kickass hoover

madmomma · 16/04/2012 12:16

I'm in the market for a new hoover and I want one that will rock my world. I'm so fed up with crap hoovers. I don't care what it costs - I just want the dog's bs of the hoover world and I don't know what that is. Do any of you absolutely love your hoover? If so please tell me what it is.

miele

do you want an upright or a cyl?

ContinentalKat · 16/04/2012 15:57

Dyson cyclone. I would rather leave dh and dcs than part with my beloved dyson.

WentworthMillerMad · 16/04/2012 21:12

Miele - cyl is best!

mumdebump · 17/04/2012 10:44

Sebo owners seem to be devoted to theirs!

NowWeKnow · 17/04/2012 10:49

I'm thinking of getting a Sebo next time or Oreck. My mum had a Sebo for years and loved it because it was powerful but lightweight. I find many vacuum cleaners so blimmin heavy.

My Dyson is nearing the end of the road now. It's been good, but like my Hoover before it, too hefty to lug about.

hedwig2001 · 17/04/2012 11:00

I was talked into buying a Kirby, several years ago.
Expensive, but works brilliantly. Can shampoo carpets too!

NanTheWiser · 17/04/2012 21:55

Another Sebo convert here - bought mine a few months ago and I love it!

madmomma · 18/04/2012 08:43

does the miele cyl have a bag?
Yes I've had a bog standard dyson, but found it a bit clunky

OP posts:
madmomma · 18/04/2012 08:45

hmm never even heard of sebo, or oreck, or kirby! aargh!

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 18/04/2012 11:39

Miele every time.

redrubyshoes · 18/04/2012 12:03

Miele. Had mine for 15 years and it is bloody brilliant.

madmomma · 18/04/2012 12:08

So what's good about the miele? And redrubyshoes have you have to have yours serviced or repaired in that time?

OP posts:
redrubyshoes · 18/04/2012 12:19

The Miele is very robust, can suck up a house brick, has large hoover bags so less frequent changes and it has never gone wrong or been serviced or needed a part. The atttachments have their own internal storage within the unit so you are less likely to lose them.

I love Miele products. Smile

madmomma · 18/04/2012 13:32

sounds good. Where do you buy the bags from and how much are they, please?

OP posts:
redrubyshoes · 18/04/2012 14:05

I buy them online (tries to remember when I last bought some) and I think they are about £5.50 per box.

redrubyshoes · 18/04/2012 14:05

Sorry - Amazon sell them.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 18/04/2012 14:07

In my opinion A dyson Animal is the best - but I have 2 big dogs that shed hair continually.

On the whole people are either dyson/miele/oreck/sebo lovers.

The rest are a bit pants.

valiumredhead · 18/04/2012 14:15

I've had one of my Miele's about 10 years and still going strong - I keep that upstairs and have another downstairs so I don't have to struggle up and downstairs

I would always get Miele.

anniewoo · 18/04/2012 22:46

Miele cat and dog. I would buy it again- the best recommemdation!

CuttedUpPear · 21/04/2012 08:20

marking my place

Iggly · 21/04/2012 08:24

SEBO.

Has two attachments, one multipurpose on including for hard floor, one just for the carpets. The carpets only one is ace on the carpets. It's a cylinder one, with metal tubes and it feels lovely and solid and clunks when you put it together.

I nearly bought a Miele but SEBO won in the end. It has a hypo allergenic filter (HEPA) which was important to me.

alibubbles · 21/04/2012 08:32

Miele for upstairs and the housekeeper, Sebo downstairs. The Sebo is 10 years old and still going strong with no problems and it was abused by builders - I bought them a Henry, also excellent.

blondieminx · 21/04/2012 08:36

Our Sebo is nearly ten years old but it's brilliant and great on pet hair. I too wanted the best Hoover and brought it on a recommendation from the good housekeeping magazine product tests Smile

NowWeKnow · 21/04/2012 11:58

I am lurking on this thread also interested as new vacuum is imminent.

Oh dear hard choice: Sebo and Miele keep coming up tops according to this thread. It'll have to be a Harry Hill fightGrin

alibubbles · 21/04/2012 14:59

Sebo and Miele are vaccuum cleaners, they are not Hoovers! A hoover is a hoover, but also a vacuum cleaner, pedantic I know!
