Hanging out your undies...

I have no problem in hanging out DH's pants but I feel funny about putting my knickers and bras on the line in the garden, mainly because both sets of neighbours have full view. Is this just silly? Do you hang your lacy smalls out?!

It's a slow afternoon in the Bear house and this is the kind of thing that I've been pondering in front of Biggest Loser while eating kitkats.

If truth be told, I hate doing it because I can never get the stains out completely and I'm embarrassed by that. Lots of my knickers are as old as my Son (14 next month) and have seen better days for sure! I have recently thrown out several pairs of them and was even embarrassed to do that!
I think that when I have got to my target weight, I will treat myself to some nice, pretty, new knickers!!

If you have stains run them under a hot tap and use a bit of Fairy liquid - works a treat for just about any stain.

Treat yourself to some nice knicks now - don't put it off, knickers are so cheap these days!

If it ever stops raining, all our undies go out on the line, mine, DHs and DCs. We have four neighbours bordering our back garden, but I'v enever heard any of them complain.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 31/07/2012 12:46

I can't be worrying about visible undies as I am too busy with my other laundry laws:

  1. Socks must be hung out in pairs, all of mine together and all of DH's together.
  2. My pants must be hung together, and DH's hung together.
  3. All items of clothing must be hung out with matching pegs.
  4. Anything smaller than DH's boxers must be hung high enough that the dogs can't pull them off the line (so on the outside).

valium, I've tried everything!! I think I must just be quite acidic down there because I even manage to cause blistering on the outside wall of my Mooncup Blush. And as for buying cheap knickers...I find that these days, if you buy cheap ones, they don't cover possible!! Grin

Dear MIL hung my massive nursing bras horizontally along the washing line. I still blush.

BananaPie · 31/07/2012 20:08

Do people really get snobby about hanging any washing out? I can't stand having it draped over airers in the house. Much better to get it dry outside, and I'm sure the neighbours have got better things to do...

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 31/07/2012 21:06

I have a long line and hang it all out on display. I figure anyone who is so bored they're looking at my laundry deserves something to laugh at!

PerfectStranger74 · 31/07/2012 21:12

I've never aired my clean linen in public!
(totally different matter for the dirty stuff
:o )

I think it was from my prude and weird dad that I got that little trait.
Really don't like to see my neighbour's washday grey parachutes and h ammocks hanging out, so would NEVER put my own up on show!

Bunbaker · 31/07/2012 21:15

Wow, some real prudes on here! If your undies are that disgraceful FGS buy some new ones. They don't cost that much.

PacificDogwood · 31/07/2012 22:21

sunflowerseeds, that is funny Grin. You must have a loooong washing line
