming lessons

To do
Meal plan
Food shop
Clean bathroom
Wash dog bowls
Make rice crispie cakes with the dc
Hoover and dust upstairs
Walk the dog
Do some MA work
Decide which jobs I am interested in applying for.

I am so glad the holidays are here. Have a lovely day fledglings Smile

BitchyVstheUFOs · 06/04/2014 12:39

I know someone who was dq'ed for holding the glide to long after the turn, seemed a bit rough as it was by the closest of margins. But it happens. Learning from mistakes is sometimes a good teacher. Ds had one of those learning experiences and it have brought him back stronger, fiestier and miore determined and now laughs in the face of being squashed Hmm does my nerves no fucking good I can tell you!

An early night coupled with a lie in and 2hrs of corcheting means that i might be appraoching feeling slightly human. This afternoon we are tackling the shed it's full of spiders and creepy crawlies and no one has been in there for ages so the beasties rule would it be wrong to go in armed with a hose and broom? probably as there is a load of stuff in there that doesn't want to get wet

...

BitchyVstheUFOs · 06/04/2014 12:40

Please forgive typos and spelling mistakes as my computer is running a few background check kinda stuff and I can't actually see what i am typing as I am typing it due to the lag between typing and displaying Hmm

ToffeeWhirl · 06/04/2014 12:40

Morning everyone.

ta da

B/fast
Took Ds2 to swimming lesson
OU study during swimming lesson
Snacks at home
Helped DH pack up stuff for work
Spent some time with DS1
Swished and swiped in bathroom
Unloaded d/w
Washing up
Emptied kitchen bin
Put recycling out
Wiped down kitchen counters and cooker top
Cleared dining-room table ready for work later

Doing some paid work later, but am very tempted to go back to bed for half an hour or so before then. Feeling really sleepy. Am sure I can justify it by saying I'll work better if I do that. Boys are both busy on various computer screens (Minecraft and Roblox), so I don't think they'll notice if I sneak away for a bit.

Hope you all have a good day.

slackcabbage · 06/04/2014 13:03

Hellloooooo

Good luck with the 10k today Feetheart!!

Thank you Mercury Blue and Swan had a lovely day thanks - particularly relieved and happy all horses and riders came home safely - and that a complete outsider won! Drank far too much Wine though. (Gave it up for Lent but have so far had 'lapses' to celebrate St Patrick's Day, Grand National, late mother's birthday, late father's birthday...various other events ... so haven't been, er, terribly consistent Grin)

Hope you can get lots of much deserved luxurious sleep during the holidays Mercury!!

And that you managed to get some much deserved rest too yesterday Swan

Hello to Beccahjo and Lilly¨!

Hello to Engels hoe gaat het?

Frustration easingBrew and Cake to Just horrible not being able to plan

Pushme arf at 162 things! Grin

Whoknows hope damp hockey not too onerous! Your allotment sounds wonderful btw!

Dizzy oh that's so hard on your dd to be disqualified (on what I assume must be a technicality) after working so hard and achieving pb and such a great time! Really demoralising for her. Hope she can bounce back quickly! Good luck today!

Goth hope your dh recovers quickly!

Like the sound of bath + g&t Peanut now you're talking Wink

Alice/Peanut my dh wears his clothes until they are in tatters: pants, socks, trousers, shirts - it's completely mad - I once put a wool jumper of his in the bin (it had huge holes under each arm) and I found it later folded up in his drawer! Don't think it is a cost saving strategy - he just grows very fond of things and can't bear to throw them out. Wish I had gone down socks-in-one-colour route [stares menacingly at Ikea blue sack full of dh's socks that all need pairing] dh's are all mainly navy or mainly black with just a tiny symbol or stripe or faint emblem to distinguish them from one another - makes the job even more tedious than usual!

