Right I have a busy day. DD wants to go on a tram, but really only place to go is town or Meadowhall and I have neither the money or the patience to spend amy more time in Meadowhall after last week. I have therefore decided it is a housework day. DD is either going to play with her friends (Who she has only played with once in a week as she has been out every day) or watch one of her new box set Dora dvds.

Jobs to do

  • Rewash clothes in washer Blush
  • Wash gym clothes and then towels
  • Dry clothes then fold and put away rather than dumping in spare room with door closed
  • Sort out book pile on computer table
  • Sort out pile of papers, magazines, folders and notebooks on top of filing system - find somewhere for them to live
  • take a black bag to bedroom and ruthlessly sort through bags, boxes and magazines
  • Clean out toiletries in bathrooms and good cleaning of bath, sinks and loos
  • fing more clothes hangers for pile of dresses DD has that are currently hanging on the treadmill rather than in wardrobe
  • Sort pile of clothes that are in pile on chest at top of stairs (then teach DH this is not where clothes live!!)
  • Clear kitchen side
  • Print out holiday photos and put in frames ready to be hung in DDs room
  • Shops for food
  • Cook tea - Cottage pie for DH and DD, Salmon and Jacket Potato for me
  • Menu plan for week

Best get on and see how much I an get through

When I get off Mumsnet I am going to hoover living room and clean the bathroom

Washing is out already and fingers crossed that the rain stays away.

Just got back from hols and I have no washing to do as I did it all there and it dried in seconds!

Makingchanges · 16/08/2010 10:54

Ruby I wish I was alone. DD is annoying me already. Cleaning put on hold whilst I make elephant and tiger glasses. DD helped for about 5 minutes then got bored.

Collision you are very organised to do washing whilst you are on holiday.

just got in from work....

Not sure what I have let myself in for....LOTS of ward politics (Holby City eat you heart out LOL)can't quite get my head round it Confused
All moving to new unit in 2 weeks...so everything (except patients!) packed in boxes....Also lots of stress about recently announced funding cuts for other teams and the knock on effect for this team....Everyone massively stressed.....world's grumpiest secretary...and clinical director has just resigned...Hmm
On the plus side not many patients in at the moment so I have not too much to do just yet...

Have massive headache now, and still trying tofinalise hours and out of school care...feeling a bit overwhelemed but am sure it will get better...
Roll on Friday...!

Not flying today...too stressed. DH on dinner duty...other than that will do basics only...

BB for individuals when headache gone...

Makingchanges · 16/08/2010 15:59

Oh OFM I'm sure it will sort itself out, sounds like its just a bad time to be joining a team with added stresses. Hopefully by the time they have moved you will be feeling better and they will be less stressed.

Not done nearly enough today - DDs friends not about and she is being clingy. I have had to watch her films with her, first Dumbo (although she got upset by Dumbos mum being locked up) and now Tinkerbell. Did manage to get to shops but took ages as she wouldn't go to big shops in car so had to walk across, meaning less shopping so I still have big shop to do, it'll wait for another day.

Update so I can get focused

Morning all

Two loads of washing done so far but really need to catch up on what was missed yesterday. An hour was spent comforting DD who had sudden onset earache - for it to go off just as sudden Hmm

DD is at a friends house this afternoon and I have a houseful this morning but there is still hope

MC hope you had a good child free afternoon!

ruby yes, first days always a challenge!Good luck with the guests

well, second day at work not so bad....most of kids out on trip so very quiet on the unit...Spent much time in nursing office drinking coffe being filled in on all the ward politics and gossip Wink LOL

I have also finalised my timetable (hopefully!) just waiting for final approval by consultant...and tbh if she asks me to swap hours/days round again think I may tell her to get stuffed Hmm LOL

Have changed ds hours at nursery and been to visit and put other dc names down for after school club, where they will go on a Weds....

