I too was going to ask what's with the "haha"
It's really annoying.
Sorry @Eviethyme but it is really weird.

Nesbo · 06/07/2021 14:10

The whole thread is pretty bizarre, let alone the constant haha’s (is that supposed to be nervous laughter?)

If you are really clueless about this you could get a personal shopper and an interior designer to talk to you so they can fit recommendations to your personal style.

Otherwise, if you just want a list of retailers where you can spend a lot of money, buy a few copies of magazines like Elle Decoration. They have long lists of suppliers at the back and should give you some ideas.

Eviethyme · 06/07/2021 14:18

Sorry. Have reported thread to get it taken down. Yes it's a mixture of nervous laughter and I also game a lot so used to short sentences and hahas. I honestly didn't think I used it too much just after a little joke or awkward sentence but good to know.

I will look at some magazines and see. I just wanted personal recommendations rather than from things that were potentially paid to promote the company.

I've had some great recommendations from people thank you and I don't think I'll be going with help. I want to make the whole house my own touch even if it lacks as much style as a designer could give it.

I like doing things myself. I like decor stuff I'm just not used to being able to buy "nice" stuff. All my things come from b&m and home bargains. I'm now in a position where I want more expensive hotel kind of stuff.

I like browsing shops and websites...

Eviethyme · 06/07/2021 14:19

Also I'm not clueless I just wanted recommendations for things people like...

Like towels, I know where I Could get them but I wanted to see where other people love getting theirs from etc

Sweettruelies · 06/07/2021 14:54

Weren’t you in a council house in April?

Eviethyme · 06/07/2021 15:00

@sweettruelies still am techniquelly hence the 2 houses which will soon be 1 ( once the sale goes through) ^^ if anyone must know. I've had multiple good lucks including one amazing investment and then a bad luck in way of a death, it has changed my life I won't lie, this will be my first owned house hence why I'm not used to luxury stuff. For once I can buy everything I like

Eviethyme · 06/07/2021 15:04

And okay if anyone wants to know my life story.

Moved from a horrible council flat in Devon where my family live to Warwick near December 2020 to get a garden for my children but didn't like the area so moved to Rugby in march/april ( another council house) but then in May my life was changed and I am now the owner( or soon to be) of a house in devon back with family. Although I won't be in it til probably August or September but I can at least prepare.

If you are genuine then please don't rush to spend spend spend on interiors. Get your investments sorted so you know you are secure for the future and buying a house is fine but maybe take your time doing the interiors and live in the space for a bit and work out what you need to make life easier and happy.

As far as towels, sheets etc I have towels from Christy, House of Fraser, Sainsbury's and M&S. Christys are lovely and heavy but the egyptian cotton towels are the best and they are a mix of HoF and Sainsbury's! M&S ordinary cottom towels are the 'worst'. Agree with a PP, we get sheets from The White Company.

Eviethyme · 06/07/2021 15:29

@janinaduszejko thank you, I'm definitely not in a rush just want to get some ideas and have a browse :)

I now have a very good income from what was left to me in terms of businesses and the investment should see my retirement thankfully.

Thewhitecomoany seems good and do some lovely bedding too

I understand why people ma seem confused.. I damn near had a heart attack when I found out what I did and wanted to tell everybody but knew it would just cause judgement and jealousy so I try to keep it vague but at the same time that can cause people to think I'm bragging but also I get I should have maybe just put a rough budget In place rather than saying no budget.. I just meant if I like it then I'll buy it regardless of price.

We’ve just had new flooring and it has made a huge difference to our house. We wanted wood effect, and chose amtico for the downstairs, a crucial trading stripe for the stairs and a 80/20 biscuit colour for the bedrooms. I think having the same flooring throughout (you can lay wood effect flooring on different patterns if you like to have delineation between rooms) makes it all come together. I’d really recommend the quality of amtico and crucial trading.

Romo and villa nova have lovely fabrics. They do ranges and colours that coordinate, so you could choose cushions that coordinate with curtains and blinds, if you like that. I do! Great quality luxury fabrics.

I love harlequin wool rugs and asp brink and campman rugs. The bigger the better. The Rug Seller (online) has lots of each.

I’ve bought lovely throws and blankets and things like that in Next - it doesn’t all have to be top end. Melon Tregwynt is lovely though for wool cushions and throws if you like small repeat patterns.

Atalune · 06/07/2021 15:43

Congratulations.

Go and visit Darts farm in Exeter then they have lots of lovely home things there x

Eviethyme · 06/07/2021 15:45

@atalune I will take a visit :D I do like the sort of stuff that you don't see everywhere like unique stuff so that may be good.

@welltidy thank you for your advice, we are going for either wood throughout or tiles.. Depending on how everything else looks because we are fitting a new kitchen etc first so once that's down we will definitely get some samples and see what looks best

Sounds wonderful to be able to buy what you like but, like PP have said, don't rush into spending money for the sake of it. Do the floors/ kitchen/ painting/ whatever then browse physical shops to see what catches your eye. Take your time.

Stating that you'd spend £10,000 on a pillow case won't win you many friends. Even if I had the money I'd still be in TK Maxx/ Dunelm/ John Lewis for quality at a reasonable price then buy the statement pieces in independent shops.

Eviethyme · 06/07/2021 15:58

@puffalicious thank you, I said I would never pay that for a pillowcase.

Hence why I should have just said a budget I was thinking

OP posts:
Eviethyme · 06/07/2021 16:00

I was thinking the white company, harrods type prices, things between £100 and £500 but no more than that really as even if I had the money I don't see the point, I just wanted peoplea opinions on nice places that are above average price.

As mentioned I already have all the house stuff sorted, I even have all the furniture pretty much done I just need decor ideas but I think I have enough now.

Ah, I see. Pinterest is your friend as is browsing- I do love a browse, it comes from my late mam who loved a browse even when not buying as she loved beautiful things. Magazines are great. I have a subscription (great gift, thanks sis!) and recently ordered a hammock and new cushions based on seeing them in the magazine. Delighted with both. My DS1 has been all over Pinterest for ideas for his room, which we're just doing up.

Good luck. How exciting.

Puffalicious · 06/07/2021 16:18

Ps if you like the country look Blubellgray is an abstract, country look and local to me, as is Timorous Beasties which has a great website (always good to get the recommendations in!)

ElizabethTudor · 06/07/2021 17:20
