Help I have maggots in my bin!!!!

Been on holiday for a week and the bin was emptied today. The combination of hot weather and dirty nappies (even though they were in nappy sacks) has caused the bin to stink and when I looked inside I found some maggots. I have just put some bleach and boiling water inside to kill the maggots but I cant get rid of the smell. Any ideas???

we have hd maggots this year too, we don't have a bin and have to store black bags in my garden until bin day, the smell is disgusting and i have to boil a kettle and pour over the bag, then wearing rubber gloves, take the bags out the front on bin day [barf]

I don't know. And you may not have namechanged, but this is the only thread you've posted on.

Maggots aren't health risks til they turn into flies actually.

My husband usually does the grass, but he hurt his arm two months ago. I've been trying to get hold of a strimmer for weeks since it got too long for the mower.

I was going to deal with the bin, but she was out cleaning it before I got the chance to. I don't have a hose, or bleach, or anything else to clean a wheelie bin out, so I was very thankful that she did it, and told her as much.

Our bin gets collected fortnightly and what with dd in nappies its gross by collection today. It makes me heave but nothing seems to work, not even bleach.

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/08/2009 13:45

Wasting, you don't have to justfify yourself to her.

I'm sorry mummiesgirlies but to go around saying that people who have maggots in their bins need to call Kim & Aggie is very rude & uncalled for.

I have a clean house, untidy at times yes but I have 2 DC & they don't live in a show home, but clean. Just because I have maggots in an outside bin where soiled nappies are placed until bin day does not make me or anyone else with this problem dirty. Grow up.

PuppyLoves · 14/08/2009 13:49

I've just found a company that will clean my bin once a month and it will cost £21 for 6 months - it'll be worth it if it keeps the maggots away

PuppyLoves · 14/08/2009 13:50

You are not allowed to put domestic waste into public bins, its illegal you fool

Have you been in my house then?

wastingmyejumication · 14/08/2009 14:07

Nobody has said a word to us, neighbour has been very understanding when I've apologised for the state of the garden.

mummiesgirlie100 · 14/08/2009 14:09

Wasting, people dont want to say anything directly, as they know you are nice people, but they are getting a little concearned thats all.

BitOfFun · 14/08/2009 14:10

Wasting, please stop engaging with this loon for your own safety. Let MNHQ deal with it, my love.

wastingmyejumication · 14/08/2009 14:12

Concerned about grass?!

This is the first and only time I have ever had maggots in my bin.

And how the hell do you know what state my house is in if you've never been in it?!

BoF, I want to know who it is.

wastingmyejumication · 14/08/2009 14:14

How the hell does my neighbour know about a joke I made on an internet forum?

BitOfFun · 14/08/2009 14:14

Let MNHQ work it out. They have the IP and can ban the user for harrassment.

mummiesgirlie100 · 14/08/2009 14:17

Wasting, your neighbour has also got a pc.Didnt look like a joke .
