I feel tempted, but don't want to be the first

my fire is on and has been for about an hour, heating has been coming on for half an hour at about 8pm and 6am for the last couple of nights

peggotty · 24/09/2010 20:00

Oh yes. None of this competitive non-heating for me. Bollocks to it.

ja9 · 24/09/2010 20:10

yes here too.

brrrr.

4plus1 · 24/09/2010 20:11

Yes all week and just fired up the woodburner tonight. So cosy

usualsuspect · 24/09/2010 20:11

yes

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 24/09/2010 20:13

Oh yes.

Burner has been lit all day.

countydurhamlass · 24/09/2010 20:19

i am trying not to get the house too hot otherwise my body gets too used to it and then i have to have the house hot all winter, just taking the chill off and making it warm. intend on slowly increasing the amount of time the heating is on to save a little money

nancydrewrocked · 24/09/2010 20:20

Yes all week (and the occassional day in August Blush )

KatyMac · 24/09/2010 20:22

Me too

Lit the wood burner & now have glowing radiators

ChilledChick2 · 24/09/2010 22:58

Not yet. My DC are still charging about outside in t-shirts and running in looking for ice-pops. TBH I haven't really felt cold enough to put it on (have noticed more of a chill in the wind though). It makes me wonder if our kids actually feel the cold.

funkychunkymunky · 24/09/2010 22:59

Been on all week Grin

Bunbaker · 24/09/2010 23:00

Today is the first day we have had the central heating on since May. I have used the gas fire a couple of times recently though.

fairybubbles · 25/09/2010 08:17

ours has been on for an hour in the morning the last few weeks. its frosty here this morning and the house temp dropped to 17d. I don't really like it on in the evenings yet, i prefer to sleep in a cool-ish room with extra blankets.

Yes this morning was the first morning we put it on, the DDS were moaning it was cold.

One thing we do not scrimp on is heating, we don't have it sub tropical and t-shirts in the Winter but we try to have it nice for the DC. When I was growing up my parents were always turning the heating off, we had a cold house with damp on the walls, sometimes had condensation running down the walls in our bedrooms, wallpaper peeling and mould growing on the walls. My parents wasted money yet wouldn't heat the house properly so it's kind of a bugbear of mine now to live in a nice warm house.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 25/09/2010 08:31

Ours just got turned on.

TooTiredtoGoogle · 25/09/2010 12:36

I did succumb and turned it on for an hour this morning. Now feeling very guilty because it's turning out to be like a summer's day here (in N London)! All windows opened, washing hung outside and me in a T-shirt!

Definitely, it's been on sporadically for a while. This evening I've lit a fire and it smells delicious.

nickschick · 25/09/2010 19:20

Just flicked the swithch a few seconds ago ...winters on its way ....also dug out my woolly hat (for outdoors obv Grin)

Schroeder · 25/09/2010 19:36

Sad My boiler is broken, so no heating for us.

Rockbird · 25/09/2010 19:37

It was on yesterday for an hour and have just put it on now to take the edge off. No more than that though. It's two jumpers and a slanket this winter!

stripeywoollenhat · 25/09/2010 19:55

yes. my birthday was yesterday, i always think it's legit to turn on the heating after my birthday... especially now that i'm getting old...

maxpower · 25/09/2010 20:03

put it on about an hour ago

lizziemun · 25/09/2010 20:20

Yes and No.

Only because DH is home and he keeps putting the heating on and I keep turning it off as it's to hot.

While he can't just put on a jumper on if he cold.

BrokenRing · 25/09/2010 22:23

On for an hour mid-evening a couple of nights ago, and on for an hour this morning to dry off some last-minute clothes a DC needs to take away to uni tomorrow. We're trying to avoid it as long as we can, to save.
