Pink bedroom

My son is four. He loves pink and wants a pink bedroom.

I'm happy to do this with soft furnishings but not painted pink as I hate decorating and if he dislikes it in a year, I'll begrudge having to repaint!

How would you incorporate it so it still looks like a boys room, not like he's living in his sister's bedroom?

Split complementary palette,,,

add colours of any intensity, including blacks, whites, greys as well as more saturated colours but just stick to 3 Hue Families.

It can feel just that bit gentler than working with only 2 complementary colours,,

Saturated colours are easy to align into Hue Families but all near neutrals are available from every Hue Family too,,

As a child my mum painted our room green and orange. We loved it. However I can't imagine the next tenant was overly impressed...

The easiest way to do it would be either a very pale pink that would be easy to paint over or as suggested up thread some of these lovely pale colours. He can then help pick wall art and decor with you so he gets the things he wants. I often find IKEA showrooms great for ideas but that's obviously not an option at the moment.

He really likes the pinks and greens!

Only problem is I wanted a sage bedroom! 🤣

Thank you for the help. I hope he never grows out of his love of pink!

Pink accessories (is that the right word) would go really well with sage.

That's what I'm thinking.

And it'll be easy to make the room nice, without being tacky, or like his in the spare room (because it doesn't look like a child's room).

Hmm... If he goes off pink, it’s going to be cheaper and easier to repaint the walls than to replace pink curtains, bedlinen, cushions, rug etc

My DD has a pink room but the curtains and bedlinen have lots of colours in them (blue green yellow) so it will be easy to repaint to one of those in future. Furniture is white.

If your DS really wants a pink room I doubt he’ll be satisfied with green walls!

He's happy with the idea of pink bedding and a pink rug.

I will probably do neutral walls and use a bit of green to break up the pink.

It doesn't help that I hate pink. 🤣

I made pink cushion covers and did a geometric wall which had green, pink, yellow and blue triangles on it.

That's a lovely mood board OP! Your friend is very clever Smile

Love that mood board. Thought this or this look quite good, a mix of navy, bright blue and pale pink. This is much more 'boyish' due to the accessories. TBH I'd really just paint the walls a very light pink and go as neutral as possible with the accessories for longevity.

sapnupuas · 04/03/2021 09:11

@BabyBee93 she is! I'll get her to send me some others that I'll post.

@JaninaDuszejko I love that. That's exactly what I wanted. Pink without being glaringly pink.

The attached is current front runner, but that car bedroom is making me reconsider.

We are getting a simple black metal frame bed. What bedside table would go?

If he likes dinosaurs, my daughter has this bedding and it's lovely.

She has pale blue walls in her room. Works really well for either sex.