Bitchy dd also has a deep fondness for large cardboard boxes - in fact she is never happier when curled up in one - although she doesn't object to the odd suitcase either! Grin

Hope all OK with you and yours Toffee

Big feathery wing flaps to Ellie Eustacia Honu and anyone else I have missed

Must get on. Meant to be virtuous and start cooking at 7.30 am this morning - yeah right - ludicrously optimistic given the fact taht the three of us only just made it to church on time at 11am with very odd bed-head hair sticking up at strange angles and vaguely matching shoes. Downstairs still a tip from yesterday. Done nothing else except faff about, buy lemons and corn cobs, and "persuade" dd to draw Easter card for sending out to various family and friends. Going out from 3pm to 5.30pm and need supper for 7/ 8 (poss 10) people ready from 6.30pm ish Oh gawd ... .

Swanhildapirouetting · 06/04/2014 13:12

Done
Mass for 2 dcs
sandwich lunch out with two
bought some more socks and pants for the children
dh has taken ds2 to the James Bond exhibition; he wanted to take both sons but ds1 has decided to play his Lord of the Rings Lego computer game instead, makes things a bit easier for dh too.

Last night we had a horrendous scene with ds2 and dd falling out over ds2 inappropriate behaviour. Dh and I are not agreeing over the way to handle things, as usual. I think I need to go through the inappropriate behaviour workbook with him step by step. Dh just cannot bear it when dd starts screaming at us and ds2, as it sets off a chain reaction when ds2 starts screaming too. It is a nightmare in this house sometimes. Today is better. Mass was good. Ds2 seems to have forgotten everything, he is a bit like Krakatoa. Whereas dd is still brooding on the fact that her brother is "weird", slightly distracted at thoughts of packing her suitcase for hols.

I am not looking forward to Ireland as a result, where I will be left with all three children screaming at each other. Hopefully they will find some shrubberies to retire to and be detoxified by large quantities of magnolias..

Anyway, better do some tidying. All is peaceful atm, although the smell of cat spray from the utility is horrendous..(another thing to quarrel with dh about)

Swanhildapirouetting · 06/04/2014 13:21

SC dh came up with his classic tactic to stress me just as I was setting out for catechism yesterday - accusing me of throwing away his "jumper", the one with the holes. The one you haven't mentioned for 3 months??Shock but choose this moment to "need desperately" because it is only jumper that will keep you warm for football match???

SC I think you are real professional when it comes to entertaining, you always carry it off, and also, more to the point, seem to enjoy it. Which is a lovely gift to have.

Swanhildapirouetting · 06/04/2014 13:24

Bitchy I misread the crocheting as 2 hrs of "corseting" Shock. I think I need a corset to get through the day, certainly.
I like the idea of crocheting or indeed knitting (which I can do) returning one to a semblance of humanity. Even if it is just to make a blanket in which one can wrap oneself and sit in the corner with Blush

BitchyVstheUFOs · 06/04/2014 14:05

Sounds like the perfect reason to make one Swan I covet a corset tbh. I have seen some really lovely ones.
Shed has had toys evicted out of it. The rest is not my problem so that is fine. Right now I have having a comfort and nerve break before cleaning and trawling through the toys and relocating them into one of 3 piles: tip, sell and new home. A lot of stuff needs sorting tbh and this is just another piece in the bigger picture.

Alot of the crocheting and stuff is the culling of the wool stash. Anything that isn't for an assigned project is going to end up as a hug. I thought it was the best way to cull. Will be nice to see the back of some of the projects tbh. Not sure what i am going to do with the not so ruffly ruffle scarfs tbh though. Perhaps the winter charity fundraiser done by the Woolley hugs mob? Any ideas?

BitchyVstheUFOs · 06/04/2014 15:28

I am now happily de-spidered, de-bonfired, showered and back in pjs Grin time for some more crocheting I think. Want to kill this particular blanket tonight if I can. Not quite following the master plan of things to do but will get there in the end. One project at a time. All got to be done so the order isn't so terribly important.
