Come talk to me about Steam cleaners

Interesting in getting a steam cleaner but dont know where to start!

Budget of up to about £100.

Want to use it for the hardwood floors downstairs and the slate floor in the kitchen so thinking a mop style one but then thinking id like to use it around the kitchen too.
I think id prefer one thats a mop (so thats it easy to use, quickly as building poles etc would be too much of a faff) but also have attachments to use on a hose.
Anyone any ideas?

I've been thinking about one but we're moving in to rentred accomodation with laminate foors, so I'm a bit worried about damging them. I hope you don't mind me hanging around just to see what others say...

I'm after one too. Have uneven tiled floor in kitchen and labrador leaves it constantly filthy. On knees scrubbing it today (pregnant and knackered) and just thought, sod this. I'm getting a machine.

Do you think this would do it? I can't work out if it would get into the nooks and crannies between tiles.

Ugh, appears that the second one doesn't actually pick up dirty water after blasting it with steam. So, no to that one!

Huh? What's the point of that?!

The Vax one sounds good, but £150 seems an awful lot of money to spend just to clean my kitchen floor...

think im about to purchase this done lots of research and watch some youtube videos it looks amazing and it £100

Savy I think I have seen that one demoed on QVC and it loooked really good, it is also cheaper on there, bu the reviews are a bit hit and miss. However I have always found QVC's customer service to be very good so I'm sure if there is a problem it will be sorted out. This is the link here.

I have just got the one savy linked from QVC - Its great on my wooden floors and on uneven tiles in the kitchen - so much easier than mop and bucket - dries really quickly too - love it. It doesn't however cut through grime in my oven like they said it would on QVC - as a handheld it is heavy and bulky - but as a mop it is fantastic.

Is good on rugs as well!

Have had a think about it and ordered this instead:

Not a steam mop, but at least it'll get in the grooves of my floor and can be used alongside me existing mop. Just couldn't make myself risk spending so much on something that might not work ...

I got one and it was so crap I packed it up and sent it back the same day (was a vax). I think your house has to be clean to start off with for them to work. Please feel free to convince me otherwise.

Savvy- Thats one I have looked at too as it has the mop but and also the handheld option which will do the other jobs.
Our kitchen tiles are slate so not completely flat so its good to know that it works well on them too.

Can a steam mop be used on laminate / vinyl flooring e.g. Amtico or Pergo brands.

ahh wish i had checked back here before i ordered mines late on friday night i ordered it from official site for £99 +£6.95 qvc is considerably cheaper for it :( hopefully though it should be delivered by start of the week

The QVC one doesn't come with as many attachments..

Can a steam cleaner be used on Amtico/ Spacia/ Pergo or wooden flooring- vinyl, laminate or real wood? Anyone please

I had a Black and Decker one, it was brilliant for the four times it worked. I think if you live in a hard water area none of them are going to last long. It could be used on all types of floor though. Great on the wood and terracotta tiles not so good on slate as the surface of the tile is bumpy.

I heard one from Lakeland is good and about £40. Or there's that one called Shark I've seen in Asda.

I was so excited to get it too. Try and use filtered water if you can. The carpet bit isn't as good though

really? aww im hoping the carpet but will work miricals on my cream carpets :( will give it a gd shot anyways

I don't think they clean carpets very well at all from the things I've read.
I want one to clean kitchens, tiles, bathrooms, maybe windows. But do they actually do a better job than normal cleaning products? No one seems to be able to tell me.
