Me too! dying to hear how others manage it...

EvesMama · 16/08/2006 14:10

those narrow cupboards that pretend to be a nice posh unit but really house lots of shows when you pull the door down?..ikea, argos, places like that?

EvesMama · 16/08/2006 14:11

no they dont house shows, but they do house shoes..sorry

MrsBadger · 16/08/2006 14:21

we have one of these and one of these but appreciate they may take up too much floor space to be useful to you. V good though - v easy to sling shoes onto as you take them off so no actual 'putting away' needed.

shazronnie · 16/08/2006 22:11

I've tried the shoe rack/ cupboard in hall but really the only option is to put the shoes away upstairs.

I keep the kids shoes in the pushchair basket, but mine are upstairs, except for the pair I am wearing at the time!

twinsetandpearls · 16/08/2006 22:21

I have converted my airing cupboard partly into a shoe rack, also have racks as shown by mrs Badger under my stairs for shoes that don;t get used that often and the rest of the shoes go in the racksa in our wardrobes.

I allow a few pair to go in our porch if we are popping in and out of the house but they are not to remain there as I also hate walking into a house and seeing shoes everywhere.

I have also been considering one of those cupbaords as mentioned by EvesMama.

twinsetandpearls · 16/08/2006 22:23

I have a rule that any shoes left in the porch when I go to bed at night are removed to the loft until I feel kind enough to bring them down. That rule also applies to me , my lovely twinkly monsoon ballets shoes were confiscated the other week by ddp

EvesMama · 16/08/2006 22:24

think they look neat and come in lots of colours finishes.we inherited a beautiful wooden storage unit, come seat, come masterpiece! in this house, seat lifts to open storage and has 5ft high back with three hooks either side..very medievil and very useful for stray shoes n jackets..but looks a 1000'000 years old

shazronnie · 16/08/2006 22:24

you are more harsh than I twinset

twinsetandpearls · 16/08/2006 22:27

That is because I am draconian, you should see what I do to games with pieces missing!

EvesMama · 16/08/2006 22:28

prob same as me with dolls that have one shoe / clothes missing or cheap toys that have a million peices that end up stuck in you foot the minute you take your shoes off!!!.......BIN

twinsetandpearls · 16/08/2006 22:35

It is not just me then.

EvesMama · 17/08/2006 08:29

when we mooved here we had some cheapy barbie looking dolls with shoes missing, and boobs on show..threw them in rubish box in garage to chuck out atlater date..dd found them..brought them back in and ive been helping them to escape one by one every couple of days

BudaBabe · 17/08/2006 08:33

We have built in shoe cupboards PLUS an Ikea shoe rack and I still have shoes all over the place!!!

Mind you I am the worst offender!
I reckon I have about 12 pairs of shoes in the hall - some since spring!

You've made me feel guilty now so I'll tidy up today!

LaTutteuse · 17/08/2006 08:34

loads of bits on ebay

e.g. this if you live near manchester

YellowFeathers · 17/08/2006 08:37

Oooh we have a fab one from Ikea.
Slim, tallish unit with 3 drawers on and fit 3 pairs in each.

LaTutteuse · 17/08/2006 08:37

or here if you're in merseyside

think i'm going to have buy one now

Bozza · 17/08/2006 08:42

I sort of allow 1 or 2 pairs per person to be put neatly under the coat stand. But other than that they are stored in the wardrobe. I have a plastic box in the utility room cupboard for keeping the kid's wellies and our old trainers plus the flipflops I use for hanging out the washing.

EvesMama · 17/08/2006 08:44

i use pegs for hanging out my washing?!

Bozza · 17/08/2006 08:47

Ha Ha. I think you know what I mean. Actually I wear my slippers most of the time but get grief from DH about it.

EvesMama · 17/08/2006 09:07

i knew..am in smart RS mood this morn..sorry..i too wear flip flops when im hanging washing out, but i use dp's so his get wet on grass deww and my prety pink ones stay nice and clean

MrsBadger · 17/08/2006 09:18

I use 'retired' flipflops for hanging out washing and hope no-one sees me as they're [counts] eleven years old.

Bozza · 17/08/2006 09:20

LOL MrsB didn't know it was so common. Mine are probably only about 6 years old and canvas so they occasionally get popped in with the washing. Admit, DH has a point because my slippers do get wet and then start to smell. Not very endearing.

EvesMama · 17/08/2006 09:26

well dps are big size 11 blokey navy blue on my size 6 feet accompanied by hairy legs and cut off most days..so i guess were all a group of stunners when doing our housework eh?