Took ds for second nursery visit. He got REALLY upset again after about 20 mins Sad
More visits planned over next 10 days...but if he's still getting upset after that don't know what I'll do Sad

Anyway..just counting down the hours till the weekend LOL

HEllo all.

not been around much this summer as had sis and family visit, then we went off on holiday. We got back late tues night

OFM how old is ds (the one settling at nursery) am sure he will be fine soon it takes a while for them to get used to it. Glad you enjoyed your second day at work Smile. As MC says I'd enter the 5k race and run as much as you feel able.

Maamruby sounds a lovely idea for using up dc's baby clothes Smile

My car broke down yesterday- thank god it didn't go a day sooner as I would have been in France. As luck had it I was a five min walk from home when it went. So I sent it off to the garage while I walked dc home. They have now gone to their dads.

I need to catch up with the washing etc from our holiday today, before we go away again next week. WE are off to stay at my sisters, as my other sis had her baby while we were on holiday so will be going to give my new nephew lots and lots of cuddles ( as well as the neices/ nephews I already had Grin)

done so far
loads of washing loads in and out
tidied living room
hoovered downstairs
washed up
sorted out veggies picked from the garden into the fridge

to do;
sort dry washing
iron
unload washer
reload washer
strip dc beds
lunch
dinner

With the mountain pile of ironing I have that will prob be all I manage today.

BBLx

Makingchanges · 19/08/2010 16:42

Dyls baby cuddles sounds lovely. It will be lovely to catch up with family I'm sure.

Ruby Quilt sounds like a good idea. I wish I could sew you guys always make lovely things. I struggle to put buttons back on and resort to MIL for any other alterations.

Well DH is laid up on the settee with his knee in ice on and off but not wanting to move much so I managed to make it to the gym. Managed my 6K circuit in 25 1/2 minutes today but it really took it out of me. Think i'm going to restart my couch to 5k now I've changed my running style as over 1 min and I'm beat.

Been to shops and done shopping for week and took DD to park so DH could have some child free time. Also managed some washing

Now i'm off to make tea. Chilli and rice and garlic bread. Firm favourite in our house so should please everyone then back to the books tonight.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day. I realised whilst watching DD at the park that she starts reception 2 weeks today - Felt quite sad about it, she doesn't seem a baby anymore

dyls lovely to "see" you again! glad you've been having fun. New neices/nephews are so lovely Grin
DS2 is 2 and 5 months. He's finding it hard bless him...

mc well done at the gym. I love the couch to 5K programme. Havent followed it exactly but stuck to general idea and can't believe how quickly myfitness has improved!
Am going to sign up for 5K run I think...would be great feeling to get to end LOL

Survived long day at work..yay!
Day off tomorrow...so am having glass (or 2!) of wine!
Feel like I've alot to get my head round...but feeling more positive about the whole work situation...

Have another nursery visit with ds tomorrow...
here's hoping for less tears!

right...off to watch Nanny McPhee with the girls...(LOVE that film...must get the second one!)

BBtomorrowGrin

Makingchanges · 19/08/2010 19:58

OFM I'm crossing my fingers for a more positive nursery visit for you tomorrow. Managed upto 1/2 way through week 4 of couch to 5k last time before my injuries. Send some wine this way. Somehow I forgot that from my shopping list.

Off to put DD to bed then uni books out. Must crack on with the houework tomorrow

OP posts:
dylsmum1998 · 19/08/2010 21:08

MC it will be lovely to catch up with family, we (my sisters and I) chat regularly on facebook/ phone but is not the same as seeing themand having a real conversation, and of course whilst can see lovely pics of nieces/nephews on facebook its not the same as cuddling/playing with them. I must get some uni books out soon too. Also need to try and resolve the childcare issues I am having.

OFM bless ds hope you have a better nursery visit tomorrow.

Managed to finish my list with a whole afternoon ironing Hmm. Also got the car back all fixed, cost £70 though Sad that was money for days out next week with dsiss so now need to think of alternative days out while we visit.

