April's Fledgling Fliers: there's no fooling the Fat Fairy this month.

elliepac · 31/03/2014 16:27

In a blatant steal from last month's thread:

So here we are, April already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others

Morning All.

I just logged on via laptop. What is that green thing ? I dont get pictures on the app.

Have had another lazy morning so far, other than cleaning breakfast stuff and putting dw and wm on. Have to pop to work for an hour with kids in tow Hmm and then have a medical appointment for dd2 this afternoon.

Will try and get travel insurance sorted today, and avoid looking at the piles of lego in the living room.

Wurstwitch · 08/04/2014 14:09

To do:
Drink tea (in progress)
Work
Dd2 guides
Dd1 school event tonight
Dd1 dance
Phone book delivery checks
Dishwasher
Wipe kitchen surfaces
Deliver phone book routes
Send security stuff to UK
Email program volunteer for swaps for trip
Sort quilt
Honours and Awards letters

Apols for mind dump Grin

Crochet scarves went reasonably well. I ended up going solo on the teaching front, as other leader chopped the top of her thumb off just before the meeting... It was the quietest meeting we have ever had! 14 teenage and almost teenage girls sitting around a big table, concentrating and chatting quietly!!

Swan, am lolling about your travel question - in August I have to fly ten 12-14 year old girls from canada to the UK, and supervise them for two weeks around London. I eagerly await your news of how easy it is to travel with teens... Wink

Dd1 has her ballet exam next week, and comp season starts with their dress rehearsal on Sunday. Dh is away this week.

On the upside, I have tomorrow 'off' - which means I'm not going to work, but playing catch-up! Yay!

Right, more tea!

Hope the appt goes well with dd2 Eustacia.

Ok the wool shop was a really bad idea. But i have been goodish. well perhaps not. I have 4 balls of wool for 2 projects that were not on the UFO list Blush but that is good considering the choice. Annoyingly though they don't stock stylecroft. I need 1 ball in 1 specific colour so that I can finish off 1 project. Anyone know a supplier that will ship 1 random ball? madness and won't really happen

I have finished the sea creature and currently started to work on the wool that was on the allowed to get list. Will have to see what it will happen design wise. kinda making this one up as i go along. Looking forward to using the multi toned wool which I know crochets up lovely with a natural pattern to it. Should really consider which of the old projects that need culling though. One day I will stop with the crafters brain. but it won't be anytime soon Grin

feetheart · 08/04/2014 21:32

bitchy - if you give us the details I can look in the local wool/craft shop and ask but not until next week as, like Swan, I am off to Ireland on my own with DC - slightly less of them and slightly younger but am still expecting good behaviour :)
Thing is we leave so early - 7am flight - that they aren't really awake until well after we land inspite of doughnut-fest at the airport to keep us going.

Won't be much Flying to do as my rather OCD step-dad will tidy up after us constantly Hmm. Just hope 7 days isn't too long.

House here is reasonably tidy but inspite of warnings issued I am sort of expecting it to revert to a bachelor pad by the time we get back. Really hope not though.

Will try to keep up whilst -hiding from parents and DC we are away but if I don't manage it have a good week everyone :)

BitchyVstheUFOs · 08/04/2014 22:12

Thanks feet, I will dig out the exact information. I know it is stylecroft double knit though. I am quite happy at the moment and have got about half way through one of the new 100g balls of wool. I am looking forwards to start working one of the blended colour balls of wool that was not for a project that I went with plans to do. Should keep me out of trouble tomo night. Grin By which point I will be bored with crochet and will disappear back to the knitting and hopefully finish the back piece true crafter really shows itself Grin Ah i do love a new project just wish i wasn't so crap at finishing them off Blush

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 09/04/2014 00:05

Bitchy - I got my last lot of Stylecraft from Masons Needlecraft, they seemed cheaper than some of the others, not sure about postage though.

By coincidence, I lost my stash of Stylecraft wool a few weeks ago and found it tonight lurking in the cupboard under the stairs.

