It's late I'm tired but the house is a tip!
I just have to get somethings done to make the rest of the week possible!
Tidy Kitchen
brush & wash floor
Fold clean clothes away
1 load of washing
Cheque to pay for DS's photos
Make plans for my week off work so I can make Christmas go more smoothly! Yippe!

Hope someone will pop on the thread soon! [hsad]

swanriver · 20/10/2010 09:42

hello all, did abscond to fledglings yest as my list wasn't very inspirational and entirely composed of complaints

TODAY
bad start - two kids in bed at 7.am dh in very grumpy mood
last night did not clear kitchen before going to bed as dh insisted I went upstairs at 9.30 (then we had a row Hmm so it would have been better to shine sink really Wink

children in good mood though Smile
and ds1 finally showing some interest in research and was typing out some project on a rap star

house complete tip after yesterday's paperwork blitz

done Grin
dropped off two applications two more to go
made batch of scones
fried some aubergines for peperonata/pasta sauce
made leek and potato soup
cooked two delicious dishes yest (casserole for kids today and yest, and stuffed mushrooms for dh's separate meal yestHmm
washing on
washing drying

need to do
recycling
more applications drop off
book aeroplane tickets for halfterm [aargh - so many problems with dates that have to keep waiting to decide whether to go or not]
rescue bedrooms - complete mess every one of them
sweep floor

wendy You are nearing the finish line and very organised. Dance display sounded charming.

Oh yes, and Eire great, parents a bit doddery/bossy [strange combo] fantastic scenery, and it is truly odd not to have to worry about kids'meals, laundry and travel arrangements for 48 hours. In balance nicer to have kids with me but I did feel FREE! But what was sweet was how their little (or not so little) faces lit up when I picked them up from school on Monday.

swanriver · 20/10/2010 13:55

done
dropped off another application to Hounslow (far away) and put on wrong bus on way back Angry
recycling
booked aeroplane tickets to eire for 27th-30th (dd orthodontic appt is bang in middle of half term so so annoying but won't get another for months so)
made flapjacks and choc cake to cheer up dh!
bought some dw tablets/bread

not done any cleaning except laundry
washing up mountain

now piano practice and lesson
then Beavers, Brownies (special event)
supper is last night's and soup.

swanriver · 20/10/2010 13:57

N>B[ahem]. Washing up mountain notdone

swanriver · 20/10/2010 14:11

yippee dh has just rung from hospital for results of biopsy to say he hasn't got pr. cancer! In fact the consultant said he was a medical mystery ConfusedGrin So another blood test in 5 months but happiness for five months at least Grin
so relieved for dh.

still have to do washing up though..

Nuttybear · 20/10/2010 17:49

Thanks nutty

Madmen now! hope you're recording it

Jas · 20/10/2010 23:18

Hi, nutty/swan/wendy Smile

I haven't left you, just busy.

I am marking my place to come back first thing. I have two days to get the house in order, then the weekend at my parents while dp pulls down the kitchen ceiling.....

and on Monday, I am getting a BRASND NEW combi boiler fitted, after 10 months with no hot waterGrinGrinGrin

Congrats on dps good news, swan. A huge relief for you bothSmile

Nuttybear · 21/10/2010 08:32

Morning SWAN JAS & WENDY BURRR! Cold this morning, frost. I have found Ds's hat gloves and scarve and we are off to school. How long do you think it will take him to lose them?! [hsmile]

OP posts:
Jas · 21/10/2010 09:21

MorningSmile

First job of the day is to go up into the loft and see if I can find any gloves and hats. We have two pairs of gloves and one hat at the moment between five of us!

swanriver · 21/10/2010 09:26

I'm buying a bale of black gloves/hats today Grin pink gloves seem to dominate here, ds2 went to school yest with one small pink and one small cream glove which he had found for himselfBlush

lots of errands
feeling ill today [not alcohol!), have taken pills Smile and coffee, very late evening yest with Brownie 100 year celebration, spiders making in Beavers, and Madmen.
House still a total mess, will try and focus on steady rescuing, and then clean tomorrow for halfterm.

nearly at end of long SS application haul..making final online choice today. It is amazing how one's opinions change over the two months of visiting - in the end it's just a case of..I'm fed up, that school will be fine...go for it...and if he doesn't get in there, the second school will be fine too...and the third too...so ha!!!

Dh in good mood, not surprisingly, but has to be kicked to remind him that he is not allowed to be GRUMPY and DOWNBEAT for at least five months

swanriver · 21/10/2010 09:28

I have the loft bag of "winterwear" but it seems to be lacking anything schooly.

swanriver · 21/10/2010 09:33

no hot water for 10 months! Did you have an immersion? Shock
I remember watching that play called Steaming by Nell Dunn(sp)and realising that in the old days people used the Public Swimming Baths for hot water washing as well as swimming, when they had no bathrooms. It was a v. important civic amenity.
They are trying to close ours down Sad Edwardian.

rambling! must go!

