How often do you wash your bedding?

I have been trying to do mine and my four children's beds every week but finding it impossible and feeling guilty! How often do you honestly do yours and your children's? Hoping its less often than weekly so that I can have peace of mind!!!

It depends on the weather as I don't have a tumble drier. So in the summer, it's weekly, but this time of year about once a fortnight.
I

Gosh your standards are high. Or mine are low.Blush I wash mine and two kids' bedclothes fortnightly unless any major spills occur in between.

BriansBrain · 20/04/2013 23:32

One single on a Monday then another and another on Tue & Wed and then ours on a Thursday.

Wash and bung on spare with no ironing.

In reality it's once every 2 weeks and all done on a Saturday but when I wasn't working it was the above.

LeChatRouge · 20/04/2013 23:32

Mine on Saturdays. Every bed here has at least two sets so plenty of time to dry them......

So tonight......a lovely fresh bed. I love getting into clean sheets.

My friend does it less often, she uses a top sheet as well as a duvet, so washes her sheets, but not her quilt cover IYSWIM.

MousyMouse · 20/04/2013 23:39

every other week.
one week the dc's the other dh's and mine.
lots of airing in between.

Highschoolsweetheart · 20/04/2013 23:42

I do ours on a Sunday, I have 2 sets for our bed so one comes off, and the other goes on. DD's gets done on a Friday she has 3 different sets and they just get rotated.

I don't have a tumble dryer so having an extra set or 2 is a good idea doesn't matter if it takes a while to dry then.

I also only iron the quilt cover once it's on the bed, makes life much easier

CointreauVersial · 20/04/2013 23:46

DCs every two weeks.

Mine/DH's I do the sheet and pillow cases weekly (and flip the duvet), then the duvet every two weeks.

AdoraBell · 21/04/2013 00:01

I aim for weekly, doesn't always happen though. Could you do a kind of rota, without making tons more work for yourself, maybe yours and 1 DC today and the rest tomorrow.

gobbin · 21/04/2013 00:09

Fortnightly.

Bunbaker · 21/04/2013 00:10

Weekly. If I had four children I would dread it as I hate making up beds.

50BalesOfHay · 21/04/2013 00:18

Nobody really leaves the same sheets on all week Shock

Bunbaker · 21/04/2013 00:20

"Nobody really leaves the same sheets on all week"

Are you for real 50? We don't run a hotel or have an army of staff to do our laundry.

Clary · 21/04/2013 00:21

Every week. I only have 3 DC tho. And DD likes to change her own which helps.

50Bales really? How often do you change yorus then?

50BalesOfHay · 21/04/2013 00:28

Daily. I don't wear dirty clothes. I don't sleep in dirty sheets. It takes 5 mins a bed. I only wash duvets weekly though Blush

Bunbaker · 21/04/2013 00:31

You change your bedding daily!!!? That's a bit OTT isn't it?

50BalesOfHay · 21/04/2013 00:35

Each to their own, Bunbaker. I like clean sheets.

notso · 21/04/2013 00:39

When I was working and had 2 DC I did them every week.

Now I'm a SAHM and have 4 DC I do them when I think they need it, or if there is a spillage/vom/snotfest.
DD 12 does her own but doesn't wash them.

50Bales what do you do in one night to make them dirty?

Bunbaker · 21/04/2013 00:40

My sheets are clean after one night. I want to know why yours get so mucky after one night as well.

50BalesOfHay · 21/04/2013 00:42

Sweat badly due to menopause, since you ask, notso

Weekly but.... I have to admit...
The cleaner does it Blush
Although i launder the bedding! Hehe
If it was left to me i would try to do it weekly but might end up being fortnightly every now and then.

Clary · 21/04/2013 00:46

Wow 50 bales you must spend a lot of time washing and ironing sheets.

I don't think I could manage that tbh.

happybubblebrain · 21/04/2013 00:48

Less often than someone on MN starts a threat on this topic.

50BalesOfHay · 21/04/2013 00:52

Wow, outraged, did you really mean to be so rude?

mathanxiety · 21/04/2013 00:57

Weekly for us all (four at home right now). When DS is home there will be one more for the pot so to speak. I have a dryer and they get peeled off the beds in the morning and put back later the same day. I have no spare sheets. I do towels weekly too. Saturday is my big whites wash day. and thank god it's over
