MN oven cleaning trip?

Hi
Someone, somewhere on a random thread I can't remember, mentioned the 'MN oven cleaning trick'. It's something soaking a tea towel in something then draping it on dirty bit for x minutes then it almost wipes itself off.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks to the thread about maintenance wash for WM and cleaning dishwasher and putting fridge shelves etc in newly clean dishwasher my appliances are super clean but not my oven. I HATE cleaning the oven but it shames me now.

It was a dishwasher tablet, Maryz's idea I believe.
I now have a gleaming washing machine and dishwasher, am yet to do the oven though

NotInMyDay · 25/02/2012 20:50

Yay! How right you are. It has all come back to me now.

Thank you (and Maryz).

So what do you to with the dishwasher tablet then?

messymammy · 25/02/2012 21:10

Charlie you dissolve the tablet in some boiling water, soak a tea towel in the solution and drape on oven surface. Not sure how long to leave it, but as mine is particularly bad, id say 30 mins. Then wipe off.

Ooo liking the dishwasher tablet idea. Currently mid use of oven pride. An overnight clean, managed to chemical burn my arms. Fecking hurts

Dishwasher tablet sounds good for the bits I don't want to use OVen Pride on. Can somebody link me to the keeping your washing machine clean thread please.

I have a question.

If I do the MN oven cleaning trick and then use the teatowel that cleaned the oven as a buffer in the washing machine on a boil wash to prevent bubble-overload do I get some special award? Or will I at least be doing the right thing?

I read the WM thread yesterday and talked myself out of it for fear of drowning in a sea of bubbles. You're tempting me to do it now....

Thanks messy

PastGrace I had no bubbles here.

And yes you would get a prize. Similar to the one I awarded myself for outing the WM drawer in the dishwasher during its maintenance wash.
