Hello, this thread is a little old now. Take a look at this handy page for a round-up of the best cleaning products, recommended by Mumsnetters.

I use either bleach or dettol

On shopping day when I'm throwing out the left over bits and filling with the new I just wipe my fridge over inside with whatever kitchen surface cleaner I'm using (flash, mr muscle etc) takes 2 mins do ever week and I have never had to scrub it out and it always looks clean and smells good to

Bcarb of soda and hot water on a brand new J-cloth.

Natural (no chemical smells) cheap and it works. (It also removes any food smells.) Slightly abrasive also.

Much as I love Dettol and bleach and use them in other areas of the house, I'm amazed that anyone would use them inside their fridge. Doesn't the smell contaminate the food Weelady77 (genuine question, not being snippy).

Sans no it's fine I normally wash every Saturday morning and give it a good rinse then when I'm putting shopping away just leave door open, actually you can't smell it at all now I think about it!

Thanks Weelady77 might give Dettol a bit of a go then! I love the stuff!

BaconandAvocado white vinegar also good (if you don't mind the smell) as has mildly natural disinfectant effect.

Dettol is my favourite too

I used washing up liquid and warm water, absolutely fine.

Bicarb and warm water-no products should be used for fridge cleaning!

When you take out the slide out drawers to clean them wrap cling film round them once dry before putting back. Really easy yo then just replace the film if you have any spills in between cleans.
