April Fledglings Fly into Spring, Get That Clutter into the Bin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/03/2012 22:47

Welcome to the April 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Come and join us for a bit of chat and a lot of housework (or possibly the other way round).

A huge "thank you" to SanguineChompa for leading us through March

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat and support along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis. Feel free to browse the Flylady website as well, links below

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here and here!

All long-standing members, intermittent returnees, lurkers and newcomers welcome!!

Quiet on here today. Hope that means you have all been doing lots of nice things and not boring housework.

DS and I had a nice afternoon at the Scout parade after all. We live about 10 mins walk from the meeting point so had planned to walk in but it was pouring with rain so DH gave us a lift in. The parade lasted about 10 mins, the poor Scouts had hailstones bouncing off their heads but DS was quite chipper (I walked alongside with his friend's mum). We went for a coffee while the Scouts were in church (no room for parents as it was a whole district thing) and then walked back by which time the rain had stopped, then came home again, just before the heavens opened again, we saw a lovely rainbow.

DH has gone off on business till tomorrow night, so I've had a lazy evening with the DCs. Need to go and sort out bookbags etc now.

Flying wise - I did do about 15 mins decluttering in my bedroom in anticipation of this weeks zone work. Have tried to tidy as many floors as possible but given up with an achey back. I also decluttered my handbag, DD took one look and said "Mum, no wonder your back aches!"

Blue - hope DS1 is better soon

BitchyInTheCorner · 23/04/2012 09:27

Well i have only just got ds into school. Sooo tired slept through 3 lots of alarms which is quite a feet to be achieved.

I have a week from hell and need to spend today planning. So am going to switch Tuesday's planning with Monday's homebless. Hopefully this will work. Hmm

Right now I am going to sit with a very large cup of coffee, pen and paper. Actual moving getting on with stuff will follow shortly after lunch and a nervous breakdown at thought of having to achieve what needs to be done Hmm

Right good luck and good days to all.

Tryingtogetairbourne · 23/04/2012 09:28

Whoknows no rain here yet..at least its watering drowning the plants...

How did speaking to SENCO go? All good?

And gentle psh in direction of OU....now will someone push me to the litter tray...must add to list to do

CLEAN LITTER TRAY...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 23/04/2012 09:34

MummyN - I know that area well, I worked in Bridgemary for years and commuted up and down the A32. I've still got a lot of friends down there, in fact I'm off to Wickham next week for a meetup.

Trying - yes, , just needed a quick word about DS's OT that he does at school (he has Aspergers and a host of coordination problems/weaknesses etc). Go and sort your litter!

Bitchy - you sound as though you are in the right frame of mind for planning your week.

Off to pilates now.

OP posts:
BitchyInTheCorner · 23/04/2012 09:52

Ooooh Nickleby. I know that area well. A bit too well perhaps. You have some lovely beaches that neck of the woods.

Right now going to ignore the following:
plans for tuesday, thursday and friday, and the list of what has to be finished before saturday.

Today's list is as follows:
Up and funcitoning
morning school run
lunch for ds made
Beds made
Ironing
Laundry
clothes away
towels away
bedding away
plant up plug plants
plant out beans - natural selection here if they freeze bollocks to it (too much other stuff to be worrying about mutant beans)
Unload DW
reload DW
wash up stuff that doesn't go in dw (pots etc)
Deep clean benches and cooker
bleach sink
hoover floor (using kitchen floor for planting up at due to weather, would normally use patio)

That will do for now or I will just depress myself.

MoreCatsThanKids · 23/04/2012 09:58

Morning everyone
trying - thanks for hot chocolate last night - did slurp some from my hidingplace in the naughty corner :)

Panic clean time todayBlush as house still suffering from CHAOS, but have got to have someone over (mobility teacher for DD - never met her before )

Was conforting my lazy self that could throw all the cr*p carefully sorted things upstairs but what if she needs the loo? Shock Our downstairs toilet is horrible - like a little cupboard no window and I haven't been in there for months the rule is DH uses it so DH says he cleans it.

Do I dare just clean bathroom upstairs or will she snoop get lost and go in another room? And why am I typing when I've done nothing and it's ten o'clock

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 23/04/2012 11:03

Clean the bathroom, leave the door open so it's obvious which room it is and shut all the other doors, that's what I'd do Morecats.

Back from pilates and feeling all stretched and toned, which won't last if I sit hunched over the computer for long. I've just put the kettle on if anyone fancies a Brew.

OP posts:
Tryingtogetairbourne · 23/04/2012 11:13

Morecats put carefully sorted things in one bedroom, yours, then shut door :) should be no need to go in your room? ANd this week is sorting the master bedroom so you will sort this week...won't you?

(Glad you liked the danish pastries and hot chocolate :) were you up very early late?)

MummyN can you do my allotment for me? Rained so solidly that have not been for about 3 weeks Blush given up growing seeds on indoors as they always die, or grow really spindly...so only plant seeds outdoors now...hopefully in May :) Must say I do have my potatos chitting still in bag in car

Bitchy Why do you have to get it all done today?

Whoknows enjoy your pilates...planning to do 6 wk course in summer hols myself, have slightly ropy back myself at times (luckily infrequently), suspect due to lack of exercise...hope yours is feeling better, very debilitating having a poorly back

Done

Dog walk talk with other dog walkers
1 x bedding back on bed (okay it was a sleeping bag but still counts)
1 x bedding in drier

To Do
CAT LITTER
drying dishes
set off dishwasher
Shower
surgery on skin tag (do I dare clip off?)

off now too much chat...must get on...got 1 hour left!!! Aaggghhh!!! home blessing time and shower...won't have time for both adn what about lunch!!!

sh*t

BitchyInTheCorner · 23/04/2012 12:05

Can't remember who asked but that is just today's list. By sat I need to have turned chaos house into tidy organised house and have the garden project at the point where the help that is coming in can get the work done. I have a list of rooms and what needs to be done in each, and a list of everything else that needs doing because of life.

BitchyInTheCorner · 23/04/2012 12:33

Shittingbollockinghell. Never. I repeat. Never go into the garden when you have a ton to do in the house. There has been a subsidence issue in the garden (garden only affected house completely fine) I am now going to have to sort that out.

Oh and natural selection took ALL the runner beans. Arses :(

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 23/04/2012 15:36

I'm just impressed that your lawn is dry enough to mow Bitchy. Mine, which is normally very free draining as we're on chalk, is like a mudbath at the moment.
