September Flegdgling Fliers - Part 2!

elliepac · 27/09/2011 06:45

Here is the second part of the thread ladies which is much needed because we chat fly so much Wink

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here )

Humungous thanks to our previous thread leader Blue for navigating us all through the August school holidays...and for doing it so consistently and well!!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. Some of us (SC stares at feet) -are even embarrassingly stuck at decluttering stage after two years

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

All newcomers welcome!

well, I've done a few things on my list

fishcakes done
pineapple sponge practically eaten
veg box paid
picked up trombone never again
burst into tears (well almost) when I realised that ds had left his Art homework behind (Dh spent most of Sunday helping him with it...)

bit of an afternoon from hell, not used to picking ds1 up by car, and won't ever again Shock as he kept us waiting in playground for at least 15 minutes, and ds2 lay down on a bench Blush dd screamed the whole way , fought in car there, etc etc. At least ds was relieved I had brought his Art book.

Had conversation with Head of Music who said he could practise in school, till his arm was stronger to carry trombone home by himself on the bus Grin

There doesn't seem to be any homework tonight, except Spanish which he says he's done.

Building plans have come back, but not quite what I want so will have to go over them with dh.

Glad SC your long weekend with giant koalas was a break from routine Smile Hope everyone recovers from our various ailments. Dd said she was nearly sick at lunchtime, and is certainly grumpy moo.

Yes, thank you too Swan - I had missed your post on the other thread. I am feeling much more positive today.

Thank you for excellent deputising Ellie and welcome back SC - glad you had a good break.

Not a lot happening here, DD had a meltdown at her tap class tonight, she only started last week so I hadn't bought shoes for her yet but had told her we would get some when we arrived tonight. They didn't have any in her size - disaster! Cue floods of tears and a refusal to wear her normal shoes which ended up with me threatening to cancel the tap class altogether, luckily she saw sense in the end.

I've shredded and run today, as well as been to work, and the ballet / tap run, needless to say not much Flying has happened, but there's always tomorrow (when I've got work, shred, school, Rainbows, oh and go out on the lash with my colleagues, so maybe not!).

OK finally got back on here. DD was so badly behaved and in such a horrible mood today that I almost hope that there is a (non-serious physical cause) Not really - but you know what I mean - so that there is at least some reason for her defiant explosions one minute followed by trembling lip the next. She's usually only like this when she is under too much pressure at school -but we have had four days off - so I am bewildered (and fed up).

Although as dh said tonight, as she is a mini-control freak, he is a control freak and I am a control freak - it doesn't always make for a happy combination Grin Heigh ho - tomorrow's another day and all that.

Anyway I have been watching the great british bake off in order to calm down [is that very sad? - probably] and my favourite contestant got voted off tonight. But generally enjoying the show (a) because it is good for a change to see real women on the telly, some of whom are of a certain age, who haven't been face-lifted or tarted up and are just themselves and lovely (b) I learnt that croissants as we know them apparently originated in Austria (not FRance) - please note Linzer!

Right here goes:

Tomorrow's step, the 28th, for Wed 28 Sept is here and one we should all try and do.

We are in the sitting room zone here this week.

The mission for tomorrow will appear here once the website updates itself.

But here's a sneak peak at all the missions for the week if you want to look ahead.

Wednesday is anti-procrastination day. Flylady devotes it to zone cleaning and partial desk time whatever all that means.

Right, life is crazy here and having spent the day out of the house I am now going to drink huge amounts of coffee and tackle the stuff that needs doing before the morning. Bin day here and there is a new system for recycling which I will probably end up spending the next 4 hours trying to figure out and prep for. Everything has to be washed out, labels removed some things that could be recycled now can't, lots of new things can be recycled, new bins and containers to go in and no idea what goes where

Right list for tomorrow:
Laundry
kitchen - DW, pots
folding and ironing
Hall - move and deal with large pile of laundry and recycling and contents of stuff evicted from car earlier, sort out kit storage.
Lounge - laundry, general mess, project work.
Landing- pile of doom
My room - few bits that have made it into the room but not put away, Laundry away.
Ensuite - clean up behind ds getting ready for bed Angry
Bathroom - pile of doom.

