Where to buy memory foam mattress?

AngelDog · 19/09/2012 17:43

We need a new single mattress. I want to get a memory foam one as I've slept on them a couple of times on holiday and been amazed by how much less achey I was in the mornings (I was pg both times).

Where can I buy a decent one? We are on a limited budget so I want to get one as cheap as possible, but don't want to buy something rubbish.

...This Answer will Not be your "Cup of Tea" dear,However, Since I have had
Back problems since the age of 16; I mentioned to my Doctor that I wanted a
Memory Foam type of Mattress. He said-"Sounds Great to Me...as long as you
Like SPIDERS.They Live in Foam and Seek Foam, and Love Foam!" Well, my
Hubby and I Hate the little Creepy-Crawlers...so we bought an "Extra-Firm
Mattress...and we make due with That. Jill.

I've never found any spiders in our memory foam mattress or in our memory foam toppers, I think your doc was having a laugh...

Will try to remember where I bought ours. I love love love it. All I can remember at the mo is that it's made by Breasley and had better Which reviews than Tempur. You do need to pay for decent quality foam though.

Or you could just try a MF topper on your existing mattress. We've transformed a couple of single beds by doing that.

We bought ours from http://www.memoryfoamwarehouse.co.uk/ here. Good service and the mattresses are so comfortable. We also don't have a problem with spiders but I am a little bit scared of Jill!

link!

We have this one and you can get an extra 5% off with the code 50FF.

AngelDog · 21/09/2012 08:23

Thanks! :)

I must look into whether it'd be cheaper to get a normal mattress plus a topper.

I quite like spiders and my 2 y.o. loves them, so that's no disincentive here! Grin

We got a mattress topper combo from ikea. It is fantastic, we got really good advice in the shop as well.

Paradisefound · 21/09/2012 15:08

We bought ours at dreams. We spent ages lying on all the different mattresses before choosing a tempur one ... It's amazing!

eggsandwich · 21/09/2012 17:48

ideal world the shopping channel do them.

suebfg · 21/09/2012 20:37

I've bought our memory foam mattresses from Mattress Next Day, most recently this one: Dorlux ViscoCare 1000.

I can highly recommend Mattress Next Day having ordered from them three times now. They are quick, reliable and very competitive on price. The Dorlux mattresses are great - I have them on all the beds in our house now.

muddyjumpers · 21/09/2012 20:47

Don't get the Ideal world ones!
MIL has them on her beds. DH & I stayed with them a couple of weeks ago and i spent all night rolling into DH.

At home, we have an ortho. mattress with memory foam (3.5") topper and DH & i don't roll into the middle well unless we want to Grin

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 21/09/2012 21:07

We got ours from Theme Valley, found it much more supportive than Tempur ones which IMO are far too squishy, but obviously everyone's different. Had it 8 years and it made the word of difference to both mine and DH's back problems, although after two pregnancies a bit of a dip has developed in the middle where my heavy old hips have been. I don't know if any mattress would have done that anyway and we will still be replacing with another memory foam one.

Never had a spider problem...

CuttedUpPear · 23/09/2012 13:02

I am sleeping on a topper which I filched from DP's bed. It really helps with my back.
Watching this thread with interest as I might have to buy my own soon.

Also - never had any problems with spiders since mine has been here.

Which did a review. They found the Silentnight 3 Zone Memory Foam to be the best of those reviewed (and its one of the cheaper ones too).
The which website says its currently on sale for £199 but I just googled it and Amazon have them for £149 delivered (double bed size).

AngelDog · 28/09/2012 15:31

Thanks everyone.

Does anyone know an actual shop where I can try the Silentnight 3 zone memory foam one? I've not managed to find one so far - all the stockists on the Silentnight website sell other mattresses but not that one.

DD has a mattress topper from Dunelm. It is unbelievably comfortable.

anice · 01/10/2012 07:46

you've tried phoning carpetright, bensons for beds and john lewis at home to ask? The silentnight website says "Your nearest memory foam 3 zone stockists are shown below" and it lists these shops (plus a few other local ones that I left out because they are local to me, but I don't know where you live).

AngelDog · 01/10/2012 07:59

Yes, I've tried all three - Bensons & Carpetright sell Silentnight mattresses, but not the one I want. Hmm That's a useful tip about the list of stockists - thanks.