Anyway, not much Flying today. DD was at drama group, Ds at sports club and me at work. After pickup time DS went to a friend's house and Dd had her friend round to our house, which was nice. House isn't too bad but ILs arrive at lunchtime tomorrow, so it does need a bit of work. Luckily I'm going to work and DH has the day off so he's in charge.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 09/04/2014 00:37

ta da
usual morning routines
picked up prescriptions from surgery
dropped prescriptions at chemist
mowed back garden (finished just as it started raining!)
picked up some fresh fruit and veg at supermarket
gave DD and DGS a lift to and from their new house
tidied up kitchen
tidied up dining room
one load of laundry (washed, dried, folded, but not put away yet)

to do tomorrow
ring surgery for prescription for DC1 and pick it up and take to chemist
pick up other prescriptions at chemist (I swear I might as well set up a tent there!)
help DD with some more moving tasks (transport and so on)
do some more tidy up work in the back garden - hoping to bag up some junk to take to tip
make brownies or lemon cake (kids are undecided - actually they want both lol)

I didn't plan much by way of outings this week as I have lots to do at home and money is short this week. I have outings planned every day next week - I've really been looking forward to it. Visiting a farm, and wildlife centre, a museum, meeting with friends and so on. But that does mean I'll probably not get a whole lot done at home. Grin

MercuryRising · 09/04/2014 07:28

BitchyVstheUFOs · 09/04/2014 09:25

Need a holiday from myself. I totally fail at this rest thing, the still thing and let's not even mention the sleep thing. Planned busy day today and despite having been busy for the last 3 days I have still not done what was needed. Tons of other stuff but not the stuff on the to do list. Somehow I think tomo is going to be much needed! (Enforced rest day)

I managed to turn an 100g ball of wool into a baby blanket last night. It is not finished but it is looking really good. Which means i also started the blended wool last night. just the first 3 rounds of the centre. But according to my plan for the week I should have spent sat and sun knitting the ruffle scarfs (blue and green) We all know the green has been turned into a far more useful sea creature, but I haven't started the blue. It will be my project for next weekend I think. It is the perfect colours for working whilst watching ds' in his match (ie not white). In the meantime I will work the blended and might even consider the angel hugs (I think with the pattern I will get 1 per ball ish so there will be 2), Want to finish the blue hug which requires washing cos of a dye leakage issue, before it goes.

Today is the day I am back tackling my room, it is also a new month and because I am trawling through a ton of dust it is also wash the duvets time. So I already have a small ta da list:

Ta da
check plans for the day/week
put duvet into washer
internet admin stuff
Stand on scales, eat breakfast and have first coffee.
Take enough pills to rattle.

About to go grab a shower and then need to:
collect all the laundry down stairs
ensure the bathroom is empty as one of the people has decided it needs a full steam clean (who am I to argue with this)
find paperwork for this afternoon and print work sheet
declutter and de junk my room (lots of little ta das for this coming up)
find clothes suitable for work later.
make sure have stuff in car for teatime meeting
work
teatime meeting
sort out timings for tomo
sort out anything needed for tomo (changes of clothes/weather appropriate clothing etc)
and probably work on the blended blanket...

So pretty much tons of stuff to do then Hmm
this was supposed to be a week of rest. I really do need to check that definition. But I have assumed it is still rest as long as you are sitting whilst being busy?

Blueandwhitelover · 09/04/2014 09:36

tah dah- 2 loads of washing done and hung out
Postman left reeling from sight of me bounding down the stairs at 8 am in response to his knock and not fully waking up till I opened the door
to do
put away clean laundry
sort something for tea
paperwork
catch up on films :-)

elliepac · 09/04/2014 09:49

wurst, bitchy and whoknows discussed crocheting and knitting. I zoned out Grin.

feet is another one on an Easter getaway. SHe may pop in. Have a lovely time.

ellie actually did some fecking flying. DH has been awesome during this whole being ill business but he is crap at washing. And I mean really crap so I am spending my time trying to catch up. Lots of washing/drying/putting away yesterday and 3rd load about to go out now.

alice is having a quiet week this week but has lots of exciting things planned next week.

