Has anyone cancelled their ocado delivery pass?

Did ocado beg for you to return? Or did you haggle with them? I'm not up for paying the £109 delivery pass fee as it was a special offer of £40 when I signed up just over a year ago. However now i haven't renewed I am not enjoying seeing all the £6.99 slots and trips to the supermarket with DS2 who barely knows how to behave in a shopping trolley. I want to try not to order for a while in the vain hope they will give me a deal on a delivery pass... Anyone got any recent experience? I think they are not being so generous nowadays as their share price is shocking and they are still not that profitable.

GROUPON had a £40 ocado midweek delivery pass offer.

MrsJamin · 06/02/2012 10:31

That's for new customers only.

I rang up to cancel and they offered me a special offer - £6 a month for 6 months though that did only cover tuesdays wednesdays and thursdays.

MrsJamin · 06/02/2012 10:34

Ah I should have called - I emailed them and they just replied with "Ok I'll cancel it for you".

apolgies, it was 2.99 a month for 6 months THEN £6 a month.

IDunnoHowAnyoneDoesIt · 06/02/2012 10:35

I know
they are bastards
and rather unreliable of late imo

OlympicEater · 06/02/2012 10:35

I was offered £9.99 per month when my £6.99 per month pass ran out. I e-mailed them back declining and being very insulted that my friend had got hers for £3.99.

They mailed me back offering it to me at £3.99 Grin but tbh I thought that their service had gone downhill lately and was annoyed at their stupid multi-buy system that I use Sainsburys (free over £100 tue - thu) or waitrose - (free over £50)

MrsJamin · 06/02/2012 11:20

Ah you see I can't fault them and I love the iPhone app and being able to alter my shopping list last-minute. I would rather not use waitrose as it delivered 2 out of date items in two deliveries and often had things out of stock. Perhaps I should tart myself about a bit to get some new customer deals on sainsburys etc

I've just had my renewal and it was £10 cheaper than last year.

Haven't had any issues with them tbh and I love the iphone app which waitrose etc don't have.

But ocado are in real financial trouble so I do wonder how long they will still be around for.

paulapantsdown · 06/02/2012 11:32

I just cancelled as I wasn't really using them at the time, and didn't try to do a deal for it. Since cancelling/not ordering with them, they have not emailed me at all with any offers or incentinves, which is strange as they have done so in the past when I left it a week or two without ordering (free naice ham etc). I have noticed that the delivery charges are ridiculous now - £6.99 etc for the times that suit me, so thats me and Ocado finished I think.

MrsJamin · 06/02/2012 11:36

The slots are definitely more expensive than they were previously, it seems like the only free ones are weds after lunch, only if you book 10 days in advance, or Saturday at 10.30pm. They also haven't emailed me which is interesting. I wonder whether they are in real financial trouble- which means it might not be a good time to buy an annual pass anyway.

They are watching me! They just sent me a 20% off voucher - weird!

BigBadBear · 06/02/2012 13:35

I phoned to cancel mine in September as I thought it was a bit pricey at £109 for the year (I'd had it on an offer for the previous year). They immediately offered the £6.99 Tuesday to Thursday only, and I said that I wanted deliveries at the weekend, so they immediately agreed to the same price but for anytime deliveries (and on a rolling monthly basis, rather than being tied in for a year). I love the app, have never had any problems and the £40 minimum spend means I get two small deliveries a week, so I said yes, but I was a bit aghast that they could reduce the price so easily just by me phoning up.

But I'm starting to think that I could go with Sainsburys...

OlympicEater · 06/02/2012 13:48

Paula - me too

MrsJamin · 06/02/2012 14:20

Right, my course of action, like that of a scorned girlfriend is to not make any communication with them do they come running back to me with their tail between their legs and a 20% off voucher. If that doesn't work I will phone and beg!

MrsJamin · 06/02/2012 14:21

*so they... (blardy iPhone)

OP posts:
wannaBe · 06/02/2012 14:23

their flotation on the stock market has been a disaster iirc.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 06/02/2012 14:25

I'm going to cancel mine. I just don't use them enough to make it worth my while. I also get annoyed when it takes 6 screens of 'special offers' just to check out. If I'd have wanted them then I'd have put them into the basket in the first place. Waitrose don't deliver here though so I'll have to have a think. Sad

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 06/02/2012 14:25

I cancelled mine because they aren't taking John Lewis vouchers anymore and I get those through work and pay for most of my food shop that way. I switched to Waitrose instead, but they are USELESS. The amount of things which are unavailable every week (this week: Brie, Mange Touts, Smoked Salmon amongst 8 items) means I end up doing another trip out anyway, and the website is really REALLY difficult to use - very slow and nigh on impossible to top up my basket during the week on an iPhone. I'm really disappointed and would go back to Ocado in a heartbeat, were it not for the voucher issue.

MrsJamin · 06/02/2012 14:49

Doesn't look good for them looking at all these comments! Come on Ocado, we want to be your customers but you're not making it easy!

i cancelled ours, having tried the £40 a year pass too. am now using waitrose who deliver free (and not too many missing items from our branch). i do agree with others that their website is a total PITA to use compared to ocado and i am having lots of issues with it not adding items to my basket, duplicating orders etc. so i may end up going back to ocado, if they can tempt me!

OlympicEater · 06/02/2012 16:12

Shelley I've had the duplicating orders issue with Waitrose as well - on two separate occasions.

They were very good about dealing with it though, checked which one I did want, refunded the wrong one and gave me two bottles of wine by way of apology Grin

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 06/02/2012 16:33

Waitrose Customer Service has always been great, IMHO, but it is a bit of a faff having to go shopping when you've just had a delivery, trying to get duplicated orders sorted. I never had that with Ocado (but perhaps I was just lucky). The Waitrose website is sooooooo ssslllooooowww ...

Chestnutx3 · 06/02/2012 18:22

I cancelled but their computer systems don't seem to have realised! However, I am now physically going to Sainsburys and having an organic veg box delivered and I am happier with the produce.

I think the fruit and veg from Ocado/Waitrose is tasteless and overpriced.

Twice I have not had my roast for the Sunday (Saturday delivery) delivered at all, no substitute. Twice the roast has been at the bottom of the weight limits (but they vary by 50%).

I'll probably still use them just once a month - although may just take the long trip to Waitrose instead.

My circumstances have changed though SAHM but youngest now at nursery 3 mornings so I can get to the shops more easily.

Ocado are suffering as average spend per customer is plummeting as well as the number of customers. The groupon offer shows they are in trouble.

PigletJohn · 07/02/2012 10:36

is it true that Ocado relies on being a Prestige brand?
