Cats

You know those baby steps people talk about? That's what you need here, baby steps. Sort out which cards need posting and write those today, put them in your bag to post tomorrow. Can you enlist the help of DH for gift wrapping? And don't tell me the man can't wrap gifts because I won't believe you Xmas Wink

Same applies to the housework, baby steps. Do a 15 minute thing in your bedroom, so you have a nice place to retire to tonight, then kitchen, then sit down for 20, then lounge/bathrooms. If DC's rooms are messy just fold/pickup and stick things inside the cupboard for now. Is DS still in school, or do you have both of them around all day (I have no clue about UK school schedules, sorry).

Are you aiming to buy too many gifts, by any chance? If it's an uphill struggle then just buy for DC and get something small, like pre-wrapped chocs fe for any adults you would have bought for. A bottle of wine can go straight in a gift bag, ditto any other gifts really. Depends on your budget as gift bags all round can work out expensive.

, will pop back later -when I've done some housework!

PeppaPigStinks · 10/12/2012 11:57

Oooh I've just added a post before I saw this.

I still need to write cards and organise x mas stuff! Had not thought about that! I just posted about a cleaning list!

Adora I am trying to break things down but you know me, I have my MH battles going on and a case of "bury head in sand and pretend it's not going to happen".

BlackCatinChristmasChaos · 10/12/2012 14:35

There is still a steppers thread but it went so quiet I thought everyone had given up!

I feel the title of this one may be where I am at right now though. Was thinking of maybe starting a new steppers thread in the new year as there is so much else going on this month.

AdoraJingleBells · 10/12/2012 23:06

Hi Zoo

glad DDs are back in school, sorry to hear that DS is still under the weather though.

No progress made in terms of Christmas today, unless you count DDs buying chocs for classmates and wrapping those. House is looking good, have someone viewing tomorrow, after dinner I need to prep and apple pie to stick in the oven just before they arrive. Garden has been tidied, laundry looks under control and ironing has mostly been put away. Just a few things to sort out in the morning.I'm off to get dinner on now.

See you tomorrow

AdoraJingleBells · 11/12/2012 20:50

No preogress made in terms of Christmas today, but the house is gleaming we had someone come back to view the house for a second time. I have everything crossed. Still need to collect 1 DD from a party and do dinner, packed lunch for tomorrow and bring in dry washing. Then bring gifts in from car once DDs are asleep. They've only been in the car since Sat. Xmas Blush

BlackCatinChristmasChaos · 12/12/2012 10:34

Hi all, I haven't forgotten about you, I'm just a bit too busy to post much right now.

Will try to pop in later on.

Hope everyone is o.k. Xmas Smile

This is good for times like this www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/crisis-cleaning/. Need to do it myself Xmas Smile.

AdoraJingleBells · 12/12/2012 12:56

Zoo

I hope everyone feels better quickly. I really need to pop out and get a few things, but DD2 is sleeping off a cold, still. I'll stay in and enjoy my gleaming house. Oh no Xmas Shock there's a smudge, I must attend to it immediately once I've had another coffee

BlackCatinChristmasChaos · 12/12/2012 15:15

Hi all, just grabbing ten mins to MNet.

So far today I have:
Got DC up breakfasted, dressed and to school
had a --much needed-- shower
returned some books to library
bought a few "special" cards for Christmas and a couple of stocking fillers
picked up DD from nursery
lunch
had a visit from a support worker/friend
1 x washing up
had a coffee break

Still to do:
buy cat food and any other essential items
"what's for dinner?"
more washing up/drying up
write out more cards
make sure DS gets home safely from school
clothes washing/drying

This is all if I can overcome my case of CBA!

Thanks for the link seasalt Crisis cleaning is very good sometimes. Xmas Smile

Thanks for the shiny medal Cats Xmas Grin never had one of those for housework before. Having a slow start today, out to dinner last night and then had the most horrendous bloated feeling so couldn't sleep. Now that I think of it, it started before I ate and I dismissed it as I hadn't worn that skirt for ages, so I thought I'd piled on a few extra pounds. Prawn curry wasn't the most sensible choice in the circumstances. Abdominal region feels much better this morning, but I'm whacked.

