Hanging out your undies...

I have no problem in hanging out DH's pants but I feel funny about putting my knickers and bras on the line in the garden, mainly because both sets of neighbours have full view. Is this just silly? Do you hang your lacy smalls out?!

It's a slow afternoon in the Bear house and this is the kind of thing that I've been pondering in front of Biggest Loser while eating kitkats.

I only hang out my best knickers and bras. I am clueless why - the bloke next door is nearly 30 yrs older than me and he's a retired gynaecologist so he's no doubt seen more interesting sights than my pants.

Why do so many of you keep manky underwear? I don't own any that I would be ashamed of, and I don't have expensive undies - I get all mine from M & S.

I hang all mine out , they are only clothes. I'm sure your neighbours wear pants too.

I have never even thought about it - didn't realise neighbours may be rating/observing my undies...

I did make a small "ooh" noise when the neighbour over the back put her new whirly RIGHT by the front door, cos the postie would be able to see her smalls! :D

I do hang mine out and I hide them in the middle of the whirly. I am v self conscious about it because they are mostly plain black or white M&S cotton midis, size 14, whereas my neighbour is a 5'10" fashion model type who no doubt wears thongs and silk lacey things, but she doesn't peg out. I always imagine that she is pointing and laughing at my drawers.

I don't hang any of mine out as I like to think that people view me as a sex-godess and if they saw my sensible knickers and extra-support bras my cover would be blown.

We don't hang out washing.

My mil does, & she has her 7 pairs of big white Sloggis lined up next to each other, next to her ginormous bras. Makes me cringe!

What makes ladee's underwear hanging out so much more embarrassing than men's smalls, I wonder??
Or is anybody here squeamish about hanging their menfolk's undies out? Or are the men??

I don't know why it makes me cringe, it just seems a bit undignified. I don't like any washing out, if I am honest.

I know I am being unreasonable.

I am the opposite over good underwear, until about a year ago I had very plain bras from M&S and huge cotton midis and I hung them out in full view quite happily.

Then I found out I was wearing the wrong size and always had been and so started my underwear obsession, now I have rather a lot of very beautiful stuff that all has to be hand washed, but I will only hang it on the part of the line that is hidden from view, or on a airer right next to the wall where it can't be seen.

Why? It is better for the washing, better for the environment and better for your purse. I really, really, don't get this snobbery about hanging washing out - or this obsession about not hanging out underwear (baffled).

I do hang out all my washing including undies when it stops raining long enough to make it worthwhile. I am more likely to put knickers and bras in the middle of the rotary airer than on the outsides but this is only because I have got some Muslim neighbours and I don't want to upset or offend them. I actually have no idea whether they would actually be offended but I am guessing that as they believe that women should be very "modestly" dressed, it might cause some upset!

I was hanging out washing once when a neighbour (non-Muslim) came out into the garden (we have communal gardens for apartments) and I waved to him to say hello as he was on the phone. When I turned back round to continue hanging up washing I realised that I had actually waved a rather old and faded pair of pink knickers at him, that I happened to have in my hand at the time! He still speaks to me though!!

I hang mine out but they do block all the sun out.

The bit of my garden with the washing line in it isn't overlooked but I hang out all other clothes and dry everyone's underwear indoors. And I'm not entirely sure why.

I hang everything out (too tight fisted environmentally aware for a tumble drier--) but my glamorous under-apparel goes on one of those little peggy airers do is probably hard to discern to the naked eye.

I thread all my matching pants through the bra strap and then clip my bra strap round the rotary line. Are you impressed that I have matching sets with multiple pairs of pants?
