Curtain colour to go with sage green walls

In the process of decorating living room. It is currently a bland cream colour but we have decided to go with sage green.
Out sofas are a beige cream which we are keeping, and floor is medium oak. We are not good at mixing colours. DH thinks green curtains
In a darker shade than the sage but I'm not sure. Was considering a silver grey but not sure would go with walls and sofas.
Any suggestions welcome

I would probably go neutral curtains if had the sage green colour on the walls - either cream or grey.

RallySooney · 20/10/2021 14:52

Would you consider a soft pink or even a terracotta colour in the curtains? These colours could also be picked up in the cushions.

mrsevangelina · 20/10/2021 14:53

I think cream/neutral curtains

Honeyroar · 20/10/2021 14:55

Similar to you sofas would work well. Or cream. And cream/beige lampshades. Too much sage and it gets dark/depressing (and I’ve got a sage room!)

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 20/10/2021 14:59

I have burnt orange it looks amazing. And orange accessories, just adds that much needed colour.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 20/10/2021 15:00

My living room is sage green and you definitely need colour in winter, I have a burnt orange sofa blanket too and cushions.

RestingPandaFace · 20/10/2021 15:04

I wouldn’t put grey curtains because of the beige sofa. Forest green would be nice if the room is light, or a warm neutral that tones with the sofa, possibly even a print or maybe a dusky pink depending what you’re doing with accessories.

kellysi · 20/10/2021 15:22

Thanks for replies sofa leans more to cream than beige if that helps.
And I know orange goes with sage green, but we don't like orange or terracottaca tones. Room is bright sunny room. cream neutral curtains would be good but sofa has to sit in front of window, ust wondering if cream sofa and curtains too close together ?

No I don’t think the sofa in front of the window and cream curtains would be too much. You can add in green cushions or throws to bring the sage in too.

Something like these? I'd steer away from silver/grey, as I don't like it with cream.

My tip is to go onto a paint website (eg farrow and ball), find the shade that matches your walls then look at their recommended schemes.

steppemum · 20/10/2021 15:29

well, I find all plains a bit boring, so I would probably find some leafy design fabric with the right green on them on a cream background

I like these but not to everyone's taste

Agree with burnt orange or dusk pink then soft accessories to pick up this accent colour. Definitely not beige or cream - it needs a third colour in the mix.

Dusky pink would be beautiful and warm.

Shmithecat2 · 20/10/2021 15:50

I've got a lampshade in this fabric, and I'm going to have curtains or blinds made out of it for one of the rooms in our new house. Not sure which room yet, but it's happening!

SwedishEdith · 20/10/2021 20:13

I'd definitely go for a pattern/design on a cream background. Plain colours just end up looking like another wall.

I have pale green walls in the bedroom (north facing) with floorboards stained walnut and a fair amount of oyster paintwork and white celings. The curtains (which we had from the vendors) are a chestnut brown with a subtle golden/fawn stripe. They look really good with the colour scheme and I probably wouldn't have thought of it myself had they not already been there. Cosy at night and gloomy winter afternoons as well.

cluecu · 21/10/2021 18:54

The house we've moved into has a sagey greeny lounge and we've gone with blush pink curtains - looks really nice Smile

steppemum · 21/10/2021 23:38

The sage green bedspread in MiniTheMonx's post woudl be great as curtains.

lashy · 21/10/2021 23:44

Pale gold / champagne. Google Laura Ashley 'Nigella' cushion in 'natural' colour. Something like that.

TonyThreePies · 21/10/2021 23:49

How about these? I got curtains made from this range to go with my green walls and they look fab. You can get swatches from them so you can see the colours and fabrics too.