I did plan to go out shopping this am, forgot about someone coming to do something in the garden. We think we have a problem with someone trying to get in over the fence in a corner, so we need more spiky plants there. I'll try to squeeze in a shopping trip a bit later. DDs break up tomorrow, for us the end of the school year and they are so ready for a holiday. Christmas prep is going very badly, haven't managed much at all this week and I wanted to get as much as possible done while DDs were in school. DD2 is back in school today, had 2 days off but doesn't want to miss the last couple of fun days now they exams are finished.

So after that essay, not much done, loads still to do, hope to make some progress later todayXmas Grin

Thanks for that crisis cleaning link Seasalt, I have a feeling I may be needing that sometime next week. And welcome aboard.

Zoo how are things today?

Cats how are you doing with that case of CBA?

BlackCatinChristmasChaos · 13/12/2012 19:15

After a busy-ish day yesterday, today was quite the opposite! Blush although I managed the usual "must do" jobs like get DC up and ready and to school and I wrote some more cards. I am hoping to get the rest done over the weekend and get them sent off.
Still not much present buying done but then I am waiting for payday. --we are skint--

Bedtime can't come soon enough! the DC are being annoying. DD has been up since 4.30am.

Looking forward to some warmer weather as it has been freezing here this week.

AdoraJingleBells · 14/12/2012 20:58

Hello how's everyone doing?

Had a semi busy couple of days. House has stayed clean, if not gleaming, but DDs have committed the heinous crime of leaving a sticky glass on my lovely varnished wood coffee table, and eat's eaten through the varnish [fshcok] I still love them though.

No laundry done today, I was determined to enjoy my last day of freedom the day before DDs broke up for three months. So, after the morning routine- DW has been emptied and on again, needs emptying again now. Groceries have been bought, last bit of wrapping paper, had coffee with a friend, back home for lunch, put towels and clean ironed clothes away, watered dogs (OH did the feeding) pm school run, home & snack/drinks with DD2, her sis is at a friend's, discovered OH snoozing, left him in peace. Still need to, do dinner, supervise DD2 in the pool, collect DD1.

I may not have much time to update over the extremely long summer school hols as I'll have two 11 year olds vying for my full and undivided attention. I'll do me best, honest.

AdoraJingleBells · 19/12/2012 13:25

I'm sneaking in while DDs are still asleep, just after 10 am here, we had a late night after a busy day shopping and seeing the dentist and price giving at the school yesterday so I'm letting them sleep in so that I can spend time on here and getting a few things done while I have peace and quiet not making any noise in case I wake them up. DW is done, DD's clean undies are sorted into their respective piles, towels & ironed clothes have been put away, I've had breakfast.

All the laundry got done on Monday polishes halo as we have solar panels for the water and I knew we would get clouds today, and we have, lots of heavy stormy looking clouds.

Dogs need their breakfast and I keep forgetting to wrap DD's main presents plus a little extra from their brother. I must do that tonight, they're bound to wake up if I try to do it now.

Cats hope you have a nice visit with your mum, and gets the cards posted.

Zoo thanks form the alcohol, may come in very handy. Sorry to hear that Zoolets have been ill again, glad that littlezoo is on the mend. Can you go to the horse sanctuary another day? Great that the shopkeeper allowed you the credit.

Right, I really must go and feed the dogs, TTFN.

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 19/12/2012 22:21

May I join you please?

Feeling a little calmer this evening after having a bit of a meltdown over the last week or so but I'm sure I'll be back to meltdown tomorrow when I realise just how much I need to do.

I've written out a load of Christmas cards today and sent DS up to the post office to send one to Oz - I know I missed the date by ages but I guess better late than never Blush. I have photos to put in the others then they can go in the post tomorrow.

Also, I have wrapped two presents tonight...only about 100 to goGrin!! Ok, slight exaggeration but there's quite a lot to wrap. My plan of action is to get all my childminded children's gifts packed tonight then do the ones for my family over the weekend after I've bought them.

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 20/12/2012 00:41

I have now packed 12 presents...think I might need to speed up a bit Blush. If only I didn't waste so much time, faffing. On the plus side, I have worked out what to make for lunch when some friends come on Friday BlushGrin.
