Where should I be looking? Especially with sales coming up ! I need loads of pillow cases and bottom sheets. Only looking for white and 100% cotton.
Not made of money the two DD that left this Autumn saw to that, passed on the grot older stuff. Xmas Grin

Thread count is important so at least 200 or best 400

White company is delicious if you can afford it.
John Lewis now do thread counted stuff which felt nice
There's also random catalogues I like Stowalls of somewhere my Nanna bought from.

maydaychild · 21/12/2011 19:35

Ah Scott's of stow I had to google it!

Ponders · 21/12/2011 19:35

Matalan do egyptian cotton, but not sure what their thread count is

TKMaxx have some amazingly lovely stuff sometimes, I'd look there first

maydaychild · 21/12/2011 19:38

Do you know you have got me now, I love getting into bed...
I have a padded feather mattress topper. Then a jersey cotton sheet (and pillow) then white company bed linen. It's the jersey layer makes a huge difference
And goose feather duvet.
Goodnight .....

harbingerofdoom · 21/12/2011 19:49

maydaychild Wow sounds sooo luxurious. Dreams..... But the basics needed first! Xmas Envy

WhiteChristmasontheSierraMadre · 21/12/2011 19:51

John Lewis definitely a good choice.

I had some "high thread count" stuff from TK Maxx and it bobbled. Not as bad as godawful polycotton, but enough Xmas Angry

Ponders · 21/12/2011 19:52

my TKMaxx egyptian cotton is the nicest I've ever had - like satin Smile

maydaychild · 21/12/2011 19:56

It's taken many years to get to this! All sale purchases as well.

bigscarymum · 21/12/2011 20:09

Costco sheets are lovely and very reasonable

harbingerofdoom · 21/12/2011 20:38

Just been digging around t'net and came up with Wallace sacks linen. Any idea?

Do you shop at TK Maxx online?

Doesn't Costco need a membership card?

FestiveFriedaWassailsAgain · 21/12/2011 20:40

I have bought 100% white cotton bedding from TK Maxx, is nice but very thin, not sure how hardwearing it will be. Looks lovely until the dogs climb on it though.

Ponders · 21/12/2011 20:43

TKMaxx homewares seem to be in person only - is there one anywhere near you?

\link{http://www.justlinen.co.uk/justlinen/product.asp?design=505&dept=3\600 thread here at Just Linen}

£40 for a double sheet though...

harbingerofdoom · 21/12/2011 21:26

No don't want thin. Think it needs to last this time!

OP posts:
Ponders · 21/12/2011 21:29

you def need to do this physically - I have bought pillowcases from TKMaxx, to use as liners, which were very thin, but that didn't matter so much

for sheets it matters

you need to feel before you buy Grin

harbingerofdoom · 21/12/2011 22:36

Oooh, aaah, very Carry On. Would always feel before buying!

OP posts:
Ponders · 21/12/2011 22:40

oooh matron

PuraVida · 21/12/2011 22:42

Wallace sacks us hit and miss. I've got sone pillow cases from there that aren't 'square' the seams are skewiff, and a duvet cover where one seam is all gathered and puckered

I've got some other bits that are better quality but overall I'd hesitate to recommend them

HazeltheMcWitch · 21/12/2011 22:46

John Lewis sale, surely? Almost all my linen has come from there: I go for second on high thread count, white Egyptian cotton. I've been building my collection over a few years, and it is all wearing really well, in fact much better than my White Company set!

JoJoH1 · 21/12/2011 22:48

northern nights from qvc my mum swears buy them good high thread count and washes really well fab quality really.

harbingerofdoom · 21/12/2011 22:49

Thanks for that PV I thought they might be 'seconds' but don't say as such.

startail · 21/12/2011 22:49

White sheets, do you know the life expectancy of a white sheet in this house?
It's about the same as a fair ground gold fish!

harbingerofdoom · 21/12/2011 22:56

OKay-how old are your sheets? I think that some of the singles that have appeared for my DDs were mine.

OP posts:
FriskyBivalves · 21/12/2011 23:01

No, no, no, no, no.

You are all rank amateurs. Grin

The best site anywhere, and tbh I am letting you into the secret with enormous reluctance lest they get complacent and put up prices, is King of Cotton. I'm afraid I am a rank amateur when It comes to links but it comes up on google.

Honest to gods. I buy everything from them and it's all amazing including the towels. Lasts for ever, no bobbling. You don't have to go mad on the thread count - think all my stuff is 400. Very white, plain, classic stuff.

LoveInASnowyClimate · 21/12/2011 23:01

John Lewis - sale starts soon!

LaurieFairyCake · 21/12/2011 23:03
