In the middle of house renovation. A few rooms nearing completion so need to think about furnishing them - on a budget!

Looking for really good quality but can’t afford new so best bet is gumtree/eBay or the like.

Any makes/manufacturers you would def recommend? Would happily get them reupholstered if I didn’t like fabric.

Many thanks in advance.

Honestly I’d still go to Ikea even if someone gave me 10 grand for a sofa. Good quality, good choice, washable and well priced.

Absolutely this.

We have a 16 year old 3 seater Ektrop and 2 seater Ektorp sofa bed. Have spare covers for them and all the covers are a bit shabby and sun bleached now. Also 2 DC have jumped, vomited, drawn, etc on them for 15 years.

DH got a leather armchair that cost more than the 2 sofas, it's absolutely knackered.

@Oopswediditagain2023 I'm looking at the e Vimle now and it's lovely - but rated soft? How would you assess it? I've currently got super comfy Next sofas from 15 years ago but the upholstery is KNACKERED and plucked.

And are Tetrad all feather? There's an outlet driveable from me so I'm tempted but don't want the shabby look. My teen son wants a properly modern but they look like cardboard !

I bought a new Parker Knoll electric reclining sofa last summer in a sale it was still 1.2k but full price was 3.5K. It’s very comfortable but I’m sure some must pop up second hand. I gave away our old sofa, we had it made by a local firm sadly shut down now after 20 years and having the house decorated we treated ourselves. The young just setting up home couple that we gave it to for free were delighted.

I love it - we got the three seater and a two seater and they're actually still pretty firm but we've only had them for 3 weeks. We watched a few youtube reviews of them and they also said they were quite firm (the Ektorp we had before was way too soft and caused us both back issues if we spent too long sitting on it!)

Ive had a tetrad for over 15 years with a sprung seat so no plumping of cushions - would buy again.
