I was very close today to ordering Karndean flooring for most of my house ground floor, But I have looked at Trustpilot and am now very nervous about it. There are lots of poor reviews of it wearing badly or showing scratches. I then looked at Amtico and found similar poor reviews. `I'm shocked and very confused. My parents had Amtico in their kitchen and it still looked good after 35years!!! WHat experience have others had of these please?

We put amtico down in pretty much our whole downstairs (but not the kitchen) about three years ago. I am still very happy with it. We’re the type of family that is heavy on things, especially flooring, and it looks like new.

I've had Karndean flooring for years and it still looks really good - the odd little scratch if you look really close but that's all. When people mention problems with bubbles and lifting, I think that's probably down to how well it was installed in the first place. Our fitter was meticulous about laying it on a perfectly flat surface. I have a friend who has somebody fit the same product very cheaply and it looks crap. So do your research...

Karndean is brilliant if you have it fitted properly and you dont use the basic knight tile range. All the thicker ranges are excellent and i have used in over the last 20 yrs in many houses. Bombproof stuff, from memory van gogh range was good.

I should say we also have it in the hallway and it is good as new there.

Ours is in the hallway, with two big dogs and a husband who forgets to remove his shoes sometimes it's been brilliant. It's very pale Scandinavian.

However, we did have it fitted by registered dealers, took nearly three days.

A friend has said hers has faded in the sun, I don't know a cure for that even carpets can fade under those conditions if they're dark

Have it in my bathrooms. Been 7 years. Still going strong

Ours is throughout the downstairs apartment from one room. We have underfloor heating in the kitchen and living room. Laid 17 years ago when pregnant with my 2nd and apart from the odd small scratch or dent (heavy furniture moved e.g. fridge) which you can only see if you look for it we have been really pleased. Laid by a registered fitter and we have always used furniture pads on our dining room chairs, table and living room furniture. I think if you look after it then it will last.

I have Karndean in two bathrooms and the kitchen, and it still looks new. They were done at different times, the oldest is probably 12 years old.

It’s pretend marble rather than imitation wood - I don’t know if that makes any difference.

We had karndean art select (or something like that) in a sunny kitchen, wood effect boards, it has shrunk away from itself really badly in the sunny areas. There are big gaps between boards. I wouldn’t have it again

As you can see from the responses here people either absolutely love it or absolutely hate it. I had the same problem when trying to decide what to get in our new house and the bad reviews were just too bad so I ended up going with a combination of concrete tiles and engineered hardwood. Here's hoping it stands up!

We did have some cheap lvt in our last house that was absolutely indestructible but it looked very cheap and plastic like, peeled off the floor in places, etc etc.