Need to go and pay the elec bill before I forget again have had a rather arsey sounding reminder while we were away as forgot to pay before we left Hmm

dylsmum1998 · 20/08/2010 10:39

morning all. hope you are all off having fun.

Makingchanges · 20/08/2010 11:17

Oh Dyls busy day. Hope it is productive for you.

I am playing nursemaid for DH - He is annoying me as he is still in bed. The doctor said to keep pottering around. I think he is avoiding watching nick jr with DD and being dragged into her game of doctor.

So far today

  • Washing
  • Cleaned kitchen
  • Wrote a book review for uni
  • Posted links on uni facebook page for vital pre-course work
  • Filled in diary with dates / appointments etc

To Do

  • Take GP for new bed
  • Take friend for a walk or afternoon cake (depending on weather) - she needs cheering up after crashing her car
  • More uni work
  • More washing
  • Sort under stairs - this is to be my uni work area but is currently piled up with rubbish
  • Give DD a bath
  • Cook something for tea
  • Shop for some ink for printer
  • Respond to DHs every need even though hes perfectly capable and try not to kill him
  • Get a run in somewhere and somehow

MC your day sounds busier and I have no children home/ or hubby to need help. had to read your first item on your list twice as I thought you were taking your doc to buy a new bed, then realised you mean grandparent Blush

I just can't be bothered to do anything.
Have been and had my hair done and eyebrows waxed. Am really pleased witht he results.
Have then come home had lunch and sat on my bum reda urgent messages on facebook and important threads on here Grin

I am going ot get up now and do something about my kitchen as it looks awful

scattyspice · 20/08/2010 15:18

Hi all. Have been in Birmingham visiting Mum and relatives this week. Had a good time (including solo shop trip into Bull ring Smile), very difficult driving so far on my own with the kids though. Also DD back to her insomniac ways Angry.

Today Dc gone to friends and I have been paying bills and sorting out/buying school uniforms.

MC Its very weird when they start school isn't it? DD started last yr.

OFM Sounds like a week of highs and lows at work. I am very impressed with you. Hope ds gets the hang of it soon.

ruby Are the holidays flying by too fast for you too? I am loving being off work Hmm.

dylsmum1998 · 20/08/2010 16:26

Scatty a solo shop trip- whats that Wink. glad you enjoyed it.

why can't I get motivated at all. I have managed to collect everything up that doesn't belong in the kitchen and stuff it in an empty wash basket and hoover the kitchen floor. now instead of putting hoover away, washing floor, cleaning sides etc. I'm back om here??

OverflowingMum · 20/08/2010 18:04

evening all

scatty week away sounds good...yay for solo shopping trip! and yes lots of ups and downs at work LOL

dyls mc you both sound busy and productive!

day off today...which actually seemed more stresful than going to work Hmm

DC all in absolutely shocking mood.House in total chaos. DH in even more shocking mood and exhausted form having the dc while I've been at work....not good!

Nursery visit with ds this afternoon..challenging ! He got REALLY upset ..again...soI went back in to him after about 20 mins....but did then leave him again..and he was better...reistant to megoing, but quickly calmed down, then lasted an hour sat on member of staff's lap reading books!Seemed more relaxed when I went back in to get him...so that's good...
I hate seeing him sobbing "no go mommy" though...Sad

Feeling quite frayed and emotionally worn outnow...sigh...
Have migraine headache brewing too...have given up idea of a run today...Hmm

Off to BBQ at my sister's tomorrow...so that should be fun....

Early night tonight I think...

Oh dear ruby wet camping is hard work!

OFM hope you had chance to relax a little today Hmm.

dyl I am having a motivational slump too Hmm.

Woke with a throbbing headache today Sad. Struggled through family outing to ds swim lesson and town (to buy clothes for dc). Followed by family outing to the park. Had a little snooze after all that and fealing better now Smile. Luckily Dh missed the kids (and me I hope) so much when we were in Birmingham that he is being super dad at the mo Smile.