Its going to be a long day, tomorrow.

Thank you again to Ellie for thread-sitting and rounding up yesterday! [SC glugs Wine

Now, what have you all been up to today?

CNettle (glad the ball was fab btw) breakfasted on blueberries, rearranged furniture, cooked a scrumptious dinner and worked her way through a complex list that makes me feel tired just looking at it. [SC makes note to try blueberries for breakfast in future]. (It's only natural to feel disappointed at the thought of having to cancel holiday btw - not selfish at all - especially when you and your dh are working so hard. Hope it doesn't come to that though Sad.)
Nicknacks had a manic minding day with 3 mini-mindees
Whoknows averted a toe-tapping disaster
Blue is starting to see the light at the end of the kitchen cabinets
All is right with the world chez-Ellie thanks to a bit of focused Flying
Swan attended a pyramid of tins Harvest Festival, survived a taxing school run, transported a trombone and cooked absolutely delicious grub (Hope your dd not going down with something.)
Ihate sailed through an unexpected work appraisal (bravo!) and expertly navigated through an intricate list of tasks that again makes me tired just reading it!
Madwoman zoomed through her admin and then fast forwarded to baby-step no. 29
TheGrassisJewelled put down her tea-cup and joined the thread! Smile
Feetheart (owing to a poorly dd - glad she is feeling a bit better now) was forced to sit on her hands and delegate Autumn Fayre prep and Flew in a summer dress. (Now have image of Cath Kidston-clad bed-stripper Grin)
RowingBoat Flew in her head and her home, lunched with friends and pulled a scary face
Poor Oops was battling with a horrid virus (hope you feel better soon - SC hands over whisky, honey and hot lemon)
Ouch worked through a perfect Flying list and finished tackling the pile of doom
MC declared war on a paper mountain - a war she WILL win! [SC dispenses special fortifying glass of Wine)
Linzer made flashcards, wrestled with a dining room table, taught English before and after lunch and and in case she wasn't busy enough, invited a friend of her dd's over for the bit in between!

Going to post this bit and then look at previous thread and carry on ....

x posts Ouch

Sounds like your area has adopted the same recycling system we have over here. I found it v. complicated at first but got the hang of it eventually. The only problem now is visitors who (understandably) put everything in the wrong bins! Takes ages to sort them out afterwards.

There was an apocryphal story doing the rounds here that in order to recycle a tea bag correctly you needed to put:

  1. tea leaves on compost heap
  2. tea bag and outer sachet in paper recycling
  3. string in ordinary rubblish
  4. staple in metal recycling

CheerfulYank survived Monday Grin, Flew high, raked leaves, got ahead with baby-step no. 27 and was about to speed-read some library books and persuade her dh to do a bit of gentle gliding (Fat Fairy style) of an evening

Um, actually, I think that is everyone for today

But huge waves to Droitwich Pushme Toffee PA MissJ Messy AlicevanW Hattie Fuzzled (hope you are OK??) Brokenwingedflier Dizzy and everyone I've inevitably missed ...

Feetheart Grin at Boden design change. Or [anger] rather.
Speaking as one who is rather (er hem) large of nork I sympathise hugely with all nipple v dress bodice struggles ...

SC aah that's a very posh teabag, my teabags have no labels and are put straight on the camellias, from whence they came....Thanks

I am most annoyed, I have put an old radiator out on the street, after being assured by all and sundry that it would immediately be snatched up by roving scrap metal merchants. But unfortunately no-one has taken it, and it is bringing down the neighbourhood Blush Why don't they have metal recycling as well as tins?

Going to give up trying to go back to sleep and get up and get started on that huge list posted yesterday.

CBA is lurking though. And all I really want is to be able to go back to sleep and hide in bed. Anyone know where to get hold of housework fairies that can tackle the chaos whilst I do so?

thought not :( I guess I shall be getting a more on then. Arses.