SimplySparkling · 21/10/2010 09:33

Hello to all. Sorry that I'm so irregular with my posts. I used to pop onto MN with I was having a cup of tea and then I got into playing chess on the PC and now I'm addicted to playing patience on the PC. Blush

swan Excellent news! I'm very pleased for you. Smile

Jas I can tell that you're really looking forward to the new boiler and the prospect of hot water on tap soon!

Nuttybear Thanks for the thread.

Hi Wendy.

I'm going to sign off and get cracking. It's 9.30am and I'm not even dressed! This time yeseterday I'd breakfasted, dressed, taken the car to the garage for 8.30 and walked the dog the 2 miles home! Not good news on the car front. It's old and the parts we need for it to pass the MOT will be around £500. I've taken books out of the library to help me with teaching ds to drive. I'd better start reading them as he'll be 17 in a fortnight. Yikes.

swanriver · 21/10/2010 09:37

Simply you are a kind mother preparing ds to drive. My brother learnt in a field when he was 14 (by stealth) but I was considered to be too inept for lessons at 17, and it took 15 years to pass from age of 22.

funtimewincies · 21/10/2010 09:49

Sorry, sorry, erm...the cat ate my homework Blush!

Fabulous news swan Grin.

Db and dsil are coming to stay on Saturday and so I need to tidy. Ds2 was awake most of last night with teething so I'm on my knees this morning Sad.

Blitz kitchen and clean floor done
Hoover and dust lounge done
Buy and fit new toilet seat (broken by my 3 year old messing about) done
Dust and hoover stairs and banisters
Dust and hoover children's bedrooms
Blitz our bedroom ready for guests (dsil is pg, so they've having our bed)
Pop to the supermarket for stuff
Wash towels
Wash school uniform
Wash nappies done
Declutter random piles of paper done
Phone decorator about kitchen
Wash car seat covers for dsil
Sort out baby stuff to give to dsil
Clean bathroom and downstairs loo

I'll stop now, as I'm depressing myself Sad.

Nuttybear · 21/10/2010 09:56

Morning again I've had a mince pie and tea and have now got out my Christmas Journal. Thank you Jas for your tips. Wallace & Gromit stamps will look great. (out 2nd Nov for everyone else) I can't beleive that I didn't write in what I finally got for a friends!Shockor final receipes for Christmas Day. I've lost the photo of the table setting that looked fab! I promise to put down a few lines over the Christmas Hols to remember what worked and what did not!
So My two Christmas tasks for today will be find out which Panto we are going to go to and fix it with DH & friends this weekend.
2 Go around the house looking for Christmas wrapping paer & cards left over from last year! [hgrin]
We normally go to Winchester for the Christmas carols but the family we normally stay with are getting a divorce Shock (Nothing to do with us honest (well! I don't think so!!!))
Would love to keep the tradition but we don't have anyone to babysit our boy for the evening bits Sad & not sure about the cost of a hotel either.
Back in a mo with todays proper list

OP posts:
funtimewincies · 21/10/2010 10:01

Arggghhh, Christmas

I have SO not started yet Blush.

swanriver · 21/10/2010 10:32

you're ahead fun if downstairs and loo seat done!

have printed out something
found parking vouchers to reapply for
changed printer ink again Hmm
really wrestling with the online scanning thingy, now going to deliver hard copy with printout of online application

paperwork in drawer is getting more and more horrendous - piles of statistics knocking up against paediatric physiotherapy knocking up against baptismal certs, open day invites - the gas man will be lucky if he gets anything at this rate.

going Out.

Jas · 21/10/2010 10:57

swan - No immersion eitherSad We've had various solutions, which do include me using the showers at the swimming pool once a week while the dds have their lessonsBlush.

I have hats, gloves and scarvesGrin

And the shed is tidied so I can move some of the stuff from the kitchen into it so the work men can have access on Monday.

Nuttybear · 21/10/2010 11:26

OP posts:
Nuttybear · 21/10/2010 11:30

Jas When I was a kid we didn't have hot water for 2 years (long story) I used to heat metal buckets on the stove and carry them at arms length to the bathroom to wash Brother Sister and me. The bottom of the bucket used to be red hot. I had beautiful arm muscles! I also nearly killed my dad when I tried to hit him on the head with a cast iron frying pan when he went to heat water for a shave! That's why I'm so good with prisoners for DV! Hmm

OP posts:
wendyhappysmile · 21/10/2010 12:35

Hi all. Nice to see the thread populated again.

I'm shattered, went out for my mum's birthday last night, show and meal - didn't get to bed til after midnight Shock. Result: everything aches - pelvis, bump, legs ... very tired!

Poor dd isn't having much success persuading me to play shops, I can barely move so have sat at computer instead Blush - must rouse myself.

Been up to Mum's house this morning after visiting the florist. We are out AGAIN for tea with kids and my parents to celebrate her birthday.

See you tomorrow
