Do you shop at Lakeland?

And, if so, what are your favourite, or most useful (can't do without) items? The things I like are the My Kitchen baking tins, the foil even though it is so expensive, their packs of 10 food containers, the Quick Clips and Klippits, the freezer bags, Ovenmate cleaner and Ovenmate stainless steel spray. I also have the long handled dustpan and brush, their California dusters for floors, Microfibre mop and the fantastic Tap Adaptor. I am just about to place an order and am curious as to whether I'm missing out on something that could either save time or maker life easier!

Bag clips for definite. We have the magic oven liner and it's fantastic. Ditto the related baking tray liner, which we've even used for lining old non-stick frying pans which have started to stick.
There are things we couldn't do without that they no longer sell, like the woven fireproof oven mitts Coolskin gauntlets. And mesh pizza mats. Though both can be found directly-sold from other websites (linked), which I suspect is why Lakeland no longer have them.

Occasionally (like this week) I go onto the site to look at sale items, usually kooky stuff I've never heard of, and see if I can pick up a bargain.

My crazy impulse purchase was something called an aebleskiver pan - fantastic things for making spherical pancakes! They are selling them off as nobody seems to want them. Their loss!
(I got a pack of bisquick, and used a cup of it to 3/4 cup milk, and egg and a tablespoon of oil to make the batter. Took about 5 mins.) Then made the aebleskiver according to YouTube demo videos. If you have a horde of pancake-addicts (or just children) in your house, it's brilliant. You can put cheese, chocolate, jam, all sorts in the middle of them! Or just eat with jam and sugar as the Danes do. Or maple syrup. Or...

Wow, the pancake thing sounds great! I too have the magic liners and I agree they are fab. I am unsure about buying microfibre cloths from them as I'm not certain they'd be any better that the cheaper supermarket versions.

No, I avoid like the plague. overpriced stuff that no one really needs, PLUS its full of older middle aged women coooing and picking up 'Individual anti bacterial keyboard Wipes' or some such crapola

I was all in the mood for a no-spend July, and one hour before July starts, you go and remind me how great Lakeland stuff is.

Some stuff is overpriced, but they have great gadgets and they do stand by their products which I like.

I have the Magic oven liner Hook Ups , Easi-Yo , Loaf tin liners , and the only bra bag I could find for bigger sizes

Yeah I know what you mean cybboid but you def can't buy their e-cloth mops in tesco. But I do have a chuckle when I go in there. I mean for a start where do these people store this stuff?

Oh, yes! We are picnicers and caravaners/self-catering. The one cup coffee maker and mini salt and pepper mills. Genius.

Foil, clingfilm on a dispenser, jars when I'm in a preserving mood (did marmalade for Christmas pressies last year - I think most of my "jam kit" is from there too, but a lot given to me rather than bought new myself), my new laminate-floor microfibre mop is ace, and you can mock if you want but I finally have a clean kitchen floor!

I like looking around at all the weird gagetry too though, I mean how have I possibly lived to 32 without needing a wedding cake shaped cupcake tray, or a £500 food mixer Shock

Having said that when Mum & I went the other week, they had some great deals on and we got a good £30 worth of freebies (after dinner mints, casserole dish, cool bag, and 3-4-2 on baking trays and tupperware - well worth it if you're then sharing the stuff out between 2!!)

I'm wondering about getting DP a tagine pot for his birthday (he just got a tagine cookbook and is quite keen to have a go) but a bit distressed by the stripey/yellow/purple choices.

I've also got the magic oven liner.

And I've got the silicon baking liner too - cut it down to fit each of my favourite cake tins and backing trays...nothing sticks any more.

more votes for magic oven liner and klippets.

they sell the best garlic press in the world imo

and the jam making stuff is fab

i have a fab quality silicon loaf tin (not from lakeland) so i dont need any loaf tin liners.

they do sell a lot of stuff that one does not really need and you would need an industrial size kitchen to fit in all the useful gadgets they sell!

oh and i got a non stick liner mat thing in asda for £1. I got a few, cut them to size, much cheaper and as good IMO.
I wont make meringues or biscuits or homemade pizza without them ever again... even on my good quality non stick trays

(made of the same stuff that lines aga tins)

Those Devilish desserts in a carton-creme brulee
Easi-Yo, Fruit squirts for sauces and trifle, the passionfruit is gorg with cheesecake (not the Easi Yo one it's not veggie)
Easi Yo yoghurt and mousse
Astonish
Service engineer dishwasher and washing machine cleaner
Mesh door screen to keep the pesky flies out of my kitchen
A metal clothes hanger I've had for years to hang underwear and socks on.Can't find another one
Cupcake stand with a little star on top.
Christmas fleece blankets-one for each DC bed and one for sofa

Oh and I get ridiculously excited when the Christmas Catalogue
comes through my door in Sept.Reminds me of DS's first proper Christmas.....misty eyed sad bat emoticon

Ha ha - what have I started?! Thank you all - this has given me a giggle as lots of us are Lakeland Lovers! It's true, much of the stuff is gimmicky but the truly useful items are worth every penny. They have far more faithful followers than detractors (to each his/her own I say!) due to the quality of most of their products. I have been thinking about buying the fly screen too ... will have another look on the site at the reviews.

oh I forgot about the fly screen! We bought one with four sections, so you can push through. They don't do that any more, either, though there is a bamboo one quite similar in design.

OK Tia4 you have a lot to answer for with this thread. I just went and looked (for sentimental reasons!) at my file of my wedding list. There were a few things not got, one of them because it was discontinued about the same time.

I just googled, wondering if any were still out there, and found one! In the town I was born of all places! So my dad will have an errand to go and pick me one up. After seven years.

Can't believe it!

I love Lakeland. I call their catalogue the kitchen porn brochure. I have loads of Lakeland products. I agree that some of them are overpriced and a bit gimmicky, but their customer service is second to none, and that alone guarantees my loyalty.

I love the catalogues.
I don't like the new web-site but then I'm a creature of habit and find new things a pain.
The shop isn't really one I can "browse" in because unless I go for something specific I'd never find anything.Bluewater store, much bigger now,used to be weeney. But the staff are good.

Oh and one of my favourite buys is the little Porto Sipper glasses (with a thin glass tube) My DCs use them at Chritmas for Ribena

I love Lakeland. I buy my jam making stuff from there. Have just had an order delivered, including ship in a bottle kits in the sale for the boys to do during the holidays (they are fascinated by the ships in bottles in our local museum).

I have had their their barbecue plate holders for years - the ones that you put the paper plates in - friends are always borrowing them - they are brilliant

I like the bags that you put sauce/stock in because they are strong and stand up when you're trying to get the stuff in

love the licquorice

I also have an electric carpet sweeper

I sit and read their catalogues for ages

I have tried the licquorice but I find in the big bags it can get a bit dry. Also the strands are smaller than the Darryl Lea Soft Eating Liquorice in Sainsbo.
IMHO it has to be the original black stuff. I can eat a bag at a timeBlush

The soft nougat in chocolate is a bit tasty too...

My most favorite buy from Lakeland has to be my REMOSKA. I used the normal sized model everyday. I then was LUCKY enough to buy a Grand sized model wth a rack and a recipe book for the AMAZING price of £3 from a car boot sale. I gave my first Remska to my son and his wife and they also use it nearly every day. By the way the retail price of my car boot Remoska would have been about £135.

Easy-Leave food sheets.
They are brilliant for wrapping food in to freeze or for putting in-between layers of food in a box.
Nothing sticks to it!