Hello hello and hello!

Sunshine central here. Bit of a cool breeze but I can cope with that as the sunshine is warm in places.

Ta Da's
Hounds walked
Minis to the library to cause chaos and take books out

Entertain minis this afternoon

Wing flaps to all! BBL!

Wurstwitch · 09/04/2014 15:49

Banking (1)
Massage
Call school about 'field trip'
Fitness class
Cook dinner for tonight (Bol?)
Banking (2)
Write agenda for tonight's meeting

Haven't decided which room gets a rescue. Might be dining room. I have been using it as an overspill office and it's time to get everything back in the right place...

I have to confess to my fellow volunteers that I can't make the meeting tonight as dh is away and I have no one to do the kids... Eek. I am hoping that if I send the agenda out, they can get it together - it should be fine, but all my control freak tendencies are twitching...

And it snowed here last night.

Blueandwhitelover · 09/04/2014 17:41

film watching accomplished - mainly because some of them were crap and I deleted them after ten minutes.

DH has agreed to mould spray and clean the dodgy kitchen corner-yay

Still not tackled paperwork

MercuryRising · 09/04/2014 21:02

Evening.

It is very quiet on here with so many fledglings away! We had a lovely picnic and afternoon at the parkSmile

I completed my list with the exception of the hoovering and job application. I am currently trying (but not really succeeding) to get some work done although I plan on camping at the library tomorrow evening so I am sure it will all come good Hmm

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 09/04/2014 21:58

Oh, not a whole lot done today, but still had a pretty good day.

ta da
-helped DD move from stuff into her new house
-took DC to GP, got RX which I then filled at chemist and picked up other RXs I had dropped off the other day (I'm pretty sure I keep them in business some days!)
-walked into town, went to bank, took DCs to lunch, enjoyed the day wandering around, went to library, met some of DCs school friends and their parents, picked up a few things at supermarket
-tidied up living room

Sorting out my list for tomorrow. Will be making plans to meet with another parent and child next week at one of the venues we'd already planned on going, so that will be fun.

BitchyVstheUFOs · 10/04/2014 05:45

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 10/04/2014 08:09

Still finishing up my list of things to get done today. Okay, it's a bit long. Hmm Not sure I'll get it all done, but will make a good go of it.

Just relaxing with a Brew at the moment, and then I'll get to work on things. The biggest thing I want to get done today is some major cleanup work on the garden. I won't be able to finish all of it, but I'm hoping I can make a good start.

LilllyLovesLife · 10/04/2014 09:43

Having trouble getting motivated this morning but going to get my arse in gear now.

To do:

  • Clear and clean/dust living room windowsill as it's getting cluttered
  • Reload dishwasher
  • Declutter craft/bits and bobs draws in extention, pull them out and clean behind them etc so it doesn't look such a bombsite from the garden through the glass
  • Take kids swimming after lunch
  • Swimming stuff straight in the wash
  • continue clearing my room when kids are in bed this evening
AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 10/04/2014 12:49

Quick update while I'm taking a break and DCs are eating lunch.

ta da
-cleaned up part of the mess on the stone patio area, binned it and put in rubbish
-went to B&Q and picked up paint for stairway wall

  • took old hose off hose winder thingy (yep, the official term for it, right? Grin) and threw it away. kept the winder thingy for a new hose to be purchased later
  • tidied up the kitchen
  • washing up
  • boiled some eggs to use over the next 24-48 hours

to do (just priority stuff, really, the list is actually huge so won't put the whole thing as I won't get to it all today)

  • drag a big metal piece of lawn furniture out front for metal/junk pickup tomorrow
  • rip out as much weeds as I can from patio area (with thick gloves - serious spines on those vines!)
  • most likely whinge and put ointment on 50 million jabs from the spines
