September Flegdgling Fliers - Part 2!

elliepac · 27/09/2011 06:45

Here is the second part of the thread ladies which is much needed because we chat fly so much Wink

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here )

Humungous thanks to our previous thread leader Blue for navigating us all through the August school holidays...and for doing it so consistently and well!!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. Some of us (SC stares at feet) -are even embarrassingly stuck at decluttering stage after two years

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

All newcomers welcome!

blimey PA! that's not the sort of independence you hope you're preparing them for!! poor lamb. did she not know what to do, do you think? or was she ignoring the signs and hoping it would go away? bless her. at least she knows now.

well, i've done my regular flying today, and am now going to disappear into the hell-hole that is my garage to do an overdue HOUR of sorting and throwing away. so my super-fling boogie Hmm if you will. just not in the living room.

Well, i got as far as 2pm and gave up but have done some more knitting. Burn out is going to hit tomo and rest of week I expect. Dust allergy, cold, overtraining, doing too much, not sleeping enough and an abscess are all going to demand their payback.

Tomo:
finish hall
put clothes away
double check removed stuff stuck in master bedroom whilst juggling furniture
bottom of stairs.
lounge
last bits of washing
pick mother up from airport.
project with urgent deadline!

ds is not going to training he is tired, i am tired. I cba to take him. I am also skipping my normal end of week training. At some point I need to admit to myself that I am not superwoman. preferably before I kill myself.

Night.
Catch up tomo. Although PA sounds like excitement is all go with you. poor dd2. cambodia wow.

Quick update before bed

  • Another CRB form to complete - I completed this one in June but supply agency have been dragging their feet so need to complete again done
  • Make lunch to take out with me. Main pain with this yeast intolerance is I can't just stop and buy a sandwich done I must admit SC its hard to eat something when you just fancy a slice of bread. Blush I'm managing but its hard work and I have had a few set backs.
  • Visit Supply agency with more ID to replace out of date ID (better find ID first) done
  • Swimming lesson done was actually really successful and enjoyable today which I wasn't expecting as I haven't been for a few weeks
  • Karate lesson for DD Done
  • Label suspension files and sort out paperwork to put in drawer Done
  • 30 mins on understairs mess done
  • 15 minutes in lounge - nope
  • 2 x washing loads - nope
  • tidy the bomb site that is the kitchen. Spoke to DH last night about him helping by washing pots if he has been left to make tea. Found out this morning he had chips and curry sauce and didn't even rinse the plate. I'm really hoping I can get the stain off the plate- done
  • Complete paperwork for interview on Friday. Downloaded it yesterday there are 7 files of stuff to fill in Started and completed half
  • Recycling done
  • Bins out tonight Done
  • Bath DD as school photos tomorrow (May delegate this one to DH) delegated

Will do individuals tomorrow.

would chapattis or tortillas have yeast? To use as wraps?
Or soda bread has no yeast, although I suppose it is quite doughy, though v nice with smoked salmon Grin

Makingchanges · 28/09/2011 22:46

Swan I have tried Soda bread. Not keen at all.

Have been having yeast free pancakes for breakfast instead of toast and wraps for lunch for sandwiches although i'm not sure if they have yeast or not. It doesn't say so on the packet. My problem is that I am a complete bread addict. I always have been.

Well DH has decided that he has work to do so time for individuals after all Hmm

PA - Glad that your plans are coming together, and hope that DD does start asking for help when needed.
CheerfulYank good luck on list
Ouch well done on productive morning. I hope you get some sleep.
Madwoman Yes I do get the feeling it would be easy to get dragged in. I will be careful but it does look like fun.
Nicknack hope you get letter confusion mixed up. Very heavy handed for a first letter.

I am Shock at all talk of cleaners on here. I think someone should share theirs with me. I would love a cleaner. I'm sure DH would love onetoo, she'd certainly be an improvement on the one (me) hes got now.

Oh my neighbour came around earlier with some parcels that had come whilst I was out. I suspect my winter boots (My birthday pressie to myself) and my Panniers (DHs pressie to me) think I may go and investigate.

Back tomorrow

Well, once I knew there was going to be no progress on the kitchen today, it was much easier to enjoy the sunshine!

Have achieved a few minor bits and bobs around the house and on the computer, and done Wii Zumba. Then spoilt the effect with a big helping of chocolate cake, but hey.

MC I had a quick google for yeast-free bread and there seem to be a few recipes. This one looks pretty straightforward.

PA glad your DD's OK, how exciting about Cambodia!

Baby-step no. 29 for Thurs 29th is here the important one about pampering!!

This week we are in the sitting room zone here

The mission for tomorrow will appear here once website updates itself

But here's a sneak peak at the missions left for this week. Can't believe how fast these weeks are whizzing by btw.

Thursday is grocery and errand day.

Have a good one!

OK - I went to bed but as someone in one of the apartments next door is having a loud (Wed night Confused) party, I've got up again ...

So what did you all get up to today?

