Anyone else love front doors?

Does anyone else have a thing for front doors? I just love looking at front doors, sounds random but I love architecture and interior design, my favourite would be a Victorian timber door, especially in pretty colours. I’d love to have a Victorian house worthy of a beautiful stained glass front door but alas we live in a 1970s build and it wouldn’t look quite right. I follow Gelata doors on instagram and they post some beautiful doors like this one 😍 Just wondered if anyone else is like this or just me?

the glass & cast iron doors that are much more common in the US

Surely not cast iron? That would rust. Wrought iron?

I live in a 1930s semi-detached that still has its original stained glass half side panels (door in middle), unfortunately we were flooded back in 2007 but I insisted on a solid oak triple glazed stained glass door as the replacement door - still love it 18 years later.

Your door sounds immense! Do you have pics? Is it natural wood or painted?

Yes! I love period properties (Edwardian especially, which gratefully is my property) and this front door is gorgeous!

It’s none of my business how others decorate their homes but I always find it disappointing when people remove doors with character to put up those more modern dark grey doors.

I like front doors as well as architectural features and building materials. I’ve been known to sneak out under cover of darkness to acquire random bricks I’ve seen abandoned. I also like street furniture like postboxes etc. we had the glass replaced in our front door when we moved here to a London Victorian terrace. It was completely plain and is now glorious, traditional stained glass. People often assume it’s original.

I’m really obsessed with front doors at the moment as I’m having to replace the glass in mine and two side panels. I’m thinking etched glass or a cut glass design. Any suggestions of where to get it made appreciated!

Is it double glazed? Our ugly uPVC door and side light have Pilkington obscured glass daisy pattern. One of my cheaper ideas is to replace with clear glass so that I can then use window film. There are so many pretty window films I could change it up when I feel like it! Currently love reeded glass. But I also have plans for this one on my shed window:

I love a beautiful or interesting door. I get intrigued just what may be behind it. My favourite pastime. My camera roll is full of doors

@KimWexlerGoodman I like that naturey film. Here’s my front door before and after

A company called “Art of Glass” repaired some our cracked stained glass they are based in Penge South East London might be useful if anyone looking to restore/replace also a reclaimed door stockist “dulwich reclamation” shop in Kirkdale just off Sydenham High Street.

Sorry to be the Dolly downer on your thread, but it appeared on my "featured".

I am the ex spouse of a door lover. Note ex.

He used to annoy the hell out of me on holidays by stopping to admire doors. I remember one holiday in Italy where we were late for where we needed to be solely because he couldn't stop stopping. The photo collection when we got back was more of doors than the major sites or the beautiful scenery.

Fill your boots on solo holidays. But please box your love of doors up when with others.

Is he single! 😂

I have photo albums on my phone devoted to front doors, with a subsection for front doors at Christmas.........

Love this!

You can’t beat a gorgeous door with a gorgeous Christmas wreath on it! Where I used to live there were plenty of doors like this so I too have a dedicated folder of photos of the doors and Christmas wreaths just of that area. I intended to make it into a Christmas card on moonpig or something, but wasn’t sure if recipients would share my appreciation!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The door love was one of the many many many faults I wouldn't wish on another female. I pity the woman he's engaged to.

I love a nice front door and want a Gelatta door when we do our extension in the next few years. I originally wanted a reclaimed one but then saw theirs and fell in love. My current front door is just an 80s upvc job, was faded red as it faces south but I painted it a sunny yellow and love it so much. We get loads of comments from friends when I post photos of it when I show new door wreaths

We just treat it with oil/varnish every few years, it’s inside our porch so doesn’t get any weather on it.
I can only find this pic taken from inside our hallway when we were selling a coat stand! But it sort of shows the door and the original side panels.

That looks like a very good quality, very solid door, good choice!

I liked with my house as soon as I saw the front door. It's an original 1930s front door with 3 vertical panels and a stained glass sun ray pattern window at the top. It's the only reason I've not enclosed the outer porch.
If I did create an outer porch I would get a door like this to fill the arch. I like the way the door works with the arch and the glazed sections are circular

Omg I love love love that 30s sun ray pattern. I grew up in a 30s semi with original stained glass but it wasn’t so gorgeous as sun ray.