Blue (who had an unexpected day off from kitchen fitters) enjoyed the sunshine, Zumba-ed, Wii-ed and ate chocolate cake Smile
MC surprised herself by how many tasks she was able to cross off her list at the end of the day Smile. (Hope the boots fit and that you can find some quick/easy alternatives to bread. I would find that v. hard too - love my toast. Agree tortilla could be good.)
Swan Beavered (geddit?) away at Brownies and despite being frantically busy, proved that life is not too short to stuff a mushroom
CheerfulYank (like this thread leader) was trying to force herself to Fly with the help of a few cups of tea and other distractions ...
Ouch battled against sleep deprivation, an abscess (Ouch indeed) a cold and a dust allergy but managed to knit nonetheless!
Madwoman exchanged a secret handshake with MC, Flew, and gave her garage the fling-boogie treatment (Sympathies re: The Answer. I think we are expected to have artfully arranged antiques in this dump here instead of 8 yr old sacks of plaster and building materials strewn about the place)
Toffee popped in to say hello Smile
PA popped in to tell us her amazing news about Cambodia (glad the interviews went well!!) and about a lesson hard learnt by her dd2 (good to hear she is OK now and although scary, I guess better to have learnt this particular lesson before you left the country!)
Nicknacks had a busy day with her mindees and received a threatening letter (grrrr on your behalf - completely over-the-top that - hope you receive an apology)
Linzer was thwarted in her quest for five child-free hrs and employed a nifty Fly motivation strategy. (Glad cleaner has worked out for you - despite intriguing cellar refusal. I feel guilty about hiring one but decided guilt preferable to cobwebs!)
Ellie was a good girl this morning Wink and has (hopefully) been enjoying the sunshine this afternoon
Rowingboat made a Les Dawson face, trimmed her phlox Wink and conquered a slime monster
Droitwich has been Flying quietly but effectively in the background despite having had a thoroughly tough time [look after yourself x]
Feetheart Flew, worked and made frantic Fayre preparations

There are car doors banging outside (thankfully) so think it's now safe to slide back under the duvet ...

Huge waves to anyone I've missed

Fuzzled - if you are reading this - hope you are OK X

Morning! Thank you all for your kind words yesterday. Am feeling better today than I have for a long time. Might even manage a Grin!

Have decided that things are getting vvv spooky on the fat fairy front. It was anti-procrastination day yesterday and I wrote that letter resigning from my secondment, and today is grocery day and I have just had my monthly tesco delivery. Am getting worried Biscuit

Doing well this morning. Beds are stripped, first load of washing is on the line, next is in the machine and the shopping has been delivered. Next on list is to put it all away then time for Brew

Morning all,

Glad you're feeling better today, DWM. I hadn't remembered that today was grocery day but, also rather spookily (although I didn't do any anti-procrastinating yesterday), have been out and done all my food shopping. Sadly no such luxuries as home delivery here and, with all the supermarkets on the small side, I had to go to three different ones to get what I needed - which took up exactly half the morning. Since then, I have been procrastinating. Blush

MC Hope you're enjoying the sunshine; we're having a lovely Indian summer here too (set to last until next week, apparently).

SC Thanks for the round-up; yes, I would choose guilt over cobwebs too! Am sure you won't regret it. Smile

DD1 due home any time now thanks to RE teacher being ill so must go and put the oven on for lunch. Luckily I haven't had to cook today as I made a lasagne a couple of days ago, but forgot to put it in the oven while I was teaching English and had to give the DC pizza instead as they were too hungry to wait.

Report
LinzerTorte · 29/09/2011 11:07

Have remembered I don't actually need to put the oven on as the lasagne is already cooked; the microwave will be much quicker. Smile

SC So sorry, I forgot to thank you for your kind words and lovely suggestions re cooking for my friend on the other thread. I'm still trying to work out how to get in touch with her (still can't text her), but may be in touch for your recipe.

Not disappeared again, honest, gov!!

Mad day. Day off - why does life always go wrong on my day off, when I plan to relax and enjoy a bit of "me "time?

Dad phoned this morning to say that mum was ill, I have spent today being taxi to DD3 for college (split day, so 3 trips so far, one to go), took the car to the garage. The car the garage lent me had zilch petrol, not enough to get home, so had to find somewhere in the remotest part of the island for some urgently, then up to parents to clean up rather a mess!!! Cook for my dad, who is useless!! and brought a load of washing home to do for him, gone back this afternoon to help a bit more and sort mum out again. I wish my dad wasn't so stubborn and would allow someone to come in and help him rather than him get to screaming/not coping point and it all be traumatic for everyone.
just in work now as I need to print stuff for a meeting tonight that I had not received in time for me to print when I was actually in work time, despite numerous naggings reminders.

I officially give up on expecting any "me" time ever again!!

Home to cook toad in the hole for family, collect DD3, check on parents again and get mum to bed, meeting tonight which could go on and on.....Oh there was my day off!!!

Tomorrow is another day and all that..........
